There is one less 4S out in the wild, I just got my 5S today. :D

Although I'm using my 4S until Monday. I'm sad to part with it but I'm keeping it as backup. Can't sell my first ever iPhone.

I've had the 3GS, the 4s and now the 5s. The first 2 pre ordered & received on launch day. Would've pre ordered the 5s if I could have. I like the latest, but only every 2 years.:)

I'm 40 and have a few friends in their 40's to 50's that have older model iPhones. These are people that don't fully understand how to use their iPhones (which drives me a little bananas) and don't at all care what model iPhone they have as long as it still works.

Also a lot of people hand their phone down to a family member instead of trading in or selling their "older" phone, hence the continued longevity of the iPhone 4 and 4S.

I've been using an white iPhone 4S for nearly 2 years and I'm already eligible for a re-contract. My phone still works perfectly with iOS 7 and I am honestly not enticed by the 5 series, except for their LTE capabilities. I'd probably still get a 5S in December when the white/silver 5s stocks are more readily available

I see a lot of 4/4s out there as well. I gave my 4 to a friend of mine to give to his son (got it unlocked) and this friend still uses his 4.

I paid full retail for my 5 just a few days before the 5s launch. I needed a phone but not the new features and foresaw the supply issues.

The guy in the store was grinning so much I said 'go on then...' And right away he mentions the 5s being available soon. My reply was 'but it won't be, will it?'. Glad I didn't bother waiting!

Because I refuse to wait in a line 3 hours before a store opens in the morning and be treated like cattle on a farm just to get a phone. And I like to have hands on rather than order it online and wait a month.

So I'll be sticking with my 4s until either the 5s starts meeting demand or the GS5 comes out.

I intentionally upgraded from a 4 to a 4C just before the 5S/C was released. I prefer the form factor of the 4S and there's nothing in the 5, 5C or 5S that I need or want that isn't already provided in the 4S. The only reason I moved from the 4 to the 4S is for a bit more storage and so I could dictate emails and texts, rather than typing on the tiny keyboard. The glass form factor is less prone to scratches than aluminum, so I expect it will stay looking new for a longer period of time.

Also, I never buy a new model or upgrade to a new OS as soon as it's released. I prefer to sit back and watch others discover the bugs and problems.

My wife has the iPhone4 and loves hers and wont give it up. I took her upgrade and got the iPhone5 last week. She has 0 issues with her iPhone and I doubt she will upgrade her phone till it falls apart...

I would think LTE would be a game changer for most. Guess not
On ATT GSM the iPhone 4 pulls 3-5mbps
The 4S pulls 8-9mbps.

That qualifies as home broadband speed. Faster than many typical 1.5mbps DSL.

That's fast enough for HD video. Fast web and maps. More really isn't realized in typical or power user tasks.

LTE 60mbps speedtests are nerd-gasm worthy... but that's a pretty slim market group.

Yep my dad is the new owner of a 4, my mom got a 5 and gave him the 4.

He loves it coming from a flip phone. :)

I'm still on my 4S, because my "cycle" is February -- I'll probably get the 5S then (though I'm considering going with iPad Mini with LTE instead as I really don't need a phone as much as a mobile data device). My wife will probably want the 5S as well.

The 4Ss will go to the kids, replacing the 3GSs they're currently using, as slightly oversized iPods. One 3GS is on its last legs and will probably be sold for parts and the other will be kept as a spare.

I have a 4S and I don't see a reason to upgrade yet. I'm more of a software guy and the only difference is what AirDrop? Unless my phone is lost or stolen I'm gonna stick with the 4S.

I'm in no way saying the 4S is better just the 5S doesn't interest me enough to upgrade to it.

I've had the 3GS, the 4s and now the 5s. The first 2 pre ordered & received on launch day. Would've pre ordered the 5s if I could have.

Exact same here, plus a 3G bought on launch day from a store. My 5S will be here in a few days but I still love the 4S, apart from maybe it's on the heavy side. I cleaned it up the other day and it's still like brand new, despite never using a case. It will become my car iPod when the 5S arrives, and the 3GS will be retired from that duty.

I only buy unlocked phones and use a SIM-only tariff so the contract expiring or not doesn't apply to me, but I don't feel the need to update every year anyway, preferring every other year. The years I don't upgrade the iPhone, I upgrade the iPad instead :)

Had 4 since launch day, waited in line think I was about 3rd.

This is a same month replacment and is defect free running lovely. Battery improved with ios 7 and running pretty smooth.

I havent upgraded as none have been a big enough leap for me. Though I am dying to see the 6 as that should finally be enough of a step up for me that and maybe iOS 8.

I am on the full change cycle, iphone 4, iphone 5 and waiting for iphone 6.

I don't see any real need for me to upgrade to 5s since I use it for email, internet searches and work. I don't listen to music or play games, so the 5 is fine for me.

I can type in my passwords so the fingerprint reader is not a "must have". I have LTE so that is good enough.

Just at the end of a 24 mth contract (which seems about right to see a significant benefit to upgrade on phones) and upgrading from 4s to 5s.

Then my 4s is being used to upgrade my better half from crappy Sony Ericsson Android to iOS (and onto a sim only deal)

Her boss has used the business account to upgrade to a 5s also, also passing on his 5 to my better half as a work phone. Her old work phone (a 4) is then being unlocked and passed to someone within the company who works in the more remote locations so doesn't need the bells and whistles but could do with a high quality handset.

We have an AT&T biz acct, and until this release, we had to go to AT&T. But they recently changed that, so we were able to get our 5S's at the Apple Store.

Might check into that. Unless you already did and Verizon is different. Then nevermind.

I haven't checked recently.... but locally I have Best Buy and Verizon in the same complex 2 miles from my house. The apple stores are 60 miles away!

Still haven't decided what I'm doing - except I think I got dinged with that iOS7 upgrade download. I havent' clicked install yet though.

I went from a 4s to a 5s myself and couldn't be happier (hello LTE)! But I know my mom plans on going from a 4 to a 4s so she doesn't have to change all her cables and cases for a new size phone. So I guess it just depends on what suits your needs…
