no, for two similar reasons:

The short amount of time the verizon iphone and the white iphone have been on the market.

In order to make these things profitable, the length of time from product debut and the next version needs to be longer than the normal june refresh time frame.

Pushing it to September (like all the rumors have suggested) gives a couple more months of purchases before the new iphone comes out.

The bigger question to me, is whether the ip6 (or whatever) will come out in June or in September of 2012. :p
So you're saying they will forsake the early adopters because of a new color and new carrier? That seems like a bold move to test their loyalty to Apple.
How are the other 2 not legitimate? Feel free to add any that i missed.
Well in 3 months they can decide if they want to go with the "well designed" prototype or the "rushed upgrade" one.
Because you just made them up and have no real idea on whether those are actual indicators of an iphone announcement.

I personally think so. The iPhone 4's hardware is really lacking at the moment. If one doesn't come out, I am getting the HD7S. I'm sick of waiting.[/QUOTE]

HD7S, have fun with that, most people I know who bought a Win Mobile device hate it, they either switched to iPhone or Android phones, I am not even sure if MS can compete anymore in this market, as the Applications for Office and Exchange enhance on all the other phones, I think you will see MS pull out of the phone market sooner than later.

Just like Apple, in the face of ever increasing competition, to delay the release of their next iPhone (which in all likelyhood will just be a refresh) even longer than usual.

Apple is in a unique never ending honeymoon where everything they drop is a golden egg. Must drive the competition crazy.

There is a delay? When did they announce that they were releasing the phone?

Display needs to be bigger, newer smart phones on the market have dual cores, iOS 4 is really dated with notifications and a lack of simple widgets for basic tasks (why do I need to launch an app to see the weather?).

Storage also needs to be increased, especially since Apple won't ever make storage expandable.

Display size is not a feature that is lacking. It is a personal preference, many people don't want a bigger display, at least if it will mean bigger form factor.

I'm one of those people who doesn't want a bigger form factor but does want a bigger display. ;)

However, the screen is very much lacking at this point. Smartphones continue to do more things and relay more information; a bigger screen facilitates this.

Don't get me wrong, I also don't want a gigantor display like some Droid and HTC models out there, but a small increase (say to 4") would go a long way to making the iPhone a better phone.

I'm amazed people say due to the Verizon iPhone the iPhone 5 won't come out in June/July, if they haven't realised there's a whole world outside the US. As for the white iPhone 4 being released that's a valid reason.

I'm pretty sure iPhone won't be announced during WWDC, reason being that they just released the VZW iPhone 4 and the white iPhone 4 only a couple months ago. I'm sure they want to squeeze a bit more profit out of those models first.

Chances are low of the new iPhone being released BUT you know there will be some surprise.

iPhone 5
A5 MacBook Air
Flash for iOS
Free iPhone unlock for US customers
iCar?!?
etc...

The probability of any of these devices getting revealed on Monday is small. But make a long list and the sum of the probability is ONE. Because there is always ONE MORE THING...

This. Sure Verizon is important in the US but the rest of the world doesn't care, they're just another carrier.

bigger screen for angry birds but same size. Ill wait until September. I have done the Android and it was less then stellar. Once i moved to the iPhone it took care of all my needs.

Well that's true. Last summer when the iPhone 4 came out, I personally thought it was BUTT ugly at first. Eventually I came to like the design, but not for a little bit. I had an upgrade at that point, so I bought a Samsung Captivate (Android.) The Captivate is a buggy pos. So I've been regretting not getting an iPhone for a long time, but I also didn't want to buy an iPhone 4 if a new one was around the corner. So I'm buying the HTC HD7s (Release date June 5 AT&T) if a new iPhone doesn't come out.

Impatience killed the cat...

They might be taking it to September - like many thought they were going to do with the iPads. It makes the iPhone closer to Xmas, and the iPad is at the March end of the year which is close to bonus time. And it's a perfect revamp for the iPod event, and they could announce/release the iPod touch version at the same time.

I think there is very low hope launch of new iPhone, but sure that apple has new surprises for their iPhone user's.iPhone 5,Flash for iOS etc. have the most probability of coming soon with advance & new technology. It can be surprising feature added with new launching.

A September release is basically four months away. That's a long damn time in cellphone time. We'll probably see 1/2 dozen new Android devices between now and then and they'll all be spec'd better than the iPhone, but Apple, oblivious to the competition, will chug on its merry way to a refreshed iPhone release when it damn well feels like it.

It must be nice to have the market by the balls. :p

Apple doesn't have the market by the balls anymore. They are behind Android in OS sales and Samsung, LG, and Motorola all out sell Apple by a lot. There was a time when the iPhone was hands down the best smart phone on the market. Android has finally caught up. Apple can not be as arrogant as the people on this board are and think they can do no wrong and try to sell the public on 1 year old technology. The new iPhone needs to come out in June/July or Apple will just fall further behind.

As a side note, the economy seems to be going south again. Apple would be wise to release the nee iPhone sooner before people start worrying and stop spending money on things they don't really need.

The most important part of the smartphone is the OS. iOS5 is going to be a major overhaul. I believe it will keep Apple in the running for best smartphone. The hardware only matters to the point where it is holding back functions of the OS because it can't keep up. iOS does just fine with the hardware that is currently provided.

People who believe specs are extremely important will never be convinced otherwise... even by the perfectly rational argument above.
