The OP sounds like one of those people who are in denial about global warming. "we keep hearing about potential disasters as a result of global warming but there haven't been any disasters yet. Thus global warming must be a hoax". :p

let me tell you this. Apple officially stated that the iMac will come before 2013. That's it. Nothing more to it. If Apple lied it would hurt their business a lot so your statement is wrong sorry to say.

Wrong ! Apple officially stated that Mac Pros will come in 2013 and intentionally escluded iMacs from that statement : that could mean everything and nothing at the same time.

You can read : "we will release iMac before 2013" or "we cannot tell you we won't release any iMac before 2013 otherwise nobody will buy the 2011 anymore" ... just pic the statement you prefer and stick with it !

And again I'm making everyone happy ...

;)

I'll wait and see what (if anything) happens Sept 12 with the iMac but I think that might be the 7" iPad or iPhone '5', unless they throw in the iMac update on the side.

I agree with you here :p

you are arguing with him in this very reply though

Yeah I know I'm pathetic :D

The OP is absolutely correct that the more time goes by, the less likely we'll see a refreshed iMac in 2012. As we move into the December time frame, the likelihood falls to zero.

But that doesn't mean that the chance of a refresh between now and the end of the year is close to zero. While it's true that the vast majority of people posting here don't have any "inside" information, industry analysts are different. Their reputations and livelihoods depend on the accuracy of their predictions, so they look for clues in places like supply chains that aren't readily accessible to most of us. That doesn't mean that they're always right, just that what they say is often more credible.

Based on everything I've read, I think that a September or October iMac refresh is a reasonable possibility, at least enough for me to wait, because I can. However, I think that it's just as reasonable for those who can't wait or don't believe that there'll be a new iMac this year to go buy one now or get a laptop and separate display instead.

Originally there was a statement from an Apple spokesperson that the Mac Pro and iMac would be upgraded in 2013. Then Apple back tracked on the statement and then the Tim Cook talked about something really great for the pros coming out in later in 2013.

So actually there is stronger evidence from Apple that there will not be a iMac update in 2012 than there will.

The original statement coupled with Tim Cook's statement suggests to me that the Apple could be coming out with a replacement for the desktop line.

Eventually it's going to happen so 2013 could be it.

Don't you think All the vacuum we have instead of I-leaks explosion is already talking enough?
COOK has double buried all the Mac desktops forever.
With the metal he...uses to build an Imac he's able to build 50 Iphones,
its silly to build an Imac at this point, then for an Imac you need a table, and for a table you need a room and for a room you need to pay a monthly fee,
so without an Imac you just need a pocket letting you use your money to buy an Iphones.
Iphones housed where your pockets walk without even need a mortgage, just a Tipí.

As with most imminent Apple products releases, we usually see leaked specs and parts photos. Has anyone seen any of these type leaks on a new/future iMac? I have not seen much of anything in terms of leaks. My thinking is an iMac refresh will be further out than most had hoped, most likely sometime in 2013.

Tim Cook spoke about Mac Pros (in 2013) not about Ivy Bridge iMacs. DigiTimes reported that sources said we will see redesigned iMacs in 2013 (probably with a retina display). I think Apple waits for the Haswell IGP, and we will see no retina display in the Late-2012 iMacs.

We will see new iMacs in 2012. One of the manufacturers had problems with the displays. Apple said they want perfect displays. The appropriate enhancements in the production chain require some time (not less than 2 months).

Btw:

And you stop an entire line for just one manufacturer? Can't you stick in in the old 27 displays?Something here is not ..well i don't buy it,
or there's somethng new to come, and they have to say something to
keep the hype alive while its almost dead now..
(aka redesign or whatsoever..and they better do fast because Windows8 is out next Fall..and this will steal a lot of non-pro users believe me..)
or they're lieing making this hurting their sales ,
now i don't want to believe this scenary...but till here nothing makes me
hope for the best,by the way my time frame will end on October,
after that period i will say goodbye to Apple for a very long period,
for the Cookie period, because my money are not infinite and i need a machine to work for that period..When its enough its enough.

Once you sink to personal insults it is clear you have run out of ideas.

My whole point is yes, there is nothing but RUMORS which so far have been wrong. But hope springs eternal I know and denial is a great force to be reckoned with.

The FACT is, Apple has made no announcement or promise to deliver any iMacs in 2012. Period. They have made absolutely no commitment to do this. All the rumors are pipe dreams born of hopes and desires, not facts.

----------

Oh, I don't know what Apple will do for sure anymore than anybody else does. It's just a rumor there won't be a refresh - you know, like the rumor that there will be one. You know, that popular rumor that also cannot be proven.

PROOF?Lots of FREE...Iphone leaks an no Imac nor rumors at all.
For me its scary plain simple enough.
Tim is not cooking any desktop for us but he will make a call with his Iphone.

And you stop an entire line for just one manufacturer? Can't you stick in in the old 27 displays? Something here is not...
It is not a secret. Apple improved the display from generation to generation, so i think it is possible that the display manufacturer (LG or Samsung) is the problem.

Windows8 is out next Fall..and this will steal a lot of non-pro users believe me..)
I doubt that. XP and 7 are stable versions of the Windows OS. No one needs an additional risk, called Windows 8.

That's because the majority of people use iToys and not macs.

If someone is paying me to build them a table, I'm not going to cut them a slab of wood and try and convince them it's better because it fits in their pocket...

I don't think the world goes like this,i mean ,how many here is able to afford a sailing ship ? and because of this the ships must be stopped to be built ever?
By the way Apple can choose to toy itself as they want..but the real Apple make desktops and if it stops all the pro users will spend their money away,
and doing like this all the ecosystem from Ipod nano, touch, iphones,Ipad will be disjointed from the desktops...all over the air..on the cloud..even Woz is worried,
so its not just me and if i'll have to buy a windows 8 machine then a will eventually need a Lumia instead of an Iphone and so on..
desktop for Apple are not just money, desktop are the reason i bought an iphone,
because of the idea to have a little mac in my hands,
because of its sync and no notebook will offer me what a desktop fills
and i don't wanna know the iphone to be only Mac i can have.
One day eventually a mobile device will offer all the power a desktop have
but i think that times are still far away.

Its funny, because i heard sayn that majority of people won't ever care what's actually within a Mac because what they want its just a mac..and now the same masses would have the knowledge to understand that a Win8's machine is worst than the Apple's one..even with the ecosystem it will have with Xbox 720 and phones..WE MAY KNOW that Windows isn't OSX but don't tell me that
even with Apple lacking of new desktop machines people will continue to buy old Sandy Bridge technology...the marketing will fire on Apple if Apple would left this hole opened and the masses..will buy what they think worths better for their money, because before of Apple people think ,especially in this crisys time, what they can afford more for the same or less money.
It would be weird if Apple act with their competitors this leftover...
as for now Apple could have easily our money and it doesn't even "make escape" a blurred photo of a new successfully laminated display and i call this arrogance.
And in the end I WANT AN IMAC but i won't buy an old 2011.

You misunderstood me, I LOVE iMacs I have an iMac G4 1.25GHz and I will also be buying the 2012 iMac when it comes out.

Apple has given up on desktop computers and there will no longer be any worthwhile computing products made by Apple every again.

I have proof but I'm not going to show it to you because it's secret.

Dad, you're embarrassing me.

Dad?Dad-aumpa?Stay with your Willie Wonka's ticket but if you'll push more
instead of not facin the truth Apple won't use to behave with you as only itoys consumers, but if you like it.. .

No i didn't',i was just going in your same direction, didn't want to be critic with you at all,i didn't act like some trolls here, the fact is ,as you think, is that Iphone is not the reason to axe the desktop's line and Cook must hurry and give the right respect to Pro Users this year, not on the late 2013.
