Most of the apps I use, besides Safari, are just free utilities (and a lot of which are various remotes). I can’t really see how most of them would make use of AVP. The apps would likely just end up looking like iPad apps.

This is headed in the wrong direction. I’m not throwing on a cumbersome headset, obstructing my face from the natural world, only to be presented with the same screens I was already looking at with out it. What’s next, a life-sized Clippy?
As MKBHD said on Waveforms (he has used the AVP 4 times now). They had a full scale Alfa Romeo F1 C43 and it broke a part, and you could move each part around. Apparently the functionality was outstanding and you could do things you simply cannot do it actual reality.

Having the ability to manipulate a virtual 3D object in actual size and in real time without having to physically make the object (3D printing or moulding etc) and not just have it on some lame arse 2D monitor is ground breaking.

3D immersive content, whilst nice is just the low picking fruit.

Disappointed with the lack of YouTube. They already have an iPad app. I guess they probably think the experience stinks. I hate using their web interface. I’m not surprised most of the apps available are entertainment apps. Productivity apps probably take a long time to figure out a good interface for them, but at least some are available.

Crouton developer has something in the works for following a recipe, but I don’t like the concept of moving my head down to chop/find something in a drawer or over a steaming pot with a 1.6lb device having that extra strain, potentially fogging or hitting a cabinet corner. Also, more expensive than my stove. I’ll stick with the iPad on the counter behind my cutting board, thanks.

This is actually a great use case. Passthru is lifelike, and it's easier to refer to a recipe right next to you all the time than having to go to your iPad or laptop. It's also easier to scroll a recipe page, if you have messy hands, with the Apple Vision Pro gestures than it is to scroll on a laptop or iPad

How do you know?

Perhaps because all of these (jump to) conclusions about no Pages & Numbers revolve around seeing that Keynote is apparently a stock app (installed for all) in Vpro (so where's Pages & Numbers?).

However, if any of us go buy a new iPad tonight, it won't come with Pages & Numbers (or Keynote) pre-installed. Yes, you can get it for free but you OPT to download it from the > "million apps" available for iPad.

I agree with OPs speculation: Pages & Numbers will be available... and I'm guessing new Vpro owners can download them for free if they want them. Why is Keynote pre-installed and the others may not be? Only Apple knows that one.

Of course, if we watched the demonstration video to a first time user, late in the session when the Apple representative wants the user to try the Dinosaur app, she directs him to scroll the apps to the SECOND page of apps. That segment is zoomed, so we only see 3 apps NOT on the first page of apps (where Keynote shows). See for yourself in that spot of the video...

Perhaps Pages & Numbers is preinstalled on page 2 of Vpro apps? Or Page 3? Etc. I bet a lot of people have some of these apps on page 2 or 3+ of their iPad or iPhone too.

Or- again- just like for ALL iPads, if you want Pages & Numbers on your new device, you download it. Maybe some doesn't want them on their new toys. Perhaps Apple DID learn something from the infamous U2 "free" album: let users decide if they want certain things on their iDevices... and now Vpro.

Any confirmation from Apple that their iPadOS versions of Final Cut and Logic are coming to visionOS? Apple appeared to say as a matter of fact that "all iPad and iPhone apps will work on visionOS" **

**unless their developers uncheck the box in Xcode

Ahead of the Apple Vision Pro launching on February 2, developers are in the process of preparing their apps for the mixed reality headset. So far, around 250 apps with native support for visionOS have been submitted to Apple, according to a source.

By natively supporting visionOS, apps can take full advantage of "spatial" design elements and offer more immersive features.

In addition to some Apple apps, well-known third-party apps that will natively support visionOS at launch include Airmail, Box, CARROT Weather, Fantastical, Facades, JigSpace, MUBI, Night Sky, OmniPlan 4, Parcel, PCalc, Red Bull TV, Sky Guide, Tides, Webex, Zoom, and more, according to data compiled by app analytics firm Appfigures.

Microsoft will offer a variety of native visionOS apps at launch, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams, based on App Store marketing images shared by developer Steve Troughton-Smith on Mastodon and @M1Astra on X/Twitter. Additional images show native apps for Crunchyroll, J.Crew, LEGO Builder's Journey, Lowe's, and others.

In addition to native apps, iPhone and iPad apps will automatically be available on the Vision Pro, unless a developer opts out using the App Store Connect tool. As a result, Apple says more than one million apps will be available for the headset at launch.

Apple last week listed some additional entertainment apps that will be available on the Vision Pro at launch, including Disney+, ESPN, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, Max, Discovery+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, Pluto TV, Tubi, Fubo, IMAX, and TikTok. Some of the apps will be native, while others will be compatible iPad apps.

Disney+ will natively support the Vision Pro at launch, and its app will offer users a selection of 3D movies to watch on the headset, such as Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Elemental, and Encanto.

"At launch, viewers can transform their space into one of four Disney+ environments, bringing them even closer to the story," said Disney, in a press release last week. "Each environment includes animations and sounds that make the space feel alive, and Easter eggs from films and franchises that will surprise and delight fans."

Some popular apps will not offer Vision Pro apps of any kind at launch, including Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube, according to Bloomberg, but users can still access these services via Safari. It's also unclear if Meta-owned apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp will be available on the headset at launch.

With around two weeks remaining until the Vision Pro launches, there is still time for developers to prepare their apps, so expect more to follow soon.

Mkay where are all the haters from the other day, exclaiming how developers hate Apple, haven't made apps, don't care and it'll be a failure? Cmon, haters. Stop hatin. This device is gonna be insane and this is just the beginning.

What direction should it be headed in?
I’m not throwing on a cumbersome headset
How do you know it's cumbersome. Have you ever worn it? And for how long?
, obstructing my face from the natural world,
This does not compute at all. How do you want the natural world (what specifically makes up the natural world in your mind?) to look upon you. Perhaps a Gekko starring at you?
only to be presented with the same screens I was already looking at with out it.
This is so ignorant and defiant as to defy comprehension.
What’s next, a life-sized Clippy?
