And I'm stubborn for a reason. All progress depends on those who refuse to settle for mediocrity. While I have been defending the right to his opinion (which I also happen to agree with), I agree with you on this, he is very stubborn lol. Never the less, fuel the fire as you must.
So you consider the ability to "like" someone's text message or to "scribble" like an etch a sketch as innovative and useful as the transition from a typewriter to a computer? That explains a lot.Can you do a LOT MORE with the current version of messages? YES. You cannot deny that. Therefore, it has moved forward. Really, the OP sounds like a 70 year old complaining how computers replaced typewriters. But keep it coming, I'm getting a lot of entertainment keeping up with this thread.

Funny thing is, he's always complaining about how iOS used to be better but he's been complaining about every little thing since 2012.Truthfully, I don't think the OP wants to understand anyone else's point of view. It's fairly evident he refutes everything and he can better iOS for everyone, yet he won't even acknowledge what is considered "Better" by an itemized list of 50 things he never responded to.
What phone do you have?
An iPhone 5 going from iOS 8 to 10... of course it will suffer - you have vastly inferior technology compared to the phones ios 10 is designed for.
Weird... iMessage is usually something most people using Apple products tout as a great thing. I've used all the messengers including the ones Android tries to ... perfect but consistently fails at.

The best reason I can think of for them not allowing you to revert is security, however if it were me, that wouldn't be a reason to stop singing altogether, and would only be done right away once an exploit was discovered that made a certain OS version "dangerous".
I agree that balance can prevent perceived view of what is planned obsolescence, but they only support your device as long as you are on the most current OS. If anything happens, and it needs to be rebooted or restored, you're F'd and can only upgrade to the latest software, which in some cases forces people to buy new hardware due to the newest software not performing as well as the old.
It's a tough discussion, because both sides are valid.
I'm not belittling anyone, it's just extremely aggravating when you feel like you're talking to a wallWeird... iMessage is usually something most people using Apple products tout as a great thing. I've used all the messengers including the ones Android tries to ... perfect but consistently fails at. I liked Google Voice, I liked Hangouts but no one else that I knew did. iMessage is far superior - Just most people I know use Telegram. Yes, it would be nice for iMessage to be cross platform but I think that's what makes it so fast and great.
You act like there's more to be done - what advancements do you think need to be done?
I've used every messenger out there. Many are bloated, offer way too many features and sacrifice reliability and ease of use. I feel iMessages is near perfect and it works really well. I've used the sketch with my wife and it works nicely.
Telegram is one of the last cross platform messengers. I'm old school but I have to have it on my work PC - I don't want to pick up my phone every 10 mins to talk to people. Besides typing with thumbs is so slow.
As much as I support your opinion, you act like it is fact instead of opinion and you belittle those that don't agree with you. Makes it difficult to discuss.
And? It's continued to go downhill every year. The ONLY thing that has improved is the GUI and animations of iOS 7. Autocorrect is like night and day from how good it used to be.Funny thing is, he's always complaining about how iOS used to be better but he's been complaining about every little thing since 2012.
If it truly has gone downhill like you said it has, nobody would be using it. It's not perfect but it's far from terrible as you claim. And? It's continued to go downhill every year. Not true at all, it can go downhill but still but the best option out. That's not saying much.If it truly has gone downhill like you said it has, nobody would be using it. It's not perfect but it's far from terrible as you claim.
If the phone slows down due to an OS upgrade on the same hardware then what does that tell you? It tells you that the OS upgrade is SLOWER and BLOATED.
1) you admit it was your mistake to update, and you want apple to fix it?But let people DOWNGRADE back to where they were previously after they make the terrible mistake of upgrading.
Or, the OS has more features and has been designed for and with the newest devices. Don't like it, don't update.
1) you admit it was your mistake to update, and you want apple to fix it?
2) because we all know that someone who gets hacked after downgrading won't blame Apple... smh
