Thinking of cancelling new M1 MacBook Pro order due to notch

I couldn’t stand the notch on the iPhone and it has zero place on the MacBook Pro.

Anyone else wanting to cancel their order or not buy it because of the notch.

I haven't ordered yet but plan to get the 14". The only reason the notch is there is because Apple extended the display up on the sides of the camera instead of making a larger bezel. A better question would be why did you order in the first place if you thought the notch was a problem?

I promised myself I would not make another post complaining about the notch. I didn't purchase the iPhone 13 because of this issue and I thought that the 14 would certainly have it removed. Now, I know differently. I had my wallet at work ready to purchase the 14" and when I saw the notch, I thought no way.

I don't like the Notch. I think it's a bad design mistake, and I would prefer a larger bezel... but I'll probably get used to it. If you don't like it, I suggest you simply cancel your order.

You lose zero space as the screen to the sides is in addition to the 16:10 ratio screen below. So that just leaves you don't like the look. Okay...go and buy the M1 or go PC. Seems daft to me but there you go.

Having used two iPhones with the notch, guess what: I don't even see it anymore. It becomes part of the exterior "chrome". I fully expect the same will happen to me with the new MBP.

I didn’t really look at it as a notch, it’s decreasing the bezel and moving the menu bar up which gives us the full display. It doesn’t appear intrusive at all.

For some of us it has nothing to do with lost space. It's an aesthetic joke.

Can't believe I'm defending this design decision as I despise it on an iPhone, but on a MBP it has zero functional impact. Full screen does not use this area which is already dead space in anyone's menu bar. Certainly not pretty to look at though.

Not a fan of the notch but I suspect everyone will need to get used to it. All it has today is a camera, if it was only going to have a camera it would be smaller so I suspect face id will also be in there and other things with later models.

Honestly, I can live with it.

im just going to use a dark wallpaper so it blends with the notch. I guess it can be a nuisance for some since the notch can be an eyesore

The notch is bad both on the iPhone and the MacBook. But it's looking like this will be the future of MacBooks for a number of years. What options do you have besides switching to windows?

i love the notch personally. it’s recognisable and unseen in the history of macbooks so it’s just extra swag B)
