Hi everyone.

I'm thinking of ditching the screen protector on my phone. I've used them as long as I can remember but recently I've found myself wanting to use it without. Don't like the feel of them!

What are people's experiences without one?

Thanks!
I tried a screen protector on my very first iOS device. Took it off two days later, no looking back since. I don't have a screen protector on any of my iOS devices, and have never experienced scratching, or had a screen shatter. In many ways, I think interaction with the screen is most sensitive/precise/accurate when touching the glass directly.

Update: I bought a full screen glass one off ebay for a fiver. The fits ok and it looks nice in the leather case! Still not sure if to just be a renegade and go without! :)

I haven't used a screen protector since the 3G and never developed a noticeable scratch that bothered me in any way.

Microscratches that you can only see in the sunlight at a certain angle...what a ridiculous statement. I know what you are talking about, but they are literally impossible to see while using the phone. I'm not sure why you would worry about them.

A screen protector eliminates them, and if you buy a good one and fit it correctly you'll be absolutely no worse off. So why suffer guaranteed micro-scratches and possible/likely deeper ones?

Suffer how? You cannot see them under use and they do not affect use in any way.

Deeper scratches are not likely at all without a screen protector. This comes from years of experience, different phones, and many many drops.

I can always feel when a screen protector is on a phone and I don't enjoy it at all. I think it really robs from the experience Apple tries to deliver. Tons of research has gone into scratch resistance and it's pretty damn good.

I was the same as you. Used a screen protector on every phone since the 3G until half way through the iPhone 6 cycle. Never use a screen protector anymore and I couldn't be happier!

I hate screen protectors. But I must admit the glass ones feel just like the screen.

They really do. I used to hate the plastic screen protectors because they got all scratched up and smudged easily. But the glass ones don't have these issues.

I haven't used a screen protector since the days of the stylus driven Windows Mobile phones which has fairly soft screens that were easy to scratch. (this was before the first iPhone was available... years earlier) I've never used one with an iPhone and I certainly don't baby my phones. I do keep them in my pocket most of the time, and try not to put anything else in that pocket. I don't recall ever getting a noticeable scratch on my screen.

No way, has never gone a day without screen protectors. I have clumsy fingers; I drop my phone even while texting! Used to have Cinder (glass), but currently on RhinoShield. (I bought a bumper bundle pack) I used to like glass but noticed that maybe I have sweaty fingers or something, dirt accumulates around home button after a while, I get paranoid that my home button will eventually die out. Haven't had any problems so far with plastic, and haven't had a scratch yet~ I have never personally installed a protector before, so I guess it could be the reason why I have never encounter bubble problems....

Glass screen protectors are nice, but I stopped using them when I got the 6 last year. Just couldn't stand how ugly the ones being offered were at the time because of the curved screen and the ugly touchID cutout. When the edge to edge ones came out, I picked one up. Wasn't impressed with the thickness and got used to using touchID without the raised edges of a screen protector. It was on for less than 5 minutes. After one year of naked screen, I couldn't even find micro-scratches. It was in mint condition. As long as you don't put the phone in your pocket/bag with other items it should be fine. The Micro-scratches are on the oleophobic coating...so putting a screen protector to cover it means you're not using it. I haven't seen a screen protector, glass or plastic, that has had the same quality oleophobic coating as good as the one on the original glass. I figure why should I keep the phone screen in brand new condition for the next guy when I should enjoy it myself.

What's the point if you have to put a screen protector or case on top of your iPhone.. We buy the iPhone not just for the software in it but also for the premium quality overall product that it is.. I am a strict no screen protector advocate unless you use your phone in the harshest of ways..

Come on, after spending so much on the device one would obviously take care of it to preserve its beauty.. :) it's like putting a cover to our chosen cars

I am super careful with all my screens and everyone of them has gotten scratched - maybe only micro scratches but still there. I found the reason - earring against the phone when taking a call. I'm not going to taking off my earring to take a call so the Benks glass protector works perfectly for me. Same feel as the glass and super thin at .2. I put one on my daughter's phone and her husband says it actually feels more slippery than the naked screen. That's my phone with the protector on.

I used to use screen protectors up until my iPhone 5, then I realised that I didn't like the feel when using my device and that I was careful enough that it was unlikely that the screen would be scratched by something.

haven't used a screen protector for years. think the iPhone 4S was the last time.

I don't use screen protectors or cases on my iPhones and no scratches to date. I love how they feel in the hand as Apple intended.

That said, I do keep my iPhones in a quality pouch when not in use.

I use the glass screen protector on my iPhone and I really like it. If you think about it this way, a screen protector will protect the original iPhone glass therefore keeping the resale value up high when it comes time to get rid of the iPhone. If you have scratches on your glass because you did not use a screen protector, your phone will not be worth as much when it comes time to selling it unless you're trading it in. If you're one of those people that do not use a case on your phone, then I guess having a screen protector is useless because evidently you're not going to care what the phone looks like with dents scratches and dings

Resale value protection: I always use (glass) screen protector, even if I don't like it very much

I'm the opposite - never used screen protectors but just got a tiny scratch on my new 6s so thinking of getting one of those tempered glass ones.

Tell me, is the scratch likely to be more or less visible with a glass screen protector on the phone?

I received £370 ($565) for my scratched and slightly dented iPhone 6 a week after the 6s was released.

Some people don't care about minor things. I'd rather use the iPhone without a case/protector.

I understand some want to make the phone more 'grippy' or work in harsh environments and that's fair enough- this isn't aimed at you.

I used to think like others that maximizing resale value was a top priority and so wrapped my phone in plastic cases and screen protectors to keep it in top notch condition.

Then I thought to myself, why am I effectively wrapping my iPhone in bubble wrap so that in 1-2 years time its as new for someone else?!?! Its a bit like buying a new car but not driving it much to maximize the returns on it when you come to sell it.

1-2 year old immaculate phones aren't worth much more than 'used' phones. People buying 2nd hand expect some wear and tear. Don't get me wrong, I understand the need to want to keep expensive possessions A1 perfect but that's stress we can all do without, right?

You paid topped dollar for your phone. Enjoy it now or someone else will when you sell it instead. Don't worry about what someone else will pay for it 1-2 years down the line. Why should they have the A1 condition phone you paid for?
