And what makes me wonder is that iphone has better screen than Samsung but still we have scratches while you don't.
Any screen has the capability of scratching, not just the iPhone. Unless it's the new Motorola that just came out the other day. That screen is unscratchable and unbreakable.

I've never used a screen protector on any of my devices. I've never found them to be necessary.

And by intensive I mean letting my girlfriend use it with her long nails, my 8 year old nephew plays games on it with his greasy and crumbly fingers from eating potato chips and peanuts. I put it in and out of my pocket a lot of times a day, also during cycling with a lot of friction. Sometimes the screen comes in contact with things like hair combs, remote controls and those kind of things. I have inspected my screen under all kinds of lighting and not a single hairline scratch or whatsoever.
Of course not. A material can be scratched by a harder material, not softer. Fingernails, potato chips, peanuts, whatever your pants are made of, combs and remotes are not harder than glass. If you can prevent contact with harder materials (including things like sand) then you can avoid scratches.

They may all be minor, but there's no way you never scratch your phones.
Never is a bit much of a claim. It's certainly possible though the odds are probably low.

Better how? As with any set of options there are pros and cons on both sides. Even if it was "better" that wouldn't mean that glass un unscratchable.

We don't wrap our cars up like this, why phones?
People do. Google clear bra (though you might get some unrelated hits with just those two keywords). Typically though, people cover parts that are prone to rock chips -- especially on sports cars which tend to be lower to the ground.

Regardless of whether you're for or against screen protectors it's a matter of preference and each needs to do what works for the individual. We do not all decide based on the preferences or experiences of one specific person. Each has to take whatever measures one is willing to take and considers worthwhile. For some that means not worrying about it at all. For others it's screen protector. For yet others it may be any combination of screen protector, case, insurance, etc. One size does not fit all.

I've been feeling the same way lately until today. I don't think I have ever dropped my iPhone, so that's why I thought why should I even have a screen protector? I was thinking about getting rid of it until today when I got out of the car, I had left my phone on my lap and it fell face down on to the ground! Ouch! Horrible sound! Picked it up and everything was fine! A few scratches but only on the screen protector, so I guess I'll be keeping it.

Ufff... That was sad.. See, things happen at the right time. This episode has made you take an important decision

Fingers and pockets pick up microscopic grit from the world around us and I promise that all you 'never had a scratch' peeps will see countless scratches in the coating on your screen if you look at it critically under a bright light. I always use a screen protector but I stay away from the cheap and nasty ones that feel horrid to slide over, look horrid and affect the eyes due to not being crystal clear.

"normal" people don't go around checking their phones under bright lights....there's no need for that

Nothing wrong with this. If I can keep my iPhones looking like new in a thin clear case and get a few extra bucks at the end of the the year because of it. That's a bonus in my book. That is just more money that I'll have to put towards my new iPhone. :)

as long as the phone doesn't have major scratches on the body or glass and we're only talking about light scratches to the oleophobic screen film then I can reassure you that the difference in the amount of money i get for my phone and you get for yours will be negligible. The kind of people who buy phones in 2nd hand are not looking for perfection, and are definately not expecting to get a new phone

Not correct for me. Depends largely on who you are selling it to. But I will not argue with you. I'll just keep doing what I've been doing and getting the expected amount from doing it. ;)

I agree, it is negligible which is why I don't use a case just to maintain resale value......there's isn't much to maintain.

I had 2 pairs of identical Oakley Titanium sunglasses. One had minor but visible scuff marks on the lens, the other pair didn't. They were both listed on eBay at the same time. I called out the condition of each in the auction description so no one would be misled. The pair of scuffed Oakley went for more £££ than the perfect pair. Go figure.

Those that expect a perfect phone don't buy 2nd hand - wear & tear is expected.

Bit of a late update. My glass screen protector came off a couple of days ago and have gone without since. It's amazing! Feels totally different and looks so sleek. Without is definitely the way forward!

Had the 6plus with one on Verizon.
Ditched Verizon got the iPhone yearly program from sprint and Apple care. Now I don't have a screen protector on my 6s because there's no reason to keep it the "best" condition because I don't get much value for it if I'm just going to get a brand new one every year.

Don't you have to turn the phone in?

I've never used screen protectors and this is the first iPhone I've ever had that got a scratch. And I baby my devices so I'm not even sure how or when it happened. :(

Been 35 days.. Lucky till now.. Just that it gets slippery when I use it lying down in my bed.. Maybe because of its size but guess even the 6s will be the same as it's because of the slippery aluminum at the back

I use to use a screen protector on my 3, 3GS, 4 and 4S. Stopped using one when I started using the 5 upwards.

The feeling of the screen on your fingertips is so much better than any screen protector. It's the decision if you want a nice feeling glass without no protection. That's the downside to it.

iPhone 4: I had all sorts of protectors, cases, glass layers, for the first two years. Removed them and haven't used for 2 years. Either I have been lucky, or it made no difference for me. I prefer naked phones.
iPhone 5s: had a cover only, tried a screen protector.. removed it after 3 weeks. Stopped using protection after the first 8 months of having the phone if i remember correctly, and have been using it naked since, no damage, not a scratch you can see.
iPhone 6sPlus: leather cover, no screen protection. I am SO scared because its so big it is easy to tip out of my hand, ppl bumping into me and in this fall weather, .. the wind (i almost dropped it yesterday). What a difference the size of the screen makes. I considered screen protection, but.. stubborn. I hope I don't end up paying for that. I love the leather case btw :)

If you have big hands then you can still take a chance by not putting any cover to the 6s+. You just need to be a little more careful and there you have your beauty bare naked with you
I haven't faced any issues as yet. I use it mostly with one hand and type just with a hand.. Typing on this phone is a pleasure compared to other smaller phones (including 6s). I type only using my thumb as I have gotten used to typing long texts etc during my message chats with my girlfriend few years back

Why use screen protectors at all? Never had one, never needed one. Always had pristine screens after 1-2 years of using my various smartphones. And i'm a heavy user. Most users aren't that careful with their belongings, i guess.
