I ordered a skin for my 7 Plus. I like the idea of using it without a case, but it's just too dang slipper to use one-handed. I'm hoping the added grip from the skin will help.

I've always been caseless since the original iPhone. When I got the 6 Plus, I started to drop the phone a lot. The aluminum finish is slippery, the shape is like a soup bar. Now I enjoy the apple silicone case for the grip and not have to worry about scratching the phone when placing it on different surfaces.

I am however considering going caseless with my JB 7+ again now that I got AppleCare+ for the first time. The grip is better with the new finish so hopefully I won't drop it as much. I'm waiting to see if there's a car wax like product that protect the finish against micro scratches.

I did have a case and screen protector on my 7 but I removed them both. I just love the look of the phone and really do not want to cover it up.

I never dropped several generations of iPhones with cases until my 6s+ fell caseless. It never slipped out of my hands, I put in on a chair and it slid between a crack and apparently bounced off two corners as I can see scuff marks in one corner and a small dent in another. So now my pristine 7+ MB is in a case.

Just got my JB+, I will put a case on it until my clear skin arrive then it will go that way!

I might still put the clear case back on it when I go for a night out with the lads though

I just ordered one of those Peel cases for my 6S. Been using the Apple silicone case. It's great, but it's a lint magnet and it doesn't really slide in and out of my jeans that easily. We'll see how it goes with the Peel.

The grip is excellent on the JB finish. I haven't had an anxious feeling about dropping or it slipping out at all. When I got my son's Black 7 (and when I had my temporary Black Plus, until my JB arrived), I felt I had to be extra careful due to how slippery it was. As well as the fact that it wasn't my phone and the other one I'd be returning, so I couldn't afford to damage it.

Anyway, been rocking my JB 7 Plus naked and don't intend to change that. I do have a red Apple silicon case for trips to theme parks or other crowded venues. I do have ~4 noticeable micro-abrasions on the back bottom of the iPhone near the antenna lines now that I look, but I never look for them and I handle my phone as I have with any other iPhone.

I'll note also, though, that I've had a 6 and a 6s in the past and they were super slippery too, but it didn't stop me from going caseless and "naked". I just can't stand skins or cases, and if I do use a case for temporary reasons, I can't wait to take it off.

Just got it the other day, but well noted. Will post back in a week or two with an update.
Thanks. I'll post mine as well as soon as it arrives and I install it, which should be this week sometime.

naked with applecare!! this is my first time ever going naked and i couldnt by any happier. the phone just feels amazing and soo sexy in my hands! i am glad i got applecare on it.

I have the Matte Black and I tried going case less while I waited for my leather Apple case to arrive. I agree that is very slippery. AppleCare or not, I would rather not take the chance for more than a few hours at home.

Plastic cases tend to cause damage over time especially if they don't hug the front very closely (lint and other debris gets behind them). This is very apparent on clear cases. Anyone who has used them will begin to see buildup of tons of debris in the back. My wife had wear damage from her plastic case but not enough for it to be marked down (she got full price for it from Apple).

My case has a felt interior so I'm certain I won't have damage. I noticed too that the Peel, Caudabe cases usually fit snug enough that there is no wear from those either - but you can't take them on/off regularly without damaging the case.

A lot of those cheap plastic cases result in damage over time.

I actually just decided this morning that I want to get the Apple Leather case. Ive dropped my 7 plus twice so far, but both times there wasn't anything I could do to stop it. The first time it slid out of my pocket and onto the car floor, then just this morning i grabbed it while plugged in and the charging cord got snagged and it tugged the phone out of my hand. I just need something with some grip

funny, I don't see how it "weren't your fault" when it slipped when you were handling it? Good thing it is still in good shape and didn't hit the hard ground though, getting protection would be a very good idea.

I just meant that there was nothing I could have done in the moment to prevent it. I should have rephrased.

Hah that makes more sense. Must have been shocking when it slipped yea.. I've been thinking of getting the :apple: Case too but the bottom opening is just too big.. I've dinged my iPad before due to the smart cover magnet area not covered by a back case so that opening doesn't give me peace of mind

I'm going caseless this time, but only because I can actually hold the 7+ without it slipping out of my hand like a bar of wet soap thanks to the Jet Black finish.

Yeah it'll get some scratches, not really bothered I'll be getting a new one next year.

Only you can decide how safe you feel without a case. Some people have been very unlucky, I've been fortunate. Even years ago when I worked demolition, my iPhone 3GS was dropped from about 50 feet up, hit god knows how many things on the way down and landed on concrete. Scratches, yeah a few little ones but amazingly it survived intact. I still have it, it still works.

If you're really worried, get AppleCare and you at least get two incidents of accidental damage replacement/repair, you just pay the excess.

I don't get it. You have Apple care +. Why do you worry about dropping it? I'm using it caseless but I consider buying an extremely thin case to get more grip but then I decided against it since it'll make the phone look cheap
