a new iPad in march makes sense.

the recent update was clearly just so they could have Lightning connectors across the line-up.

I don't understand the hate.

HP, Dell, Canon, Nikon... basically every electronics company makes new products all the time.

You don't have to buy them every single time.

But there is always someone who is ready for a new gadget... the new products aren't always for existing customers.

Japanese blog Macotakara is reporting that a redesigned fifth-generation iPad could arrive in March 2013.
Apple just released the fourth-generation iPad about two months ago, which could make this fifth-generation iPad, if the report is true, the second in five months. The design is said to have taken inspiration from the iPad mini and will be thinner and more lightweight. According to the site, the new iPad will 4mm, 17mm and 2mm smaller in height, width, and depth than the current models.

Previously, DigiTimes also reported that a new iPad could appear in the "Middle of 2013". Except for the fourth-generation iPad and iPad mini, new iPads are have traditionally released in the first couple months of the year.

Macotakara has been a source of accurate information in the past, predicting the design of this year's iPod Nano and iPod Touch.

I think the super thin iPad has no mechanical hard drive, it has SSD soldered on circuit board. People put their stuffs on iCloud.

My Family love it when Apple release a new iPad or iPhone, They know I'll be handing down the last model.

Tho the next model iPad will have to be something special to make it worth the purchase. The iPad 4th Gen currently has no lag and is fast in everything it does, Has heaps of resolution and 64GB is plenty of storage for now.

So, Better cellular antenna power for fringe areas, Thinner Body or 50% better battery would be suffice to make the upgrade.

Yes, that's what I'm waiting for. Well, maybe Apple could give the iPad mini an A7 so from a performance perspective it wouldn't be inferior to its bigger brother & the iPhone.

As for the iPad 5 coming in March, I'm sure Apple can't wait to release a regular iPad that fits in with the iPad mini and iPhone 5 from a styling perspective (also making it lighter and more comfortable to use). The iPad 4 feels obese compared to the mini. I think once the lighter, differently styled iPad 5 comes out, a lot of people with the first 4 generations will feel somewhat inferior with their bulky 3-year-old design iPads.

Don't think iPad Mini will have a A7/A7X. A6X should done fine for the Retina display. Plus I think that Apple wants to save the A& for the iPhone 5S.

Haha now instead of 3rd gen owners feeling like crap after the short release of the 4th gen now theyll share some of our pain. I'll be getting this next refresh for sure.

Really...

CALM DOWN. Seriously, I know the prodcuts you make are epic and awesome but Steve at least spaced the release dates for people to save up enough and buy the newest best device. Now 6 months or less apart, these releases are getting ridiculous. :( At least offer some kind of buy back.. something:confused:

The world that Steve lived in no longer exists.

This is why Jobs chose Tim Cook as CEO.

He didn't want someone who was a mere copy of him, he wanted someone who would do what is best for Apple. That includes releasing products earlier if it needs to stay competitive.

Apple is doing all of us a favor. They're releasing new tech quicker.

How about you stop buying every generation of product like its an OCD hobby? You just bought a tablet that works great and now because its barely outdated, it no longer works for you.

LOL

Thinner Bezel iPad 9.7"

If the iPad 5 comes out with thinner bezels, wouldn't that make the screen bigger than 9.7"?

If this is true then great. I recently sold my first generation iPad and was looking into getting the new iPad (4th Generation). However if this rumour is true then i will hold my purchase till then.

While it may be frustrating that Apple released the iPad 4 soon after iPad 3 people are in no way obliged to get the latest. I certainly don't. I bought my first iPhone available in Australia which was the iPhone 3G and didn't upgrade till the iPhone 4S came out. The same case happening for the iPad and what I do with all other electronics.

are we really complaining that the ipad is being upgraded so relatively soon? your current ipad isn't going to be any worse

Exactly. If you are that frustrated by not having the "latest and greatest" then don't buy apple products. Apple has to keep innovating to stay on top.

I'm glad they are updating the ipad. My wife's Ipad 3 is lte too heavy and bulky (particularly in comparison to her old ipad 2). She would get the ipad mini but she doesn't want to give up the amazing high res screen. This is exactly what she's looking for.

Yeah

I will NEVER stop buying Apple products but how can you say it's not disappointing having just purchased something that pretty much becomes instantly "out dated"? Regardless the release dates have been far closer then ever before. I don't see an advantage for consumers. It's all about making money, and it very much more evident then ever before, especially with Apple. Yes they make great products, yes people will buy them and YES people do buy every generation of products like it's an OCD hobby because that is exactly what it is. Bitter sweet. :apple: LOL

haha Perfect!:apple::D:rolleyes:

Instead of putting new hardware updates out, they better have their OS revamped. This is seriously starting to lag compared to competition.

Because I currently use an iPad 1 and an iPhone 4...

As you can see my devices could probably considered outdated, but the thing is, they still work fine (well I'm planning to get an iPad mini with Retina). Using your device for a long time makes it actual feel like it has some value.

Since I don't upgrade every year, I don't feel the instantly outdated feeling.

The advantage to consumors is that people that don't have an iPad can get the iPad with the newest technology. People that want to upgrade from iPad 1 or 2 can get a great update.

Your forgetting that a lot of people don't upgrade every year blindly.

Good points

The only downside to having something that is "outdated", (at least with apple products) is that certain software advances quickly become inoperable on older devices. Sure people who don't currently own an ipad or macbook pro will be able to purchase great products but those products they buy will very quickly become last years model much quicker then before. Though I do understand your points. People who don't care much about having the latest and greatest, won't have an issue with the rapid release dates.

The solution is so easy you're going to kick yourself. Get ready...wait for it...don't freakin' buy every new model that comes out! Now, wasn't that simple?
