Honestly, what on earth is going on with these posts.

I didn't get my phone yet and I am already worried about slanted text on the back, bent iPhones for being in the pockets, loose home buttons, and other issues (that are not really that serious).

But now I'm aware of these and it sucks, I should really stop reading here, it's contagious.

Relax. They are just super excited with new iDevice and want to do everything they can in first few days. :)

I am of the opinion that some folks make up stories just to create or respond to a post. Some phones do have issues, but they are a significant minority.

You guys are right, people would come here looking for solutions to a problem they have, I don't see any post discussing about the iPhone regarding other subjects.

Yup that's how life works. Somehow we never win lottery but we are more than likely to get a phone with dead pixels among another million phones

There are probably a couple hundred cranks and worse out of what, 7 billion, who are responsible for these posts year after year. It's no different than a typical sports forum or stock forum. Maybe 1% of this vanishingly small amount of noise is legitimate; it just seems otherwise because it's so concentrated here.

Rubbish. The Ipad Air had the biggest thread ever on the Apple Support forums because of screen issues. People who put down those with issues are terrible people who are willing to allow a company that charges a premium price get away with selling less than premium products. There are real issues and more and more issues with every new product launch, this is something that needs pointing out so it can be fixed, just putting up with what you're given is a very bad way to live your life.

Most of these issues started when Apple brought in new tech for thinner screens it's not a coincidence. They now have a new filter and low and behold more screen issues. Not enough testing before they launch products.

Best advice is don't be an early adopter and wait for issues to be solved before you buy.

Yeah sure people just make up stories? Are you that dense? Mass produced items, especially tech items tend to have major issues in the first few months that;s the same for all companies. People need to bring them to light to make sure they are fixed. Apple charges a premium and therefore should be held to a higher standard than cheap Android devices. People aren't making things up and idiots like you who say otherwise are just encouraging bad company practices. Just because you are ignorant to issues doesn't mean others have to be.

That's why you have :
- a return policy to exchange your phone if you have a problem out of the box
- Applecare+ to get a new phone if it breaks, if it bends or anything else
- Home insurance with coverage if your phone gets stolen

That's what allows you not to worry overmuch. If your phone has a defects you can just deal with it for a few dozen dollars at much. It's the same with my expensive bike: I know it can be stolen, but then, I also know it's insured and that it will only set me back $150 at worst.

It's useful to have the list of potential defects, because that is those you will check right when you get the phone in order to get an exchange inside the 14 days windows. Actually, if you have the phone activated at the Apple store, I would check these as soon as the phone is out of the box, in front of the Apple employee...

All internet forums devolve into this. You could start a forum based on the idea of world peace and I guarantee within a few days people would be at each others throats.

In a sense, maybe, but not when it causes you to notice and be bothered by unimportant things like the writing on the back being slightly slanted, which you probably never would have paid any mind to if people didn't bring it up here.

The problem is that on the internet you tend to hear a lot from the people who aren't happy, but the millions who are fine are too busy enjoying their phones. Not many people are going to make a thread just to say "everything's a-okay with my phone!" It creates a very skewed perspective of product quality.

In that case I would recommend not visiting Mac rumours. I do not understand why the OP would come on here and complain about people having various discussions about Apple products. No one forced him to click on the threads and read about the issues in detail.

The other thing, you have 14 days to return your phone. To be honest, for the amount I am paying for these, I want to know I have no issues. Cause after 14 days, if I happen to find the issue myself, I'm stuck with it.

----------

No, because I don't want to go back and exchange my phone for a slanted text, due to the fact that I would have never realized that.

Better to find out in the 14 day return period with the help of the community, than months down the track by yourself, and be stuck with the defect.

To be really blatantly honest, this is MR, if you do not like it, you might want to find another site. Though I warn you, even when you go to the official apple discussion forums, exactly the same issues are raised. So you might want to avoid forums sites, and only read reviews.

Great, now I'm freaking out about the text on the back of my phone!

It's called curiosity, I bought a premium priced product then read an article with a headline describing potential faults. You think I'll just ignore that ?

Sorry :(

I know what you mean! I currently have an iPhone 5 32GB I've had for 2 years that I still love. I preordered the iPhone 6 Plus but later cancelled because I had decided it didn't make sense to get a new phone when my 5 serviced me perfectly fine. Ended up changing my mind yet again and preordered another Plus, only to cancel it again the next day after watching first impression vids and reading stuff on here about it being too big! Ended up preordering a regular 6 which is still preordered through Apple, said 7-10 days to ship and it's been about 5 now so should be shipping soon.

However I've been reading through a bunch of stuff on this forum this past few days and it's making me want to cancel again and just keep my iPhone 5 another year or 2. It seems to me that it's probably 100% true that there's something wrong with the camera on all of them in that the edges of things are fuzzy? That really sucks if so because I don't notice that with my iPhone 5 pictures they look great! Really the only things I really want the new one for is the touch ID which I'd use constantly, slo mo video which I'd probably rarely use, and the larger screen which I may find could be annoying since the 5 seems to be perfectly sized. I dunno, it's just so confusing and I don't know what to do! :(

Don't forget about the rapid ticking/clicking that is so faint you have to be in a silent room to hear.

Go to silent room
Wake phone by pressing home or sleep/wake button
touch the touch ID and hold it as close to your ear as you can (while touching touch ID)
Listen

You're going to have the most inspected iPhone yet!

Grrrrr really!? Thx! :p

A lot of people think negatively for example bent phones 3 people have bent phones and people go into panic mode saying oh my God Apple your build quality sucks the 5s build was so good

You need to go to a store and physically look at the phone and then decide. You have to look at any forum and judge it with a grain of sand. Everyone will have a different experience. Also, this is technology we are talking about. No two things, be it a computer or phone or anything technology will be exactly alike, it's kinda like finger prints. Try not to base your decision solely what is said on forums. And I don't think this forum or any forum is unhealthy. It's all in how you interpret the information being said.

A coworker brought his iPhone 6 to me yesterday to look at so I saw it in person and it was gorgeous, the icons really popped on screen almost looked like they were 3D or something it looked really amazing! The thing is I'm not going to notice little things such as some apps look fuzzy (not optimized yet hopefully), photos look fuzzy on the edges, back text is crooked, glass is partially separated in one spot, screen is yellow, etc etc without using my own for hours or a day or 2 so just looking at one for a few min isn't going to help aside from getting an overall picture of yes this looks great or not.

I'm just trying to justify in my head how it could be even near worth $750 to upgrade from my iPhone 5 and honestly I don't think it would be worth it when the one I have still has awesome battery, looks great, does what I need it to do, etc etc. I do have a feeling too that Apple may release a refreshed version like 6S or something in a year or so from now that possibly will have a better camera, more RAM, redesigned bezzle, etc and that would really piss me off if I didn't wait for that! :)

Has anyone brought up the fact that over 10,000,000 phones were sold over opening weekend, that means that if only 0.1% had defects that equals 10,000 phones. That's a lot of phone for such a small defect rate.

Funny, I just posted my complaint on another thread. It was about all the silly (IMO) complaints that people have. The experience you have will depend mostly on YOU. Are YOU a person that complains about everything? Or are you willing to accept that absolutely nothing in life is perfect?

I got the 6, and I am extremely happy with it so far. My text is not slanted, None of the buttons are loose, and it hasn't "bent" yet, although I keep it in my front pocket, not my BACK pocket (it's not a wallet, its an electronic device).

The ONLY issue I've seen so far is I do have a couple of Wi-Fi drops when I'm on my 5ghz network at home, but for now I'm using the 2.4 and it works flawlessly. I'm sure this will get resolved with a future iOS update.

the home button is a little more "Clicky" than my old 4S, but I understand the 5S was the same. Its the fingerprint scanner. But honestly, this is barely noticeable, and I've gotten used to it already in less than a week.

That's it. Just wait till you get the phone, you will love it. If not... there's always the alternative :). But don't listen too much to all the complaints. Its what people do. Heck, go to a shoelace forum and I bet you'll find complaints there too.

Resistance is futile.
If you can't beat them join them.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I could list more cliches but I won't. :)

the average consumer device had a fault rate of 4%.

0.1 percent vs 4%....

think about it.

It's only unhealthy in the same way that alcohol, chocolate, or coffee are unhealthy: it's contingent upon self-control from the consumer.

Everything in moderation. Don't blame others (be they forum members or people who drink) for your bingeing.

Apple sold over 10 million iPhones. People who are happy and enjoying their perfect device don't usually go on internet forums complaining about them. What you are seeing is the small percentage of people who have problems and thus are compelled to post about it. I say the chances of you getting a perfect phone are much higher.
