LOL @ OP... You are wrong if you think any previous iPhones look better than the 6 and 6 plus.. They also look better than any other smartphone ever made.. All Apple products are amazingly designed year after year. And they just keep getting better

well at this moment, 47.32% of people in this thread have voted that iphone 6 is the best design.

Which means 52.68% have voted for a iPhone design which is not the 6.

Lmao@ android users not liking the back of the 6. Have you seen the back of some of these android phones?

And how are the antenna bands any worse than the two tone back of the 5?

Obviously the bezels. The color really has nothing to do with it.

I would say the color has something to do with it. On the 5S, the rear had bezel sections the same color as the front bezels. That made the back an excellent mirror of the front. The 6 looks like someone took a sharpie and drew lines across the back of the device.

4 > 6>>>>>>>>field>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>5

the 4 was a transformative product that aligned perfectly with the ethos of apple
6 seems to be a design slightly ahead of its time. Somewhat muted by the standard presence of home buttom and large chin/forehead, but the utility of thinness and curved sides along with the unabashed protruding camera give it a lot of character.
5 is extremely muted and uninspiring. it's a box and the breaks in color are too harsh.

I was about to write something similar, but agree completely with your assessment.

On a side note, I think the current design works with the 6 slightly better than the 6 Plus. This is both because the home button takes up a higher % of space on the chin (less empty bezel) and because rolling your thumb over the curved glass to swipe forward or back seems to come more naturally to its size.

If you only think in literal terms I can see how you might come to that conclusion, but the bands are a more abstract representation of the front design. And they don't look like sharpie lines to me. I don't find them unattractive at all. I'm pretty neutral on them. They're a functional necessity that are handled relatively elegantly as I see it. YMMV.

In what universe is the iPhone 2g in the same ballpark as the 3G?

The 2g had a much better build than the 3G and it is still my favourite iPhone to date. If anything, the iphone 6 is a homage to that design and I love it for it. The iPhone 6 is imo the best design since the original iphone

I don't ONLY think in literal terms, as I can see the abstract representation quite clearly. However, I personally don't think that this abstract representation is attractive, certainly not as attractive as the actual mirroring of the bezels on the 5S.

Even you, who are defending them, admit that at best you're neutral on them. They're not a positive design feature. They do perform a necessary function, but I think there were other solutions that could have been more aesthetically pleasing.

I'll say this though, I'll be we both agree that the antenna lines on the 6 are preferable to the black or white strip of plastic at the top of cellular iPads.

That's 1 way to look at it because you are having iPhone 6 against 4 other designs.
The other way to look at it is that for every single iPhone design, iPhone 6 have scored as the best of all models, according to the voters on this poll. 102 votes now, followed by 60 votes for iPhone 5/5s.

And it's all a matter of preference. Personally I think 6 is the best design, after that is the 5.

I think all of the iPhones were the best-looking smartphones of their time. I know that I can always count on Apple to make beautiful products that work well.

the person who i was replying to originally said you are an idiot if you dont think the 6 has the best design.

More than half the people currently voted for a non 6 design, so clearly he either does not know the meaning of the word idiot, or he probably is one.

Well, people should not call names because that is very low, specially when it comes down to personal preferences, though I admit that I have done it myself once or twice on a heated argument and I don't feel good about it.

However, I do disagree with you on the part that I have highlighted. Even though more then half of the people voted non iP6 design, since you have 5 options there and clearly the iPhone 6 have scored the highest from all of them, that is so far by now the winner on this poll. If your poll would have been with 2 options iP6 design and prior designs, then the prior designs would have won. But you have 5 options and you have to look which one have the highest score.

Best iPhone design of all time? For me that would be the iPhone 4....its what led to the design of the 5/5S and for me was the pivotal moment in Apple history where the iPhone suddenly started to become even more common....the 3G and 3GS made it more affordable and while I saw considerable amounts of 3GS's the iPhone 4 is where I saw the iPhone everywhere.....it will always have a special place in my heart and its a phone I could use do this day as a "basic phone", in fact It was the 4 that was sold for considerably longer than other models because it is affordable in countries without subsidies and sufficient for basic use as well as advanced use (albeit slower). Its left a mark in history and everytime I see it in a movie or TV show I smile a bit.

Currently though? The Space Grey iPhone 5S is stunning to me, sometimes I wish my 6 was simply an enlarged version of the 5S because I really really like the look.

So like all new iphone releases I have been showing off my iPhone to my friends, most of them android users.

They always comment on how design wise the iPhone looks so good but this time they were not impressed design wise.

They are saying the iPhone 4/4s and 5/5s design was better looking.

And I can see where they are coming from. By the way feature wise, screen quality etc I'm pretty happy with (im a plus user).

The front looks very nice, very shiny well polished, very sleek.

However the back looks poor. The thick lines running across are very striking, and not in a good way, people are commenting negatively on these lines.

And so they should because no other apple product has thick lines running across, and none of the competitor devices do except for htc m8 which does it in a very sleek manner, not thick like iPhone.

The plasticky rubbery texture of the lines severely dents the built quality, looks unfinished and toyish.

You wouldnt expect a device like the macbook air or mac pro to have thick rubbery lines running across it.

Any way I personally think the iPhone 4/4s generation was the strongest design, so sleek, glass, felt and looked so premium. Obviously if they made it glass with the current thinness it would look immense.

Anyone else feel the current iPhone design is one the worst?

Personally I love the looks of the device and looking at the latest sales figures and back order issues, 10-15 million folks and rising think the same way as I do!

45%
25%
22%
3%
1%

Which of those is the biggest? Which of those represents the most votes?

That's, correct! It's 45%, which is the iPhone 6 poll option.

Do you truly not understand that what you said above doesn't mae any sense whatsoever?

I'm sorry but I'll be the weirdo here.

My favorite is the 3G and 5c designs.

The metal and glass just don't hold up to me very well. Yes, it's my fault I'm a bit tough on my devices sometimes. My 5c is a real trooper, seriously.

I like the look. Granted looks are well, subjective. In my eyes, the iPhone 6 made my iPhone 5 look like an old brick. However, I've felt that way for every iteration of the iPhone that I've owned (3GS to 4 to 5 to 6). I do like the curved glass.

Only thing that's really stood out for me in terms of design are the bands -- because I have no opinion. I've seen a few "ugly" comments about them. I don't even notice the bands because I rarely look at the back of the phone.

Personally, I disagree. The 6/6 plus looks awesome. IMO the iPhone didn't really start looking "sexy" until the 4. The original iPhone to the 3GS was pretty ugly IMO. The i5 series wasnt bad. In fact, the gold 5S was downright beautiful. The i6/6+ are great looking phones. The space gray looks the best IMO.

That photo is what made me switch from white to black this year. I love my SG iPhone 6 and am using that wallpaper on my lock screen.
