Making a phone that is a half-inch taller but not wider makes no sense to me. I sure hope the rumors are false or it's back to Android and an S3 for me. I love my iPhone but I want a BIGGER phone, just as millions of others do too.

The iPhone is 17% of the smartphone market, excellent for a single model, but they could have twice that is they'd make a BIGGER phone. Hey here's an idea... How about TWO different models? What a concept, choice. They offer many different computer and iPod models, so why this one phone fits all mentality. Not everyone wants a puny phone and for millions of people, that is the ONLY reason they don't have an iPhone.

What would be hilarious is Tim walking on stage and saying "this is our agenda for today", and up pops on screen the Op's write up !

Lol.

At this point it doesn't matter ( for me). I'm done.

I just bought my S3 after buying all iphones (first day since 07). I Love the size of this new phone. It's exactly what I wanted. WIDTH! What a concept. It is a long time coming - for me.

I'll get the wider iphone after apple milks everyone with the 'tall' version and then the 'S' version of the 'tall' iphone. You know apple will eventually go wider,- after the milking of the fan boys is done.

I agree. I would prefer a wider phone then just taller.

you know what the best part is?
The fact that I will still watch the damn keynote, knowing the same damn thing is going to happen every single time.

Hopefully there will be some sort of a surprise.....like tim juggling 5 ipod nanos, showing the accuracy and robustness of the accelerometer

lol! Nice one..

You forgot the bit where they say "Our customers are telling us how much they love using... {insert hardware/software of choice}..."

..I always wonder who these customers are, that are always consulted, and always complimentary. These customers never ask for any changes or improvements.. they just love everything.

Basically every apple user it seems.

:D

But it's obviously rhetoric, as we know from Steve that Apple's vision is always to internally drive development, rather than respond to the customer voice.
People have argued that's why Apple is the company it is, and others like Microsoft have struggled, as they try to incorporate every customer requests, leading to bloated office software.

I'd love to hear Tim or Phil describe how "customers are telling us they love the maps on the phone, but want a way to control caching of maps, ready for being in an area without signal"... or "customers are telling us they love how thin the iphone is, but actually don't want us to make it even thinner, at the expense of battery life"....

Oh almost forgot. They always show that long video detailing how they made it, how it will change your life, and Jony Ive's sweet voice.

Because then Apple wouldn't be able to recycle all of their old phone parts that didn't sell into their new S line. They might have to junk the spares then!

Unless of course they continued the trend.

Yup, you're market research is obviously so much better than Apple's. What was that last project you worked on?
