Uh.... not everyone is going to use Blu-tooth. I tried out blu-tooth tethering "once" but other than that, I use the included wired headphones so I have no need to keep blu-tooth on. I also do not need WiFI since I have a data plan.

The only time I've had WiFI on was to benchmark and to sync wirelessly in 1Password or Delicious Library.

I'm happy with the battery power... I'm usually near a charger: usb @ work / vehicle charger in the car / wall charger @ home. It also seems like everyone I know and would visit have an iPhone or iPod.

So basically, if you really want to enjoy everything on the iPhone, you need all the settings On(wifi,3g,bluetooth,push, etc.), but the battery will drain fast.

But if you want better battery life as they put on the specs, you need to turn everything off(wifi,3g,bluetooth,push, etc.) and set your brightness to almost nothing?

You're complaining about standby time. The only thing you can "enjoy" in standby is the look of the phone with the screen turned off.

That's not false advertisement. It can be duplicated as already mentioned.

Now Steve's claim last year that the 3G was cheaper, well.....

I just think it is funny that they run their "Legal Copy" Mac/PC Ad and then advertise the same way.

I get what I consider great battery life. If I'm playing a game I know I'm eating my battery super-fast.

I leave Wi-Fi on, location services on, brightness at 60%, 3G on, fetch every 15 min, and push on (mobile me and notifications). My battery life is great. 5 hours of usage, a lot of hours on standby. I'm happy.

And yet on my 3G I have 3g on, wifi on, bluetooth on, Beejive push on, locaton services on, 3 hours 45 minutes of usage and 40% battery left.

That's quire a lot. I usually have, on my 3G, 3G on, push on, wifi off, location services off, bluetooth off and I usually have arount 70% batterly left after 12 hours of standby, some texting and some phone calls..

Why do you have bluetooth on and why 3G and wifi on at the same time?

I just don't get people for as long as I have had cell phones, you can not expect to have the same results as they post. If your concern is just battery life then don't get a smartphone. Tell me a touch screen iphone or iphone killer with incredible battery life, Pre seems to be worse, my friends storm does not seem any better than my iphone. Can the battery life be better yes, has the battery life been gettting better yes? People whine and complain that they can not make 6 hours of phone calls, do nav for an hour, do 200 texts, and surf the internet for 5 hours and still want battery life left over. Just compare the battery life to other similar phones out there and the iphone is just as good if not better. We all have a choice for a little better battery life go with a non Blackberry bold or non storm similar.

My battery is not as good as I would like, but it is good, iphone users also play more music, surf the net more than most smartphone users. Like a previous user stated you want better battery life go to edge and turn every thing off, or better yet turn everything off and turn on airplane mode. Quit whining and enjoy the phone.

Why do you have bluetooth on and why 3G and wifi on at the same time?

I know the question was not directed at me, but I have all of those on as it is convenient to do so and I am seeing more than acceptable battery life in that configuration.

If I knew I was going to be away from power for an extended period I would turn off what I did not explicitly need until I needed it. But on a day-to-day basis ... if I had to do that to get through the day then I would have to find another device, tool or solution.

But then given the fluidity of my environment and usage that would have me fiddling around in settings several times an hour. And that is just not tenable. Happily I do not have to do that.

I leave 3G,bluetooth and Wi-Fi on all the time, have to push apps. sync calendars and address book over-the-air, check 5 emails accounts every 15 minutes, and I twitter, email and text often as well as talk 30-60 minutes a day. At the end of the day, after 19 hours, I may get the 20% warning before I plug it in.

The only thing I recommend, turn the display brightness down. The screen uses more power in 5 minutes than the rest of the phone uses in an hour.

My numbers are fantastic. Make sure you all calibrated your battery by running it to 0% and letting it shut off. The first day my battery ran down really fast. After calibration, its amazing.
