The app for this module gives credit where it's due... and fwiw, I think it's still impressive.

Unfortunately the broken options button seems to be a macOS issue affecting other third party screen savers as well. The workaround is to quit and reopen System Settings. I've created a simple saver that reproduces the issue and filed feedback to Apple.

I've updated the Afterglow help page with a note on this. I'll continue to explore other workarounds. 😢

Only thing I’ve noticed (Sequoia) so far is that the display on a vertical monitor is wonky. Aspect ratio is odd, for sure.
 
Some additional things I've noticed.

  1. When searching modules on my 2015 MB Pro (Sequoia) in the search bar of the app, it only allows me to type one letter at a time. If I click back in I can add one additional letter, having to click back in again to add another.
  2. When enabling the CRT filter, the frame rate drops significantly. Not sure if that's because it requires more processing.
  3. Are the MultiModules accessible within the OS System Settings? I can't find them.
  4. Gosh, I love this. Thank you for the memories! I'm having too much fun with this.
  5. Changing the picture in Logo doesn't seem to work. Also, hitting the Picture button in fullscreen requires you to back out of fullscreen to see and edit the setting.
  6. When deleting modules, you have to delete each screen saver individually. I removed all the Myst ones, but the Internet Archive Online Collection still shows a checkmark that it is installed. If I select View in Library, the deleted module will still show with no selectable screen savers. Perhaps an uninstall button can be added?

Hi Jeff,

The most up-to-date Mac I have here is my 2017 iMac running Ventura, and AfterGlow won't run on that. Will you supporting older MacOS in the future? If not, I guess it's time to buy the new machine I've been putting off for 4 years.

Have you considered installing Sequoia with OpenCore Legacy Patcher? Definitely backup your iMac once or twice before doing it.

I've considered it but I have my hands full with Debian / KDE at the moment, and thats all the OS projects I want around here right now. I don't want to do anything to take my iMac - my most reliable machine in the house - out of service. Believe me when I say I'd rather just buy another machine. i'm way overdue, just trying to wait out the memory price bump.

"Screen Grab" = Hastily taken photos between meetings of the easiest module to see about which I'm referencing, LOL.

You'll see the Flying Toasters in my MacBook and horizontal monitor, and how they stretch upwards in the vertical monitor.

Hi Jeff. There was a user-configurable screensaver on my late-90's PC that I have been trying to find. It might have been called Purple or one of the modules had that name? It made fantastic geometric shapes and patterns with a myriad of colors. I have never seen anything as good since. Someone mentioned Afterglow in your program that name sounds familiar too. Any idea what I am remembering? Is it your program?

No guarantees, but you can try this one-off build that I created to run on my old 2018 MacBook Pro:

One-off Afterglow test builds outside the mainline release channel.

It's unlikely I'll update this build going forward, but it seems to work well enough.

Can you give this a shot and let me know if this looks better on your vertical display? You might want to try the new Pixel Perfect toggle as well to see which one looks better.
