Another ooh and ahh thread (Don’t read if your a hater)

I’ve owned many iPhones and the X is unreal. I keep staring at it because it doesn’t even seem real. Everything from the animation, the painting like screen, the gestures, that Taptic Engine, the tone change, that phenomenal full screen (especially viewing photos), and the damn absolute perfect premium quality of the device in my hand is blowing my mind. I’m usually able to take these devices for what they are and have my honeymoon phase end almost immediately after using it..but this one is special.

Anybody else not able to stop using/looking at this thing? 😱

I upgraded from the 6+ and this screen is heaven. I’m so glad apple finally got an oled. I don’t even notice the notch. It kinda looks cool up there.

Yea, I hear ya. Cost is something I am not exactly sure how they will handle next year. I anticipate a slight reduction, but not much. 6.1 LCD for $799, 5.8 OLED for $899, and 6.4 OLED for $999 is my guess (or hope).
Apple has never ever reduced prices. What's going to happen is $1300'for X Plus, $1000 for X and $749 for the budget iPhone. Plus users are gonna get shafted next year as the LCD display on the 6.1 is less sharper than on the Plus and is a TFT low cost display rather the IPS one currently on the Plus. It also won't have dual cameras as since they have brought FaceID and the bezelless design at that price point they will cut corners in those respects. I really am scared of what the X Plus is gonna cost as I pay outright for my phones. I really think it's $1300

Who knows what will happen next year though? Apple have never had to reduce prices in a previously booming smartphone market. That market has been shrinking of late though with people keeping phones longer due to a plateau on the technology front and rising prices. They must be aware the X won’t appeal to everybody at its price point but at the same time want it available to a larger market. I think they’ll have to consider making it more affordable. A cheaper stale iPhone just doesn’t cut it and hopefully they’ve learned that from the iPhone 8.

I'm Also curious to see this rumored 6.1 LCD iPhone they're offering next year as well. It likely will have a cheaper price point and it will still offer some of the current features of the iPhone X with gesture controls and Face ID.

I’m not so interested in that phone other than it’s price and what Apple feel it needs to offer. It’s going to be too big for my uses so won’t be on my radar. I think Apple got the size right with the X to suit a larger segment of the market, they just cocked up the pricing. They should have scrapped the 8 and put the X in its place and reserved the obscene premium for an X Plus IMO.

I'm curious to see it and what exactly the changes were made to what it will actually look like. But if it's anything like the Plus model now, 6.1 is going to be a fairly large device.

No point to it as it has an inferior display to my current Plus and will not have dual cameras.

I just want a 64GB X Plus at $1100 in the worst case scenario. Keeping my fingers crossed.

How do you know that?
Kuo said it comes with TFT LCD technology and not IPS LCD. TFT is an inferior solution to IPS and is actually an older technology.IPS monitors have always been more expensive than TFT panels. It also has a lower PPI than the Plus phones as it's between 300-350. The Plus has 401PPI. The technology is also inferior to the smaller iPhones we have right now. Your iPhone 6s has IPS LCD

What Kuo said makes sense because there is absolutely no way Apple will give a 6.1 iPhone, i.e. a bigger screen than the Plus,FaceID and a bezelless design for less than what the Plus phones cost currently. They have to cut corners somewhere and that's with the display and cameras. The camera part is guesswork but if the price is starting at $649-700 as rumoured they won't give it dual cameras. The model is aimed at developing and low cost markets so it will cost $649 and have these trade offs.

So you get a new design and FaceID but lose a good quality screen for a bigger bezelless screen. Plus users have no choice but to look at the X Plus if they want everything the current Plus has in a bezelless design.

If true then that seems like a silly way of cheapening their brand. If they are still charging a premium but insinuating it’s a budget device then it’s pretty similar to what Samsung do. I’m not at all bothered about having an iPhone with an OLED screen, but a screen of worse quality than my 6S would be puzzling. Not that this has much to do with me as I’m not the target market for a 6.1” iPhone. I want a decent standard iPhone at its previous premium price point.

You could be right. If they kept the X at $999, I’d guess $1149 for Plus.

ahhhhhhh yall are making me want to press the buy button on the one I have found in store to purchase online. I bought the 8+ and am having no issues with it but cannot help but love the classic side look and all these positive insanely great reviews of the new X. (before you hate I bought the 8+ knowing full well that my wife would need a new phone very soon and would just give it to her if the X took my money) Im on the fence....... Someone with an X push me or pull me back to reality!

The X is awesome.

You are welcome.

P.S. In my house when I upgrade, my husband gets my older tech. So I am also thinking of the win for your wife here - she gets the 8+. Win-win all around the household! Happy wife happy life and all that.

Do it. Click the buy button. It’s worth it.

A big part of the price issue is the reported $110 price tag for each OLED panel for the X which goes straight into Samsung's coffers. It's a win win for Samsung. 🙂

LOL.... 🙂

I confess that I am still in the honeymoon phase and realizing what huge leaps forward they've taken with this device.

Face ID is staggeringly simple. You're unlocking your phone with what is basically a single finger swipe.

This morning I woke up, in a haze thought I still owned an iPhone 6, reached over to my nightstand and felt my wireless charger, realized I had an iPhone X, and felt a rush of warmth and comfort fall over my entire body.

Do it man. I jumped from an 8 to an X the moment I was able to pin one down (2.5 hours away, mind you) and don’t have a single regret. I’m so enamored with it AND the navy blue leather case I got with it. It even smells incredible. 😱
