Was it whilst exporting that it started to get warm or was it already warming up a good deal when you were just 'playing', composing, editing in iMovie.
It's ok for me when exporting. I can do that at night or on my desk but I'll use it on my lap ( not my chest...) quite a bit when 'playing' in iMovie.

It starts to warm up when you start playing around in iMovie but didn't hit those temps in the 80s until I started exporting.

Using Safari. Have you tried streaming videos on it yet? sit it on your chest while streaming videos, you'll feel it.

Your first issue is using Safari in the first place... I'll never use anything but Chrome - also, weren't you telling people not to buy these....?

No actually Chrome runs god awful on most Macs, Safari is built to run on Apple hardware, but use what you like best.

Going by the Intel gadget post it's clear to see no throttling is taking place just smart cpu management.

If normal use of the laptop results in "smart" cpu management that reduces performance because the thing overheats, then Apple REALLY pulled one over on the customer this time. If (arbitrary number here) 1.0ghz is all the speed this machine can use due to thermal issues, then wow.

I really hope that isn't the case.

Ya, chrome sucks on Mac (quite literally). The Verge has a recent post somewhere where they tested Chrome vs Safari on the new MacBook, and using Safari resulted in 3.5 extra hours of battery life. Ditch Chrome.

I doubt I'll ever have heat problems because I don't plan on using it for anything strenuous. I've been downloading stuff and watching a few uncompressed 1080p videos on it. No heat issues so far. I wouldn't dare edit anything on this, that would be foolish, but I also have a Mac Pro so....

so it doesn't get hot while you're watching porn then.... :p

My Macbook is sitting at a pretty cool temperature right now. It is the same temp as the UPS truck it will be in until WED.
