It doesn’t look fine to me — I can’t stand unevenness and color tint when viewed head-on.

Some people can’t tolerate color shift instead. To each their own.

As for the majority, I think most users would say to keep it, simply because it’s a Samsung, even with that obvious uniformity issue.

But if there were even the slightest hint of color shift when tilted, the same people would probably shout “return it!” and call it awful or terrible — even if the screen were perfectly uniform and flawless when viewed straight on.

I think the thing is no panel is perfect pretty sure they don’t exist it’s a matter of acceptance and relative tolerance

In regular use are you happy or are you bummed every time you pickup and look at the phone?

If the former, keep
If the latter, return/exchange

It could be the camera but the photo provided looks pretty good to me, nothing overtly glaring.

But if in person it is, switch it up. Just know that you very well could get one with worse issues. It’s pretty common that people go further down the rabbit hole and end up worse off

Out of his three devices he compares current, sounds like 2 of 3 are worse and only one is a bit better. Looking for a Goldilocks might not be worth his time and gas and all that

I have a base 17 and when True Tone and/or night mode is on the screen looks notably uneven more warm at the top. Disable them it seems to be ok. Anyone else with the same issue. G9Q display

I'm with my 17 pro for a week after returning the regular 17. And I feel my 17 pro has a bit pink at the bottom when looking straight at the screen (night mode and true tone are on). Not sure whether it's common or not? It's G9P panel

These 3 pics are for the same 17 pro

In comparison, 17 pro is on the right, and another is 17. Both are G9P panels. The 17 looks more yellow, but whole screen.

Couldn’t agree more. When looking at the screen straight on, unless the unevenness is really noticeable, I don’t think it’s worth driving yourself crazy trying to find the “perfect” display.

I’ve often thought a panel looked flawless, only to notice — after some use — that under certain lighting conditions there was a slight difference in brightness or tint between the top and bottom areas. Subtle, yes, but still there. My current iPhone shows the same thing.

I believe light refraction plays a big role in how evenly we perceive a display.

I even made some custom wallpapers to test panel uniformity, but our eyes are easily tricked — the Dynamic Island at the top makes the upper portion appear darker than it really is.

And one last thing: posting photos is pointless! They never represent what your eyes actually see — the camera lens almost always alters the true tint and uniformity of the panel.

Yea mine is a G9Q and mine is warmer at the top when True Tone or night shift is active

In these photos I’d probably still prefer the right

Just looks like a nicer hue to my eyes

My 17PM GVC panel looks quite uniform when I’m looking at it perfectly straight on. But even the slightest tilt and the screen starts to behave like that Samsung G9Q — and maybe most of the time even worse. I have to admit, it’s really difficult in reality to hold it exactly at the right angle all the time. That said, most of the time the display appears to be non uniform, even though it’s truly perfect when viewed exactly on-axis.

So yeah, it seems like my G9Q panel is tolerable — not perfect, but definitely not bad either.

I could play the panel lottery — maybe I’d get a slightly better one right away, or maybe I’d end up with something worse.

No real point in chasing a G9N, since it looks like those have the same issues anyway.

Also, neither my wife nor my sister could see any problems on my screen at all, which probably means there’s nothing truly noticeable or critical going on.

By the way, the photo was taken with a professional camera and properly calibrated settings, so it accurately shows how the screen actually looks in real life.

I had a 17Pro for about a week (wanted to try out a smaller phone again) with a G9N: it was just like this one as well. They’re all practically the same to various degrees. Even if you end up getting a somewhat better panel where this red tint is not as intense at the bottom, chances are that either side in portrait will have uneven tinting/brightness.
