Maybe

I had the 3G and I have the 3GS, and I've been waiting for tethering that was promised and never came, and it seems it won't. I am thinking of buying the HTC EVO 4g, just because of the Hotspot, for my iPad would be awesome, and the nice kick stand, and large screen, and of course Android is getting better as days pass.
Like I said ATT lied to us all, and I feel really of this, that's the reason it would hurt me to leave AT&T for any carrier at this time, they lied to us.
unless We get confirmation of wifi tether I will not get the new Iphone.
What you guys think?

if it is worth it I will get it. Money is no problem but common sense prevails.

much better screen, camera, slight smaller and better battery are a must and I will get it

I bought the first iPhone and the 3G, skipped the 3GS and been planning to upgrade this summer for a while now. However the tethering/hotspot situation with AT&T has me peeved.
If I cannot get a reasonable tethering plan for the iPhone I will be switching to a carrier and a phone combo from a competitor, most likely sprint/evo.
Things will change this summer one way or another:

-AT&T will offer iPhone tethering
-Apple will release iPhone on a carrier that does
or
-I will give my business to the companies that give me the solution I want.

Really fed up with AT&T milking the iPhone. They are going to be hurting apple if the situation doesn't change with the next iPhone release.

Apple will sell more devices when we are not forced to buy a data plan for each one of them.

Also if I end up leaving the iPhone over the tethering situation I will also not be buying from iTunes.

For the first time apple has a lot to lose. I like to thing they are smart enough to provide the solution a lot of us want.

Tethering/phone as a hotspot is a huge deal and we can get it elsewhere with comparable hardware like never before this year.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

My wife will buy one she's on a 3G and depending on the features/price I may or may not purchase one

If the resolution really is increased as the rumors say, I will probably sell my 3GS (hoping for at least $300!) and buy the new one, without the contract.

I have a BlackBerry Tour now, after getting rid of my 3GS because I was bored with the iPhone UI. But now, I realize nothing will ever beat the iPhone. Once the new one comes out, I will get it. I like to upgrade every time a new one comes out. The only time I maybe wouldn't upgrade is if the changes were so miniscule, and the price of the new one was so expensive that made it not worth the upgrade. But I always like to have the newest stuff.

If there's a significant difference between the new iphone and the 3GS then I'll upgrade from my 3G. As soon as I can get one used or get one from Hong Kong, then I'll buy it.

I will buy it on launch day just how I've have done it every year. I bought every iphone on launch date .....I will continue to do so every year........I love the phone!

Well, now that it is official, we know what it is and it has on it, etc., I am going to get one. Hands down. Unbelievable upgrade from my current 3G.
