Except if you believe the rumors that Mac Pro's are getting custom CPU's

Well, even that doesn't make too much sense. A custom CPU would still most likely be based on existing architectures (i.e. Westmere or Sandy Bridge) so nothing special. A higher clocked Westmere part would be my guess if I had to make one. Given that Mac Pro doesn't exactly sell like hot cakes, it makes no sense to develop a new architecture just for Mac Pro, considering that developing an architecture costs hundreds of millions.

IMO those custom CPU rumors were hoax anyway. The source of them was a site that has never published any of their own info, they simply re-post news published by AppleInsider, MacRumors and so on.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

My heart nearly stopped when I saw part numbers were mistaken. I thought no MacBook air for a other several weeks!!

Thanks for the info.

@Arnold: No offense mate, but this isn't twitter. You could have made the title a bit more professional.

It does sound a bit awkward indeed. However, I find the habit of Capitalizing Every New Word In A Single Sentence Much More Annoying. Seriously, what's up with that?

Anyway, back on topic, let's hope the Mac Pros won't be forgotten about.

Excellent news about the Mac Mini considering I am planning on getting one in August.

As for Mac Pro, there are no processors yet, but there was a recent rumor that suggested Apple is working with Intel on a custom CPU for the new redesigned Mac Pro.

I still believe a redesigned Mac Pro (rack mountable, smaller design, slightly lower price point) and updated Cinema Display (Thunderbolt and Facetime HD Camera) are coming by the end of August.

Me too. I'm fixated on Macrumors at the moment. C'mon cheeky covert box picture leak!

I miss the white/black macbook days. :)

Still running my original CD Black MacBook, mind you it has come to end of the line (or should I say Lion!) now.

The extra money spent of the black was a great investment, it looks as good as it did all those years ago!

on the one hand, I'm happy to see the mini back in the frame. On the other hand, not so happy to see it alongside model numbers for the macbook. Does that make it more likely that the mini specs will align with the macbook rather than the MBP?

white macbook, mac mini and 13 mbp have had same specs seen some years so the mini and the macbook would likely be just like the low end mbp in terms of hardware. it's more interesting to me that there'r two minis and one server version, so it would be interesting if apple would come up with a more powerful mini

I disagree. For one the title says exactly what the topic is about. It's full of info and not just page hit grabbing. So this time he did a good job with the title.

I agree with Hellhammer about the Mac Pros .... but am I the only one shocked that Apple is still hanging on to the white macbook? Considering they can just nix it with the Airs ... Unless they give the white macbooks the specs of the Air (ie: Higher resolution screen ) I wouldn't get to excited.

The mini should be interesting. Apple in the past, hasn't made it a powerful machine, compared to the other desktops. Apple should shoe-horn 16GB ram option and an option for dual 512 SSD's in the server model.

my gf asked me why men buy the mb pro, she thinks the white mb is much cuter..

No, I find it hard to believe as well. But I read somwhere that it is still very popular and sells well, although -for the life of me- I can't figure out why.

And like the post above, my fiancee likes the white one much better...

To be fair, it's a 15% price increase to the entry-level unibody. 999€ vs. 1149€.

Also, in absolute terms 150€ is still a fair bit of money.

Hope to see a much improved Mini, I've wanted one for ages but just cannot stomach the thought of laying down all that cash for a C2D.

In contrast, I was happy to buy a maxed 11" MBA with a c2d as that's enough for the purposes I use that machine for - browsing, video etc on the go.

Pic!

We (gf and I) use a BlackBook, a unibody MacBook, a 11" MBA and a 20" iMac daily and an ATV2 daily.

We've come to the conclusion that the BlackBook and ATV2 look the best, by far. Even though she just bought the MBA, she refused to give up on the BlackBook :D

Until it dies, she says.

Quite new to Mac but have always loved the Blackbook. I've never seen one in real life I feel deprived having to rely on pictures!

This saddens me. I was poised to grab the new Mac Pro on Thursday.

I've got the original Mac Pro (2x dual-core Xeon, Core2Duo tech) and it's feeling sluggish in more and more instances these days. It is five years old, after all.

So there are no viable Sandy Bridge CPUs to fit the config? The current pro is, I believe, 1x quad, 2x quad, 2x six-core. We've got quad SB i7's now, right? They're used in the iMac, etc. if I'm not mistaken. So no six-core, is that where we are?
