I have had new 15" for less than 24 hours. The keyboard is...odd?

I am trying to type lighter to speed it up and make it quieter but it has quite a bit more of a "Thunk" than the well known and certainly more quiet "Clickty-click" of my previous machines.

I hope it can become quieter with a combo of the above...

You did not find it odd before purchase?

I live 220 miles away from any Apple store deep in the heart of the high Rockies, I had to "trust" I would get used to it since I avoid big nasty cities.
It will be fine but I have to say, I just put my 15" to sleep for awhile to calibrate the battery so I am now typing on my rMBP 13" and wow...what a difference in ease and tone, LOL!!

This is going to be an adjustment, thankfully it is mostly for use in my photography biz...

It sure will be an adjustment. But to me, it works fine on the new keyboard as well as the old.

Agree; Apple has become both greedy and cheap in more recent years, totally turns me off. Just seems to me Apple is looking to "lock in" & "milk" it's customers to the max these days.
Q-6

I wonder which company is so fair in treating customers and not milking them out of money. Queen6 - do you care to elaborate with examples?

In my humble opinion, Apple just bests others in making money - is it bad? It is surely a wet dream of every CEO to tie customers and build value.

When I look at those ever repeating comments, I think they are on a verge of communist/socialists views. From a far perspective (removing subjects and leaving only cause), it is actually capitalists vs people. People are afraid that they will not be able to afford so demanded goods, and they will be excluded - so they demand equality. Looking from a historical point of view, it is a dead end though.

BTW: This thread supposed to be about a keyboard...

Plenty of companies include adapters, even small docks in the box with USB C only system, even bought one myself very recently with the same included. Am fairly confident you can find that out for yourself, if it's of such great interest. I'm not against Apple making profit, equally forcing additional cost simply smacks of greed. I get that all don't need dongles & extensions, equally Apple should allow it's customers to redeem as required, not force additional sales, is what it is a "cheap" move.

Politics, take it somewhere else, simple...

If your so concerned about forum etiquette, why are you even responding, or try reading further back..

Q-6

Would it be "socialist" to include a single USB-C to USB-A adapter in the MBP box so their own users could actually connect their new iPhones to the new MacBook Pro's?

Apple all over now, inconsistent across all products lines almost funny. Add that Tim's a big socialist, well maybe not so much when it comes to the $$$$ :)

turbineseaplane and Q-6: It seems you are not getting my point.

TL;DR
If you don't like how Apple is treating you stop buying and "boycott" this capitalist and money-making, bad company that is denying you piece of USB adapter in the box. Get out of this vicious cycle - run free, run free :)

But before - do please stop moaning/complaining in unrelated threads x1000 times how expensive Apple is - because it is -- so is Mercedes, BMW, Aston Martin.. For every freaking extra or cupholder, you have to pay. Do you hear owners moaning about it?

Apple's not expensive, as to whether it represents good value is entirely another matter. Aston Martin not quite the same league methinks...

Mac's aren't luxury item's there just premium mass produced notebooks, nor do they impress the grownups. What does impress is what you can deliver with your hardware and choice of OS, thats when you can purchase your BMW's, Mercedes etc. straight up...

That's exactly what I think and meant in this and other previous threads in similar subject. I earn money with this reliable tool and don't care about anything else. I do find it entertaining to discuss at this forum from time to time.
Thanks for sharing!

So what's the consensus on the new keyboard?

Well my 2017 MBP 13" was short lived but I will say the keyboard is a bit jarring at first. If you are a pecker/hard typist like myself fatigue will be an issue with the super short travel keys. I did have issues on mostly the left side of the keyboard where the keys would be extra clicky sounding or would get stuck. I would need to blow compressed air to free them. Personally the butterfly switches are so hit or miss, you either hate them or love them. I guess for me it was I tolerated them
