It's really nothing special. It's a ****ing cashback card like basically everyone has in their wallet. From a bank (here Goldman), like everyone else has (Citi, Chase...). With an app (like ... yea... all of the banks)
You have a card that gives cash back the same day, without having to do anything. And that same card has no late fees, overdraft fees, or cash advance fees? And that card has no printed card numbers on it so that if it's stolen or lost it can't be used? It's nothing like the card currently in anyones wallet.

Think about all the family/friends of Apple employees that ask them to use their discount. Think about the employee putting all of those purchases on the Apple Card, getting instant cash back and having their friend/family just transfer them the cash.

Now does the Apple Card seem worth it for Apple employees?

Idk why some of you love to find ways to hate on LITERALLY everything Lol it’s nuts. Let people enjoy things.

Sommer is here, just as the card should be. I hope Apple doesn’t wait for the last day of summer to launch!

Well those interest rates are not all that great?

So, employees are taking a hard hit / pull to test Apple’s CC ! lol
I would hope so its their choice and its applying for credit so it better be a hard hit.

Jony is going to have to make that card thinner. Does he have any staff left to help him with this epic challenge?
Jony DID achieve ultimate thinness with a card ONE MOLECULE thin.

But then everyone trying to pick it up got their fingers chopped off.

Also.. iFixit should give it at least a 2. If it’s “titanium” I bet it’s good at opening things. Not Apple things, but we can’t have everything.

If anyone can name a card that beats this card’s incentive, please state the card and the incentive structure and how it beats the Apple Card. I look forward to evidence backing up people’s ridiculous anti-Apple sentiment.

Hopefully someone will run this through Cardpeek so we can take a look at the CVM list to see if it offers Primary PIN transactions vs signature. Now that would actually be something interesting to have in the US where so few banks offer PIN primary cards.

Between Apple Card and Apple Cash, I’d probably replace my every day checking account.

I receive most of my income through client payments via Square. From the looks of it, Apple Card is considered a financial institution through its backing by Goldman Sacks, so Square should be able to transfer to Apple Card which in turn can transfer to Apple Cash.

Other than cheque deposits, an Apple Card/Cash user can go without a checking account at all. The limit on the balance you can carry in Apple Cash is $50K which is more than enough for most people. Anything above that should be going into savings and investments.

The next step would be for Apple to introduce a CashKit API that would allow financial institutions to build apps where you can easily transfer money into savings and investments from your Apple Cash account. Apple can really get rid of the difficulty and outdated way we deal with banks and money in general.

Come to think it, it's the one Apple product he can't make thinner. Credit cards have to be a standard thickness to work in the stripe readers. :)

It's a novelty item right now. It's titanium, it's got an Apple logo. Right now I don't have a credit card (debit and Amex only) because my bank, "in order to serve you better" cancelled it because I never used it. So I'm gonna get one. What the heck. Better cash back than my debit card.

I already get 3% rewards on Apple purchases with my Barclays Apple Rewards card and 2% on food and travel with my Chase Sapphire card. Without factoring in the revolving rewards of my Discover card and AMEX cards, that leaves 6% of my purchases that I could theoretically receive an extra percent in rewards. By the time you consider a merchant having to accept Apple Pay to receive that extra reward percent, I'm not sure that it leaves any incentive for the trouble of opening a new account for me.

The Sooner the better, we don't want another 5 years Global Roll out like Apple Pay.

Edit: Thinking about it, Only North America, Australia, Japan really uses Credit Card en masse. Europe is much more on Debit Card, China uses WeChat / Alipay for everything.
Here in the UK, the value of debit card transactions is more than double that of credit cards. The latter is increasing at a higher rate, perhaps because consumers realise the many advantages of using a credit card, such as cashback and the Consumer Credit Directive.

right, my citibank app is just like it. except not at all.
Banks hear in au blocked Apple Pay for 5y just cause Apple wanted a small % of there ridiculous profits. So I am not holding me breath on how long it takes to get the credit card hear. I wonder if it works in the after life?

Awesome "dedicated Apple Card guide." Nothing but internal links to other MR articles, and no link to where one can actually sign up or get more info from Apple.

There is no credit card in au can better it. If some one know one let me know !

The Jony/Apple/thin device jokes were sort of funny the first 10 times we heard them, but not so much now that we are going on 10 million rehashed versions of the same tired old joke.

A particular card's incentives are better suited to some people than others. There's no card that's perfect for everyone.
