The card is a status symbol but that crap went out with the first Dynasty show in the 80's. Apple is now a parody of itself.

The rewards on this card are very mediocre. They could have made this extremely competitive with better rewards rates but the banks were worried about making any money on this card. That said, I am interested in the Apple card for security purposes alone. The fact that is it has no hard number (on the card) and hopefully generates a unique one time number for purchases online is very attractive to me.

I have a citi card that gets me 2% cash back on every purchase, regardless of whether I do it through Apple Pay or not. The Apple Wallet features look nice, but aside from that, can't see a really compelling reason to switch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This card really is not that special in my opinion. The 1% back on most purchases is so-so at best. I get much better cash-back percentages on other cards. The 3% on Apple purchases is okay, but that’s about it.

I agree, supergt. The rewards are indeed very mediocre at best. Apple could have really hit this out of the park had they made the rewards at least competitive, but sadly it isn’t even close in that category.

Think about all the family/friends of Apple employees that ask them to use their discount. Think about the employee putting all of those purchases on the Apple Card, getting instant cash back and having their friend/family just transfer them the cash.

Now does the Apple Card seem worth it for Apple employees?

Idk why some of you love to find ways to hate on LITERALLY everything Lol it’s nuts. Let people enjoy things.

Not hating, but it makes zero financial getting this ( esp if you’re on lower end of the income curve, which (generally) most retail workers are ..) Are Apple employees getting an additional discount/benefit buying apple products over what they normally get (using ANY other CC with cashback, rewards, miles, free extended warranty, price protection, theft protection etc etc ) ?

Also, as stated above, there’s numerous CC with cashback ( and more ) benefits, so the Apple employee buying Apple products for friends/family with discounts, will benefit the same.

I suppose my idea of enjoying doesn’t involve taking hard hit to flaunt just another CC with a fruit logo on it, and use my credit for when it begets meaningful (to me) and substantiated returns.

If anyone can name a card that beats this card’s incentive, please state the card and the incentive structure and how it beats the Apple Card. I look forward to evidence backing up people’s ridiculous anti-Apple sentiment.

Really ? For starters, one of my Amex Rewards cards offers 3% cashback on ALL ( no exceptions, $5000 cap, $99 annual fee that easily pays itself ) purchases. In addition to that, I get extended warranties, price and theft protection, and no fee foreign transactions ( if applicable, but a benefit nonetheless )

I won’t even go into the awesome benefits afforded with their Titanium Platinum Card ( albeit with a $450 annual fee, with benefits that supersede the annual service charge for me )

A lot of negativity in the forum...I bet Apple will have the last laugh on this service - I am sure this will pop up right on the Wallet card with a 1 click apply now button and they will bring in millions of users in a few weeks.

So, employees are taking a hard hit / pull to test Apple’s CC ! lol
A single hard inquiry is no big deal. Often no hit at all to your FICO, and if you do lose a few points it’s only temporary. If you’re currently carrying a balance, a new credit line can actually improve your scores since it lowers your overall utilization.

Someone in another thread reported a $5,000 limit with a 700 score; not sure which scoring model, or what the interest rate was though.

1. Hard pull is a temporary hit.

2. Apple doesn't require employees to beta test anything. It is voluntary, so any employee who is planning something like purchasing a house would not likely take part in this test.

You have a card that gives cash back the same day, without having to do anything. And that same card has no late fees, overdraft fees, or cash advance fees? And that card has no printed card numbers on it so that if it's stolen or lost it can't be used? It's nothing like the card currently in anyones wallet.

It can be used if it is stolen. Still has a chip and a mag stripe, so any physical use will still work until the card is reported lost/stolen or GS' fraud prevention algorithms kick in.

Depends what you mean by “1 click apply now”. You’ll still need to give a social security number, income, and have to answer the three or four credit report related questions proving your identity. Not exactly what I’d call “1 click.”

Your credit limit would be heavily influenced by your (stated) income as well.

The big showstopper for me is that the card can only be for one person. My wife and I share credit cards, it is just simpler that way. I can't imagine either of us wanting this card until they can offer it in a version where there can be a second card holder.

Bro... Come on...

It makes zero financial sense? Do you know that in NYC, Apple Retail employee’s usually start between $18-$21/hour? Apple pays higher than most other retailers.

You do know that it’s ok to have multiple credit cards right? People have 3-5 credit cards that all serve different purposes.

If an employee buys 3 computers for friends/fam at $1K a pop, that’s $90 INSTANT cash back loaded DIRECTLY onto the Apple Pay Cash card which can be INSTANTLY used. It’s not points. It’s not miles. It doesn’t have to be redeemed through a special portal. It’s INSTANT cash.

I just really don’t get your argument. Opening an Apple Card isn’t going to severely mess up someone’s credit. Could it? Of course if you’re irresponsible, but so can ANY credit card.

There ARE several benefits to having this card aside from the “cool factor”. Just deal with it Lol. Actually, just leave these articles alone and don’t sign up for the card. It’s sooo simple.

Yes yes yes!!!! :D:eek: It’s mind blowing the amount of hate on an Apple forum

It literally blows my mind how miserable people on these forums are.

“Why buy a Mac Pro when you can build your own PC?”

“Why buy AirPods when there are Chinese knockoffs on Canal Street?”

Let people enjoy what they want! Holy jeez.

True, but only at a physical store, which happens, but is much less likely, especially since most places require a PIN now (but not enough places)

All of the above, and don’t forget 2% cash back on Apple Pay purchased, 1% on all others, and no annual fee, no late charges, no overlimit fee, no foreign transaction fees and no penalty interest rate for missing a payment. Also, privacy, security (virtual card/CVV numbers, which can be regenerated on demand) and lower than average interest rates, for those who carry a balance.

I’m interested to see if the standard Mastercard perks are offered, such as extended warranty, price protection, etc.

Sure, if you’re a points hacker there are better cash back opportunities, but unless you run a lot of charges through your account and never carry a balance, the Apple Card is certainly competitive, while offering some unique advantages.
