I guess I should do the 'shame!' walk. :(

I think that’s the least you could do. And thank you for acknowledging Zeta’s truth (or my own interpretation of Z’s truth, which I believe is just as good, and that is my truth...so, thank you for acknowledging my truth, I guess).

Gloater here. Just wanted to say how great it is to have been one of the skillful pre order veterans who secured a launch day phone for the 5th year in a row. No luck here, all skill.
[doublepost=1568751227][/doublepost]Also I would find it hilarious if we later find out that OPs order got bumped up and they got it launch day.

Lol what a troll. Fwiw, I've been able to secure launch day phones for me and my wife every year they allowed online pre-orders. I had no problem doing pickup, but couldn't get my wife a 9/20 delivery date. Even a pre-order veteran couldn't anticipate having to manually enter your credit card when pre-approved for IUP and cards entered in apple pay. Definitely some weird things occurred this time.

I mean he contacted Apple and wanted compensation for a week wait on a phone that hasn’t even got a tracking number yet.

I get he’s likely lying, but just the possibility that it’s true blows my mind.

Well, I think I should get a free leather phone case because Apple changed the outer dimensions of the iPhone 11 PRO, while only providing just enough improvements over my iPhone X to convince me that I must have the newest model. It’s a dirty, tricky scheme, and I demand compensation.

EDIT - Oh and Apple is making me wait a full week following the announcement of the new iPhones before they will sell it to me, which is an intentional infliction of emotional distress. So, I would also like a free screen protector, so that nothing beyond my emotional health gets damaged.

Well, my phone and my cousin's phone were canceled for whatever reason and contacting Apple was futile as they would not be able to restore the order with the original 9/20 pick-up date.

So now we're headed to the Apple store 5:30am this Friday to hopefully get the midnight green pro max. Thankfully, the mall is just 5 mins away from my work.

My new iPhone Pro is scheduled to be delivered on the 20th of September. Still hope to be the first among the Youtubers to do some drop tests. My subscription numbers have been stagnating most lately :/

Make sure it’s a Pro Max 512 in Space Grey.

The OP will truly appreciate that one last touch

Yep, I was preapproved and thought I was ahead of the game. Got my order in a few minutes after 8 est and got a Sept 27 date, the first time ever missing launch day. I am not really that bummed since I am getting a watch that day. It just spreads the joy out a little bit, that’s all.

I don’t understand why they can’t have enough supply available so anyone who wants one can get it on launch. Is it seriously that they can’t physically produce them fast enough, or is this in some way related to Apple controlling stock at launch to boost demand?

Imagine pre selling tens of thousands of anything that goes on sale at the same time globally let alone three different products in multiple configurations. Apple do manufacturing and release pretty well I'd say.

It's not like if they produce 50 million units they will have to sit on some of them. It just seems kind of hard to believe that in 2019 you still have to get lucky to get a phone on launch day.

A real vet would always be prepared for manual credit card entry. It is called a contingency plan and being prepared.

Don’t most trade-ins require you to send old phone back within 30 days after receiving new phone? How can they force you to send in your old phone before receiving new one? You would be forced to have no phone for a period of time. You should double check.

I guess trade in wasn't the correct term. I locked in a price with Gazelle a couple of weeks ago.

It doesn't mean you're screwed over. You get it when you get it. I was right there first thing to order as well and my date is a week later. Just the way it goes for whatever reason. Just because you order within minutes doesn't guarantee launch day. There are more important things in life to worry about.

When you place an order and receive a confirmation for a launch day delivery, but it ends up getting moved to 10/9 because they don't know how to process Apple Pay correctly, I'd call that getting screwed over.

Still hoping it gets taken care, but looking doubtful.

I got sick of those threads full of gloaters who are getting 9/20 deliveries. When I made comments I got accused of spoiling the vibe for them. Awww, too bad you lucky SOBs. So here’s one for the rest of us.

I ordered a space grey Max Pro 512 as soon as the store opened and was appalled to see that the delivery dates were already at least a week delayed. (9/27-10/1) That indicates to me that the 512 models were never available right from the start. It would have been nice if I had known there were production delays on that model or color. I could have picked a different color in that case.
I didn’t get a launch-day iPhone X because of server overload and couldn’t get into the Apple Store until five minutes after they went up for grabs, so the dates were pushed back. Didn’t complain - just reserved one for the next day (Saturday) and drove 5 hours to Bakersfield, CA to get it. Worth it.

Never will understand these threads. How did you get screwed over? Apple didn’t guarantee your pre-order would have a 9/20 delivery? There is nothing that Apple said about pre-ordering and getting 9/20 delivery date.

Beyond comical.

For me, I’m not complaining because I placed a order and couldn’t get a launch day delivery. That would be fine and understandable.

I feel I got screwed because I did get a launch day delivery that is now pushed back to 10/9. Apparently Verizon does not know how to process Apple Pay. I will stick with Apple next year.

This young lady is my fiance, and believe me, you haven't seen tenacity until you've met her. :p

What’s your channel? I’ll give it a go.

Manpower and logistics. It's not like Apple has three factories making just iphones for 6 months ahead of a new model. I work in the soft toy industry and from you placing your order it takes 6 months to make and ship from China due to the continues cycle of manufacturing.

My guess is that they do have the inventory, it’s a matter of shipping logistics to get them where they need to be so no one across the world is delayed very much.

Getting a launch day iPhone is not what I’d call getting lucky, lol.
