Threads Begins Adding Reposts to Its 'Following' Feed

I think they have a good shot at supplanting Twitter still. Twitter just lost their big advantage by dropping the bird. Unless Elon brings back Twitter branding now before companies start removing twitter from their packaging, Twitter is dead. Twitter's advantage is it was entrenched in places that it is hard to get entrenched.
As companies start removing the twitter icon from their websites and packaging, I really don't see them putting the "X" logo up in its place. With Elon changing things on a whim, nobody will want to put that on product packaging. Companies will start looking for alternative networks and I think the Fediverse will win out. Threads will be the main gateway for normies in to the Fediverse. As soon as Meta adds the promised Fediverse integration, I think it might seal the deal that there will be a long-term stable network as an alternative to the social network formerly known as Twitter. Even though it introduces competition, I think Meta probably prefers to be part of the Metaverse and try to add value to that. It lets them completely avoid a whole host of issues with content moderation and regulation that Twitter needs to deal with. They might need to deal with a few other big players that make the Fediverse easy for their users, but it is probably a win for them overall. Especially since they can tie in to their other social networks.
Instagram also looks to benefit massively.

Threads uses Instagram account data so it doesn't comply with EU laws. It's not the app itself, it's the data sharing between Threads and Instagram that makes it impossible for Threads to enter here for now unless they change that specifically for the EU App Store.
Meta really doesn't want you to access from the EU, some VPN users on mobile have been kicked out of the app, they seem to use multiple ways to detect if you're accessing from the EU. In a web version it'll be easier to access it.
I trust them both of them equally, which means not at all. Instagram I do enjoy, though as it's the best way I've found to share my photography and adventures with friends. I don't care about or follow anyone other than people I personally know.
Threads is useless and Twitter (X) is useless, if you don't use social media for news and celebrities/influencers.
I don’t think that multiple apps sharing account data is the issue here, because many apps do. For example, the Audible and Amazon apps share account data. Also the YouTube and the YouTube Music apps do.
In any case, Meta certainly has a plan for how to make Threads work in Europe, they merely don’t want to spend the resources for implementing it just yet.
I honestly don’t care, I hope they both shutdown and take TikTok down with them. We reached a point in which it’s important news that a piece of s- website becomes competitor to another piece of s- website.

No, it would not be great. For all the complaints about Musk, Zuckerberg is 10 times worse. Hard pass.
Threads died long before that. Poor idea, poorly executed, and because it is Facebook, they handle and sell user data liberally like Facebook always has. The Orwellian “moderation” didn’t help.
It appears your opinion is based on being personally annoyed rather than specifics. What reasons would you like to see TikTok go bankrupt, for example?
Oh yes, I am very annoyed by it. Check my past posts on this forum. It’s a waste of time, and it has lots of mentally challenged videos, it damages focus and concentration, let alone the various security issues. I am happy that both of my kids decided to get rid of the app once they started noticing how it was affecting them.
As for its design? It’s just perfect.
At first I though that was the case... I won't be posting anything on threads, so at least I'm glad I deleted the app
As of August 7th, usage min per day went from 14 minutes a day per users in its initial launch to 3 minutes a day. For perspective, Twitter gets about 24 minutes a day today per user.
Agreed, except I wouldn't even hesitate.
But that's what I read on the press. The law is complex and specifically targets some business models, so not every company fall under this law.
Amazon / Audible, YouTube / YouTube Music don't share the same business model, that must be why they don't have any problem with these apps.
Threads, a social network where you can be alone with your thoughts.
