He has been less censorious than the previous owners in some areas, and more censorious in others. He does censor "elon haters" by putting them lower in replies to popular posts. Do you think prioritizing posts of Elon sycophants is a good idea when your goal is the free exchange of ideas?
This is false. At least for me Twitter shows plenty of negative Elon and tesla tweets. It’s all about level of engagement. There’s no censoring on Twitter, as long as they follow laws in that country. Please put up an example that says otherwise.

"subscribe to unfollowed users" Maybe I'm missing something but like - why would you do this?

Because whoever wrote this doesn't speak english well. It should read "subscribe to non-followed users".

I don't use Threads but as a previous Twitter user, this feature makes sense. It's for subscribing to users you don't want to follow but want to read their posts; as opposed to how it's worded which makes it sound that you can only subscribe to users you specifically unfollowed.

I'm on NONE of these social media services. I ran away from Facebook over 2 years ago like my hair was on fire. The political BS just got to be too much for me. Everything was politics. I could post a picture of my cat, and it was like HERR DE DURR that cat is a (insert political label here).

First rule of friendship. I don't talk politics, sex, or money with friends I don't absolutely agree with. It's not that it would make a difference to me. I know a lot of my friends have differing viewpoints on all these things and IDGA crap. I just want to have friends to show cat pictures and family photos and stuff like that with. You just can't do any of that anymore on social media without wading into the cess pool. So it's a HARD PASS on all social media. Everyone on there was fake. No one posts about how hard their life is, or things suck for me right now. It's always "look at my new boat", etc.

That includes Twitter, Threads, FB, Insta, Meta, Tik Tok, or whatever is out there.

If I want to communicate with strangers, I'll break out my Ham Radio gear and talk to someone in Europe or South America.

BTW, discussion of political issues is verboten on Ham Radio, so that just makes it all the better.

still garbage. no way to see only people you follow. trash
I used it for all but 10 minutes, but when I saw hundreds of posts that weren't the 10 people I followed, but was instead Demi Levato, The Kardashians, and other celebs I don't have a care in the world for, I promptly deleted it. No thank you.

lol people saying Threads will die quickly... there are so many crossposts now from all of the "influencers" that signed up early, so it's not going anywhere anytime soon. I honestly thought it was stupid when it launched and that people wouldn't sign up for another Zuck product, but was clearly wrong. They need as much exposure as possible, so it makes sense they all signed up in droves.

I said that it would be a great time for a Twitter replacement after the acquisition, but I didn't think Zuck would do it and so many people would flock to it.

It shows posts of people who support him before posts of people who don’t like him.
It would be like if a political forum prioritized posts of donors to one of the candidates. So although it may not be a complete removal of posts critical of him, it does have a big influence on discussions.

He banned the ElonJet account, which was doing nothing illegal according to the laws of the U.S.

Uh huh. Now it’s not the point

The point has always been from the beginning about rooting for XYZ person to fail because of their politics/views and there are plenty inside Apple HQ that have worse views than Elon. Engineers' views of Elon has nothing to do with it.

Do you understand now?
