I don't think this could possibly be realistically true. It's probably only technically true because of Threads forceful integration into Instagram.

Since you're asking for anecdotal evidence (as opposed to actual data, which this thread is based on), yes.
Of the major social media platforms, X is the one people may have a problem with "publicly admitting" they're on, for some obvious reasons.

In terms of short form social networks, "my data" is the least of the problems they present.
We all need to stay away from these US platforms. Especially if you’re European or not US American.
US services are a security threat these days and there are good alternatives available like Matodon for X/Threads/BlueSky, Pixelfed for Instagram and etc.

Zuckerberg has had whatever data I choose to put on a social network (which like everyone I know, is really not a significant amount of my life) since 2008 and guess what - nothing negative has happened. In fact i'd say Instagram ads are vaguely useful sometimes. I never see ads on Facebook, Threads or Meta Quest so.

I'm surprised to be honest.
Just judging by how many begs I see on Instagram, breathlessly trying to get me to click through to Threads.
'Hey Calaveras! Your friends Foo and Widget are already on Threads! Why not check it out!'
OTOH everyone I know has bailed on Twitter since it was taken over by some South African raver.

threads is by dar the worse "social media" platform. its pretty much an algorithm on steroids to flood you with rage bait, porn and spam
Musk will now sue Apple & Google for even allowing Threads in their App stores and not prioritizing X instead.

I don't trust Meta with respect to morality or competency. I wouldn't jump on board with anything they're trying to put out there.
This article is about "mobile" users. Would bots be included in that stat? Bots aren't running on iOS.
