You are confusing a rather selfish and solipsistic sense of independence, which only affects you, with the freedom to make more of our own laws on a national level, now and long into the future.
Only affects me? Lies! It affects millions. I'm part of these millions.

And these "laws" made things worse so far.

Disgusting how you change my quotation. How can anyone bear to engage with you?

Conservatives were the biggest party under our constitution and therefore laid claim to form a government, under scrutiny of Parliament co-led by an official Opposition. Stop slicing and dicing numbers to suit your argument. All electoral systems have pros and cons.
I amended your quotation to highlight the unsaid element of your argument. I made it obvious using caps and bold. Everyone on the internet understands how this works, including you. Stop being so precious.

All electoral systems do indeed have pros and cons. However it’s important to point out the inconsistency and hypocrisy of people banging on for years about winning our independence from people we didn’t vote for making our laws, only to now be more than happy to have a government that most us didn’t vote for making our laws.

Brexit was never really about who was making the choices, it was about what choices they were making and who they benefited. The choices are most certainly not being made for our benefit now.

It very much is. They complain at the same time as being massively in denial.
There was a Brexiteer that lived in Spain a while back on the radio, (LBC). He voted for Brexit because England had too many foreigners.
He lived in Spain. In Spain................
Ah but he's an expat and that's something completely different to an immigrant. /s

Nope. I'm a Brexiteer. I'm quite insanely happy about leaving the EU and not having an Empire draining our resources.
I though you weren’t engaging? Can’t keep your word it seems… wait, are you Boris Johnson? That’s what he’s known for. Couldn’t even let the ink dry on the withdrawal agreement before he wanted to make changes. Best deal to horrible per his government, and all in less than a year. Not being able to keep its word for even a year hasn’t really endeared Britain to the other nations it wants to sign new trade agreements with. How do they know it won’t be just another agreement Johnson and the tories flout?🙄😂

I guess I’ll have to do the adult thing and end this. Toodles

This is purely a money grab by UK operators Worse from three as they’re famous for their roam like home packages.

The issue with roaming is that it doesn't cost the Telco's anything to get you on another network in Europe. I believe that most of the companies involved are owned by each other anyway or something like that. The EU rightly said it was an abuse of power and so banned the charges.

With Brexit they are just using the opportunity of no EU oversite to charge us again for no actual reason.
It's interesting that the UK govt has not looked to create a law that stops them from doing this again.
It's literally like charging money for tap water.
Same thing happened with Mulimedia messaging etc.. all of it is overcharging for things because they can get away with it. Ridiculous really.

Exactly this. It's the biggest facepalm in modern history.

Telecoms companies weren't exactly struggling to make ends meet before Brexit. You're applauding unnecessary costs being enforced on consumers due to corporate greed. I'm sure billionaire CEO's the world over are grateful for your ongoing support.
Where in my post does it say I'm appluading what the telecomms companies are doing?? do not try to twist my words to suit your narrative.

When the EU pressed forward with removing roaming charges in the EU, the UK telecomms companies where not happy because it removed a profitiable revenue stream from them. Now they are happy again because they can re-introduce roaming charges.

So who hasn't implemented EU roaming tariffs yet? Or did they all just stagger it out after they agreed to it? Something smells when all the mobile operators including ones that have vast EU networks are imposing tariffs.

It’s been fascinating to see vote leave and company shoot their nation in the foot while pretending they were installing bionic legs. Mind boggling, but fascinating.

I mean I don’t think anyone who voted leave for genuine reasons didn’t expect the first few years to be difficult. The only way to judge this will be in 15 or 30 years and judge where the country is then.
it was always pretty clear that early on there were going to be more negatives than positives. Unless you were a dullard that believes any politician tells you the truth on either side of politics.

So the EU was responsible for your wages, responsible for low unemployment benefits, responsible for job creation, reduced your rent, reduced your council tax, responsible for train tickets and bus fares, responsible for the food in supermarkets, gave you the opportunity to go to restaurants, reduced your bills; gas, electric, water, your mortgage, your bank holidays (the UK just happens to have the least), the NHS, Road Tax. None of the EU's concepts need any money exchanging hands from one country to another. Or didn't you know that? 9 EU countries fund the other 18 EU countries, not equally, and no explanation as to why Luxembourg get €6,512 per person but Croatia gets only €96. People living under the poverty line in all 27 EU countries might disagree with you, that the EU has given them a wonderful life. For most it's been a struggle, and only the overpaid civil servants have benefitted from the EU.
Absolute toffee. Where did you get these stats from? "Engaland First", with a big lion head as their logo?
  • The EU allowed me to travel freely. My first real job was in Austria for that matter. No visa paperwork needed. I just moved and registered myself as a resident in the country.
  • I'm not sure what you mean about "low unemployment benefits" as clearly you've never seen a country with truly low benefits if any.
  • They were actually responsible for my job creation. In fact, in several of my jobs, I worked in EU sponsored projects across multiple countries, allowing me to work with lovely people, across many amazing countries.
  • They are responsible for keeping food costs in supermarkets down, or at least provide legislative guidelines to ensure governments do not screw over their own people.
  • It did give me the opportunity to visit many restaurants (actually a relevant point), as I used to travel freely between two countries often for an afternoon.
  • Bank holidays are determined by each country, so I'm not sure what this has to do with anything.
  • Each country has its own health system. All are pretty poor (including the NHS), to some degree, as health systems cost a fortune, but being part of the EU meant I could get treatment anywhere, for free (as part of my tax paid into the EU, and the EHIC agreement meant health systems could bill each other). Now I cannot.
Ultimately, you have also lapped into the propaganda that was strewn across the media in the run up to Brexit. You clearly bought into it, which is sad and your focus is on a small number of individuals (comparatively), in the government.

However, all you are now paying for is Johnson's backhands and all the corruption of your own government. It's just the same pile of 💩, but you are all on your own to deal with it.

No government is infallible. All have their flaws, including the EU, and especially the UK government.

Anyway. I'll finish off by saying that a study showed 78.4% believed an article or comment if it contained a statistic. 😏
