With the C and N series silicon joining the A/M series silicon, completing the holy trinity of in house silicon, Apple is positioned to do stuff no one else can do in the next few years to come.
It'll be a single SoC before long and the advantage will be evident in power usage, size and performance.
Encased entirely in glass.

Great - so then I’ll NEVER get to use it. 😤

I think I'm looking forward to the end of the controversy surrounding a user interface design philosophy.

(… It will end on Monday, right?)

Hoping for ram management as good as iOS 16.7.2 on my 14 pro. When I updated to iOS 18.6 August 1st it felt like it shaved 2-3GB of ram off of my device as apps close in the background waaaaaay to often now. I hope ios26 is better for my 14 pro.

Call screening. Finally don't have to deal with robo calls anymore!
I love this feature and been using it for a couple of weeks now. For some reason there is an 800 number that calls every day and bypasses it. I'm assuming it is just a bug. It has been so nice for filtering all of the rest of the junk calls!

I can tell you what I’m least looking forward to because I’ve been using it: Liquid Glass.

The best iPhone update might be custom snooze lengths in the alarm app, lol. Such a stupid thing to be excited about. FINALLY been waiting since iPhone OS 1.0. Wish I could set longer than 15 minutes, though. I don’t just use that app for sleep and it gets annoying if it goes off to water my trees and I’m across town shopping and I have to snooze it repeatedly!

The coolest thing is that my iPad feels a lot closer to being a lightweight Mac. But things like Safari are running rough on my M1 12.9” iPad Pro. Needs an update.

Also enjoying the widgets in CarPlay. Wish I could scale down the UI in there, so I could fit three widgets. My display is a fairly wide 12.3” in my Telluride, and a solid resolution around 1920px, but I can only put two ginormous widgets, and the option to scale smaller isn’t present like I’ve seen in some videos. Wish I could put widgets next to the map, specifically weather and radar while traveling, but at least they are only a swipe away now.

I was excited for the windowing and menu bar on iPadOS. I downloaded the RC version a few days ago because I was excited, but I’m more disappointed. The menu bar is a good access for menu options, but doesn’t really provide any new functions like I thought it may have. The windowing is pretty cool, but I was hoping for a bit more resolution options for the content. I have good eyes and prefer smaller content to see more on a screen. On that note iPadOS 26 has done the opposite, and the compact views for mail and files are no longer compact when compared to ipados18.

I do love the Liquid Glass, but there isn’t enough of it in my opinion, swiping down the Notification Center is slowly probably the best part. First impressions aren’t great, but I am hopeful that with the ironing out of bugs and user feedback, it does get better.

New favorite feature is probably the calls screening and hold features. I don’t think I will have the opportunity to use or appreciate them as much, but sometimes the best features often go unnoticed.

3 days closer to 26, that means it's also 3 days closer to iOS27 and hopefully removing the Vista "glass" noise they added to muddy visual accessability for no actual beneficial purpose outside catching up with Microsoft styling.

The worst part of glass... on a large screen there is jagged white lines around every screen element making it like like a kindergarten scissor job.

These are the most impactful additions to me:
  • CarPlay: Smart display zoom, message tapbacks, widgets, live activities
  • Lock Screen: Tall clock, widget on the bottom
  • Maps: Preferred routes and significant delays alert, visited places
  • Phone: Call Screening and Hold Assist
  • Photos: Spatial photos, even on regular photos
  • Wallet: Orders tracking from Mail
