Normally I’d wait for 26.1.1 but buying a new watch means I’ll be forced sooner.

I do like the new interface (Liquid Glass). My son is running it on his phone. Looking forward to that.

iOS 26 is coming in just three days, and it brings a new Liquid Glass design with translucent UI elements, rounded menu bars, simplified navigation, pop out menus, and more.

iOS-26-on-iPhone-Feature.jpg

Liquid Glass has been contentious during the beta testing period. Some people don't feel like there's enough translucency, and others think Apple has gone too far, impacting readability. Where do you fall on the spectrum? Let us know in the comments below.

The new design is the big iOS 26 talking point, but the update also has a bunch of new features, both big and small. Are you looking forward to screening your phone calls? Setting a custom snooze duration? Making Genmoji? Using Live Translation?

For a recap on all of the features that are coming next week, make sure to check out our iOS 26 roundup. We also have overviews of iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, both of which have some exciting new additions.

Looking for a complete and full freedom away from iOS18. It’s like moving to a new town and starting fresh.

Call screening, on-hold calling, a general refresh of the UI (such that it is), Car Play updates, Automix, adjustable clock on the Lock Screen, adjustable snooze, the Photos updates, hopefully some more useful Apple Intelligence, and some of the new ringtones .. probably some other things but not a bad little list

I'm happy with iOS 18 and newer doesn't necessarily mean better.
If there’s one thing I have learned over the years and many tech purchases and upgrades, newer is not always better.

I choose to embrace change wherever possible, but after using the betas of liquid glass 26 on my secondary iPhone and secondary MacBook Pro it’s a great disappointment.

Live Translation, if it works, will be a game changer for me. My wife and (of course) her family are from China. She speaks rudimentary English, I speak (barely) rudimentary Mandarin. Her family speaks no English at all. If Live Translation works, I will be able to converse with her family for the first time. My guess is it will be slow, prone to errors and kludgy for the first couple of years, but with Apple now needing to keep up with Google's version, they won't just abandon it in its first or second iteration. If they do, and Google really takes off with this, which they likely will, that will be time for me to consider leaving the Apple Universe. I can foresee in 5 years or less, it being fluid, immediate, no gap in time, and maybe even speaking in your vocal intonations.
Then, you should get yourself a Pixel 10 - no joke. Live on device translation (without cloud) in your own voice

The more I use it the more I find myself smiling during interactions with it. They finally brought fun and whimsy back to, let’s face it, a boring ass OS.

All the devs that think it’s a disaster are 100% biased to the max. The general public is going to absolutely love it, as I do. Best UI change they’ve made since Aqua.
Genuinely interested as to what is fun and whimsy about it? I use my iPad daily and yet to find something “fun and whimsy” as opposed to how it was with iPadOS 18?

I've been using it since the first Dev beta. So not really looking forward to anything. Honestly I've got used to it and would say I'm bored of it. I really don't like the Liquid Glass. Good idea but poorly implemented. Very inconsistent and the added effects put more strain on the phones. I've never had my 15 Pro Max get so hot during normal usage.

Hopefully the 17 Pro Max with faster processor and 4GB extra RAM helps.

Maybe journaling on macos?
I suspect many of the features won't properly work in Europe anways, but we will see I guess.
Journal is getting better with each iteration. Still not as pretty as Day One, Still has a few UI issues such as an Edit Button and poor layout for whole journal listing.

But it’s now an adequate replacement I think.

I'm looking to people endlessly whinging about it.
You no longer need to look forwards to this, it’s already here in this thread.

What a load of miserable devils!

I’ve used it since beta 1. It’s absolutely fine. Some great stuff, in the main the interface just get out of your way in favour of more space for the app.

In all honesty the original goal to achieve the Apple Vision Pro ui which is beautiful has failed in an epic way with Liquid Glass - if any boomers may remember aqua mac os it’s like a rival of that 20 years later
