I had to turn on and off airplane mode to get this to work correctly. Before I did that it was stuck on three wifi calls but now seems to switch depending on low signal. Thanks for passing on this information. I assumed it was meant to use wifi all the time but this makes more sense.

That's correct.

I had a tweet from three about this...

Hey,

You'll only use Wi-Fi Calling when you have low or zero mobile signal, as it's designed to prioritise use of our network. If you have a strong Three signal, you'll find that you rarely connect to Wi-Fi Calling.

We hope this helps :) >IL

I'm still getting 'Three WiFi Call' when I've got a full signal. Once it has switched to WiFi, it seems to stay on until you toggle WiFi off/on (or move out of WiFi range).

One of the reasons I left Three for EE is because they had Wi-Fi calling built in, whereas Three used a crappy app that meant conversations were often disjointed between the app and the messages.app

This is a good step. I still won't switch back to Three though - EE has 4G in far more places, and faster speed too.

Yes, but they're also significantly more expensive and provide significantly less data.

Unfortunately, Three's 4G network is heavily congested where I'm staying now (and throughout London, really), so the speeds are rubbish.

Back in my original town (Barrow-in-Furness) though, 4G speeds were excellent. I was regularly getting at least 30MBps, and occasionally got between 50 and 60MBps (despite 3 saying they limit speeds to 50MBps).

Edit: Whoops, I seem to have ruined the flow of the thread. Oh well.

Oh absolutely. That's why I held off until their Black Friday deal was live, one of the best they have offered IMO. 20GB of double-speed 4G (That's up to 60Mbps, although I have had over 100Mbps so the cap doesn't seem to work) for £20 per month. That means it also comes with a bit of roaming data, unlimited roaming texts & minutes, and 6 months of Apple Music which I was going to use anyway.
