Quicktime Sound Not Working on Apple Site

Ok, ok...granted I'm new to this site and actually new to Macs. I've been giving serious thought to getting a new iMac G5 very soon and was awaiting the Tiger announce, which happened a few days ago.

When I go to the Mac OS X website for Apple that describes Tiger highlights and try to load the Quicktime video, it load ok, but THERE IS NO SOUND when I try to play.

Can anyone help me out with this, or is the site just not working correctly because Apple hasn't either updated it properly, or hasn't checked things out to make sure the site is working properly???

I'm ready to buy a new iMac and jump the fence...I just need a little reassurance that things really work for Apple, and this Quicktime problem puts a lot of stuff in the "NEAGATIVE" column.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Jim

I can barelly wait until late May, when my first Mac is arriving, a 1.42 MacMini. I wondering if Tiger will be preinstalled...

I always have wintel computers, and now, with Mac Mini launched, I'm one more "switcher"... I'm positive that I'm doing the right thing now...

Here in Brazil Mac's are very expensive... one Mini like mine costs R$ 3 400, or US$ 1 300, in todays exchange. So, you can figure out how dificult is for us, brazilians, to buy a Mac... and I'm not mentioning the dificult to buy apps or upgrades... it's a very restrict public...

Just one more month between me and my first Mac...

Huges for all.

Fábio.

hey Fabio

why can't you order it directly from Apple and pay US$ or buy it from an authorized distributor on the internet?

I just purchased a new powerbook on March 30th and I don't qualify for the upgrade price. I drop $2500 on a new comptuer and 30 days later I have (well don't have to) to drop another $120 for the latest OS....kind crappy that they limited the upgrade to April 12th and after.

Thanks...I sure wish they'd fix that...it would make those demos begin to make sense. The way it presently works, I'd bet those demos lose Apple some new customers.

;)

Does anyone here live in the Oregon area near a Mac Store Insider. I'm not sure how I got on their E.Mail list, but just got an intersting message from them. They are announcing the release of Tiger and the party on the 29th.

The most interesting part is below. I'm jealous, wish that I lived in the area.

Free stuffed Tiger when you purchase Tiger, or any new computer
sku# 137412

The Large Tiger is available for $149.95 with any new computer OR with purchase of Tiger (regularly priced at $249.95)

The Party:

I'm not a switcher. And would it matter? As someone else stated, it's understandable that they have a cutoff date, but the one selected seems rather short.

I'm sorry, I wasn't indicating you are a switcher. There was an early post in this thread by someone that went by the name SadSwitcher. I believe this person was reeeeeally upset with the cutoff and thought he was screwed over. I'm not saying you feel as strongly, I was just being sarcastic. No offense, just trying to make light of things :D

is kinda false, ilife does not come as part of the OS but it does come when you buy a new computer (look in apple's website) I got a new PB on february and it came with ilife05 installed, but it's not part of panther or tiger.

i think many people are confused by this since ilife05 comes installed on a new computer already, but i dont think it will come when tiger arrives on a new computer.

"but i dont think it will come when tiger arrives on a new computer"...??? What has changed there then? Why wouldn't iLife be preinstalled along with Tiger on NEW HARDWARE?? (or do you mean something else and I'm going off on a tangent??!!!)

Will it be here first?

I have just pre-ordered Tiger from Apple and the date of delivery is on the 29th. Being in Australia, one would say that on Friday, when I get the delivery - lets say at 2 pm (when the postman comes), it will be late Thursday night in USA. Would I be right in saying that us Aussie's down here will be one of the first to play with the new cat?

Yes, it sounds as though you will be among the first to have Tiger in hand. Just the luck of pre-order and your time zone. Will look forward to your comments. Also noticed the price difference for your family pack, sorry.

Hope you're coming to the Tiger Release Party at AppleCentre taylor Square? It kicks off at 6.30pm on Thursday 29th and will go on until about 1am.

I hope the online Apple Store actually gets it right and does deliver to us that day.

Unless some of us receive Tiger a day early here in the U.S as we did with iLife and iWork.

Party

This party you all speak of......what happens at Apple Stores across the country?

Do they serve Apple Cider or something? Perhaps they will have live tigers greeting people? Will Christina Applegate and Tiger Woods be working the cash registers?

Also, when do they usually put Tiger on the demo machines? I can't wait to put my paws on Tiger.

(Sorry about all the puns. :D )

i was just at a Apple store and they said i couldnt use my student discount on software at the Apple store only online. im offically disappointed.

Let not your heart be troubled, each store has there own policies. Actually if you order Tiger online, chances are it will arrive prior to the 6pm release party. It all depends on the normal time of delivery in your area.

Maybe I missed this answer and I did do a search for it on this forum, however what is the "GM Build No." curious. :)
Those that might know the answer to that question are under NDA. The latest seed for Select ADC members is still 8A425, dated the 28th of March.

what exactly is the "tiger release party?" there are at least 3 or 4 apple stores within my area.. id be curious to know what one is.. id prolly go to one lol...
