That involves booting into Single User mode and replacing it manually. There's a post somewhere here that tells you how to do it. I'll post a link to it as soon as I find it.

EDIT here's what you do (READ THOROUGHLY!! and follow this exactly):

- Download the new system font here: https://forums.macrumors.com/attachments/lucidagrande-dfont-zip.667024/

- Unzip it to your desktop. Reboot.

- Once you hear the bootup chime, boot into single user mode by holding Command-S

- Once the Bash prompt comes up, type "mount –uw /" (without the quotes)

- Type this: "mv /System/Library/Fonts/LucidaGrande.dfont /System/Library/Fonts/LucidaGrande.dfont.backup" (without the quotes). Hit Return.

- Type this: "cp /Users/yourusername/Desktop/LucidaGrande.dfont /System/Library/Fonts/LucidaGrande.dfont" (without the quotes). Hit Return.

- Reboot by simply typing "reboot" (no quotes). Your system font will be changed.

- It'd be wise to do a permissions repair at this time.

BE SURE to replace "yourusername" (in bold above) with YOUR user name in the line where you copy the font to /System/Library/Fonts or it will not work and your system will be temporarily hosed.

The font that you downloaded will be San Francisco, and the only way to get it to work as a system font is to completely replace Lucida Grande in /System/Library/Fonts, which is what that file does. We back up the original just in case you change your mind later.

If you want to revert back to Lucida Grande, you'll have to follow different steps, but that bridge can be crossed if need be at a later time.

Disclaimer- I am not responsible if you hose your system by taking these steps and something goes wrong.
Yes, Thank You! That worked flawlessly. My old g5 is new again, Very Cool,

After a lot of testing I see very few resources other than specific apps that still need to be themed, and a few things that just need to be fixed. Apps would most likely be too much of a pain to do since there are so many, and so many different versions of them. As it stands I think this theme is probably 95% complete. A few buttons need to be fixed but that's really it.

I concur with your opinion about theming apps. There would just be too many to theme; even iTunes has many different versions using different resources. I use iTunes 4 under Tiger myself and have no use or desire to upgrade, and based on the method of installation that the theme uses, there'd be no true way to test for versions to avoid messing up someone's install, which may be a later version that uses a different resource scheme. Same goes with the myriad other apps in OS X. Tiger isn't like Leopard, where much of the theming was unified. Rather, it was quite a kludge of old and new ways of theming the OS that guaranteed that any new theming would never be perfect.

With regards to what still needs to be done, there are a few buttons that I need to fix for proper behavior, and a few other minor resources that need some repair. There are a ton of little, very-seldom-used resources that I'm considering not even touching. As time has become a precious commodity these days, I'll probably just concentrate on fixing the little issues that the theme has, and leaving it be once that's done.

I ran the installation on my Dual Core G5, which had the old v1.0 TigerSierra theme installed and CandyBar 2.6.1, which advised me that it's 15 day trial period had ended and needed to be purchased.

Panic Inc, who are hands-down my favourite indie Mac developer, offered Candy Bar version 3.x (Leopard+) for free, but never released a free activation code for v2.x. Unfortunately there is no way to pay these good people for this old version via their website, so I had to figure out a workaround...

To reset the CandyBar 2 trial period:
1. Quit CandyBar
2. Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.panic.CandyBar2.plist
3. Relaunch CandyBar.

I was then able to open the Applications and System iContainer files and apply the icons. Easy done.

Thanks again to @swamprock, @AmazingHenry and everyone involved in making this old cat look fresh again.

Yes, it's finally out-

http://atari.vg-network.com/tigertheme/

final.png

PLEASE read the readme completely before installing. Instructions, credits, thanks, etc are all included in that file.

This theme isn't completely... um... complete, but much of the heavy lifting is finished. Now it's just a matter of filling in the little nooks and crannies that still need theming, and correcting any issues that may have been missed.

Installing icons will require using CandyBar 2.6.1 for now. There are just too many icons to change, which precludes the use of a script to do so. I have included the iContainers for use with CandyBar to do so. These will also theme the Finder sidebar icons.

I left wallpaper out of this release, due to the lack of resolution independence in Tiger. There is a way to blur and install the right size wallpaper for the login screen, so if anyone wants to know how to do it, just ask here.

If anyone wants to take on putting a better installation process together, by all means go for it!

Please use this thread to report any problems, ask for help, comments, or any other issues that may arise...

... and enjoy!
[doublepost=1519220910][/doublepost]can you upload a video of how did you installed it? I read the instructions but I've no idea

The previous post's request may seem a little strange to many of us, but I appreciate that with somebody who's mother-tongue is not English, the procedure could seem a little daunting, despite the excellent 12 point installation guide provided by Swamprock & team. Even I managed to screw up one line of the procedure as per post #16 until shown the error of my ways. The addition of this theme however is well worth perservering as it transforms the original look of Tiger.

Whilst on the subject of PPC instructional videos, one I personally would love to see is Lastic's SMtube 18.1 installer. I'm almost too ashamed to admit that I once tried this but never managed to complete it. I guess partially because I used Dronecatchers's somewhat similar YouTube Player option.
For all you video producing lovers out there, perhaps the above may be food for thought, and potentially a load of 'likes'......;)

sorry for my english level:( I appreciate your comment

[doublepost=1519252508][/doublepost]...

No real need to apologize.
1st step is to download the theme.
2nd step is to go to the instructions, and print off the page - especially the 12 instructional steps.
If you have difficulty undertanding any of those 12 steps, just ask away and someone here can surely assist and/or translate to the language of your choice - which I'm guessing may be Italian....?

When I put the password (step 6) don't happen anything, my keyboard is azerty but I use qwerty, you think that in the terminal I need to put the password in azerty? (Spanish)

PS: I've got an g3 clamshell from France, thats why its azerty

To be sure of the correct answer here, as a trial I've just installed this theme again on a PowerBook G4 Ti. It works a treat.
Firstly when using terminal, what you see on-screen is whatever your keyboard is set up for. If you have an Azerty keyboard the terminal will display whatever Azerty keys you press. Same for a Qwerty keyboard. I've just proved this as I always set up my Macs for either QWERTY or AZERTY and the top toolbar right-hand side displays an icon flag - British or French whichever I may choose, whenever required.
If you've followed the instructions exactly, in step 6 when asked for your password, you will not see the password appear on the terminal screen (I believe this is a security feature when using the sudo command in terminal).
So, if you've typed in your password correctly, you won't see it appear on screen, but the install procedure should commence, mine just did and started with a prompt to ensure that no apps (apart from Terminal of course) are running.
If nothing happened after you typed in your password, I guess you may have incorrectly typed it.
Here's a screen shot of my PowerBook G4 desktop, and I've added the About This Mac info to show how that should appear if the theme is correctly installed. The Dock icons have not yet been changed. That has to be done by downloading and installing CandyBar 2.6.1, but all that is described clearly using the instructions also provided.

Note: In step 3 of the installation instructions, after typing 'cd' (without the quotes) be sure to hit the space bar once, and not the enter key. I first made that mistake. :(

He hit Return before dragging the theme folder to Terminal after typing 'cd'. The picture he posted shows what happened.

Hey @swamprock - where have you been? Hope all is well.

I'm alive. I've just been super busy with work lately, and haven't had time for even family life, much less leisure time. My schedule has finally loosened up, though, and I'll be around again...

I could probably throw together a quick installation video, once I get caught up with some home issues that I got behind on...

Sort of on-topic, but off-topic... If anyone is running 10.7-10.9 and has Flavours beta (the final version of Flavours 1- costs $10) for theming, I've uploaded a Sierra-like theme to the Flavours store. It's a modification of someone else's theme (with credits fully attributed), and one that I'll probably do a few more mods to (as time allows) to get it a bit closer. It's pretty nice as it stands now, however. I actually did this a while ago, but never shared it until a few weeks ago.

Kudos to Adrian Oprea, developer of PPCAppStore for including this theme in the latest update of his app (v2.1). Also included are notable Leopard themes; iOX PowerPC Theme, Mountain Leopard Theme and also @eyoungren's Black Mac OS X Theme.

I find it cool that most of us were included in the credits.

Although my favorite is still Mountain Leopard because it integrates with 10.5 incredibly well. That, and the fact that I mostly still can't begin to understand why people want to imitate the Jonathan Ive abomination that is the Californian theme in recent releases. Apple went with Fischer-Price garbage in many books, and that's a segment of what killed them.

But that's just my tastes...

Hello, I am just wondering how did you get the AppeStore and other icons for your dock? because I’ve no idea, I’ve been looking everywhere for them and tried everything to make them work, I even with some .png file icons but with no results, they won’t display correctly on Tiger 10.4.11.

Sorry, I need some help about icons and the "About Your Mac" mod. In fact when I try to change icons manually in Candybar (fully activated with a serial) they never gets read. They appear as the normal Mac OS X photo file placeholder. I tried PNG and ICNS files. iContainers sets works great however. Another problem is that the system still show me the classic About Your Mac window, not the modified one like yours in the screenshots. How can I fix these things? Thanks

Use img2icons 0.5.1 (free) to convert pngs to icns. The resulting icons will work with Candybar 2.x. Newer icns don't work with CB 2.x. If the icns file generated doesn't work with Candybar for some odd reason, convert the png to a folder instead and that'll work.

I'm not sure why the ATM window didn't change for you. There is a manual way to install these resources but it's quite involved. Take a screenshot of your desktop with the ATM window, post it here, and I'll see if I can guide you through fixing the issue.

I'll eventually get back to fixing a few issues with this theme and will release a version 3. Not sure when, though...

I bypassed Candybar and changed the icons directly into the Resources folder of the .app files and anything worked great (in the screenshot you can see Firefox icon on TenFourFox, The PPC app store and iPhoto).
For me it's not a problem to manually modify the ATM window if you explain me how to. There's the screenshot.

Hmm... That's a weird one. The image took, but the rest of the resources didn't. I'll put something together to fix that when I get home tonight.
