Thank you a lot. Now it’s 2:35AM in Italy, so I will let you know in the morning when I get up.

Italy, huh? I think that might be the issue, and something I didn't think about when I put the script together. I have a feeling that the ATM files modify resources within the English language .lproj folder. If you installed it on an Italian language install of Tiger, it'll modify the MacOSX.tiff image, but not the rest, as the script doesn't touch the Italian .lproj folder. It would be a simple matter of renaming a couple of folders, but I don't know what effect it would have on the system other than everything in ATM being in English (or not. Still not sure). If you can live with that possible effect, the fix will be easy.

I'm not home yet, so I can't check the script. I'll edit this later tonight with the procedure once I see if the language .lproj folder gets modified.

Yeah, you're right. I changed the System Language and the ATM window perfectly works. For me it's not a real problem if the About This Mac will be in English. However if I can do something to translate your modified English language .lproj folder to Italian so even "Informazioni su questo Mac" (About this Mac) will be fully in italian, let me know. I'm bit of a perfectionist :D

P.S.: I can provide you a working serial number for Candybar 2.6.1 so you can add it to the Readme files. No more need to delete the .plist files as AphoticD described a few post before

I think if you rename /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/ to Italian.lproj, and vice versa, you wouldn't need to change your system language. I would, of course, back everything up in Italian.lproj beforehand, just in case. Just copy both folders to your Desktop, make another copy of them as backup, swap names, remove the originals from loginwindow.app, and move your swapped folders back in.

I found another application that will allow older PowerBooks to use trackpad scrolling with one finger. It’s not the same as using two finger scrolling, but I think it’s better than having to click and hold the scroll bars on windows. The program is called Sidetrack and can be found at https://web.archive.org/web/2007010...ngmenace.com:80/software/sidetrack/index.html

It appears that it’s no longer for sale, so it’s basically expiring shareware unless the author is gracious enough to supply a serial...

Yes, it's finally out-

PLEASE read the readme completely before installing. Instructions, credits, thanks, etc are all included in that file.

This theme isn't completely... um... complete, but much of the heavy lifting is finished. Now it's just a matter of filling in the little nooks and crannies that still need theming, and correcting any issues that may have been missed.

Installing icons will require using CandyBar 2.6.1 for now. There are just too many icons to change, which precludes the use of a script to do so. I have included the iContainers for use with CandyBar to do so. These will also theme the Finder sidebar icons.

I left wallpaper out of this release, due to the lack of resolution independence in Tiger. There is a way to blur and install the right size wallpaper for the login screen, so if anyone wants to know how to do it, just ask here.

If anyone wants to take on putting a better installation process together, by all means go for it!

Please use this thread to report any problems, ask for help, comments, or any other issues that may arise...

... and enjoy!

HELLO !!! Today I tried this on my G4 Cube ! It worked, everything have changed except Applications Icons. Does anyone have a solution for this ?
Thanks.

Use Candy Bar 2.6.1 and the iContainers within the theme to change the application icons. Note that this won't change EVERY app icon on your system. You'll have to hunt down the missing ones and add them to Candy Bar manually. You can find icons on Deviant Art, but you may have to use img2icns 0.5 to convert them so that Tiger and Candy Bar can use them.

Grab Candy Bar 2.6.1 (no higher than that version, as the others don't work) from https://download.panic.com/candybar/ and do a Google search for a serial number. I'm sure Panic doesn't care that you use a found serial number, as they supply one for Candy Bar 3.x.x, so if you get a "pirated serial number" message, just look for and try another one. Open the iContainers (named Applications and System) included with the theme and apply them.

I'd be willing to bet that Panic would even supply you with a serial number if you asked...

hey I got Candy Bar working ! but there is too many icons ! do you know where I can fine an iContainers with lots all icons ? o_O

+ I can't do it manually because it gives me the .icons icon instead of the actual icons ! so yeah if I can't get an all in one file this will be super great !:apple:

So many great free icons here:

Some are in folders and many are in iContainers.

If your system does happen to get "hosed" during installation and you are presented with a Darwin/BSD login prompt at next reboot, your system is not hosed and you do not need to reinstall.

1. Login, and then type 'cd Desktop'.

2. Depending on where "uninstall.sh" is located, you will need to navigate to its holding directory with 'cd' (you can check if it's present with 'ls'). For example, cd TigerSierraTheme-ver2

3. Once you've relocated to "uninstall.sh"'s current directory, just enter 'sudo ./uninstall.sh'. It will run, the system will reboot, and everything will go back to normal.

I've just got to say it. Learning Linux was among the greatest decisions I've ever made. It instills the lasting mentality of "I can fix this." into you, putting the user in true control, which very soon proves immensely useful many a time.

I feel the same way about DOS, which I first learned in 1990. Makes understanding and manipulating Windows machines so much easier.

It works on Leopard (WWDC 06)… just need a theme for iTunes 6 to tie it all together if it can be done.

Interesting, but not surprising, since both Tiger and Leopard utilize the Extras.rsrc for (some, in Leopard's case) elements, and also share some of the same Finder, SecurityAgent, and other resources. Some first and third party apps may not theme, though, and there may be some other glitches, which is why it was only recommended (and tested, and developed) for Tiger. Tiger used Extras.rsrc extensively, whereas Leopard only used it for certain Carbon elements, and utilized Artfile and SArtfile resources for most of the UI elements.

Also.... can Safari 4.1.3/TenFourKit and iTunes 9.1.1 be themed? They stick out like a sore thumb.

Many of Apple's (and others; Coreplayer, for example) own apps use their own internal resources for their appearance. You could theme them, but it'd have to be done one app at a time, which is why I never tackled them. It's also another reason Apple started moving towards UI continuity, starting with Leopard.
