U.S. President Donald Trump today said that he is signing an executive order to keep TikTok running for an additional 75 days as his administration continues to work on the sale of the social network's U.S. operations.

TikTok was barred from operating in the United States when the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act went into effect on January 19, but Trump at the time ordered the Department of Justice not to enforce the law for a 75-day period. The window was set to expire on Saturday, April 5 if TikTok did not reach a deal to sell to an American company, but TikTok now has another two and a half months.

Trump said on his Truth Social network that his administration has made "tremendous progress" on a deal to "save" TikTok, but more work is required. Rumors suggest that Trump's team has been considering offers from companies like Oracle and Perplexity, along with individuals like Jimmy Donaldson (also known as MrBeast), Shark Tank host Kevin O'Leary, Employer.com founder Jesse Tinsley, and billionaire Frank McCourt. Amazon even made an offer this week.

TikTok parent company ByteDance has said that it does not plan to sell TikTok, and China has also not agreed to a deal, but Trump believes that tariffs could be used for leverage. It is possible that Trump will aim for an agreement that includes bringing on multiple U.S. investors with the TikTok algorithm leased from ByteDance, but it is not yet clear if that will meet the requirements of the law.

Look I think this whole ban thing is a silly thing to begin with, but A) wasn’t he the one who wanted it banned to begin with years ago and B) the heck is the point of bans or laws or anything if you can just keep “executive ordering” your way around it?

This temporary unbanning will continue forever until Trump can find a buyer that aligns with his worldview. So much for free trade.

Yeah after what he did with Tariffs, China will probably never sign off to sell TikTok now, and will probably raise the tariffs even further against US. I would not be surprised even potential further economic retaliation as result.

LOL, this one-sided “deal making” conversation keeps happening.

He thinks a deal is real “close” yet TikTok isn’t even up for sale. He thought China would agree to tariff relief if they agreed to sell TikTok. Turns out they just retaliated with 34% today.

This all feels like a stalker that keeps reaching out to start a relationship.

Nothing surprises me of what the biblical antichrist does 😬 of course it’s shocking but I can’t be surprised anymore because all the things Trump does.

Even before the 34% response today, it was obvious the U.S. needs TikTok more because of the jobs and e-commerce opportunities created by the app.

Who the heck tells companies not to follow the law, extends a “ban” twice, and keeps reaching out pleading for a deal?

Worse. Bluff. Ever.

I don’t get why he’s so fixated on an app full of silly videos and people dancing. Is Trump on commission if it gets sold to an American company?

People get addicted to its secret sauce algorithm

A while back someone sent me a link that I couldn't view in the browser on my iPhone so I downloaded TikTok and played the linked video ... once I saw how things go in there for a few minutes I immediately deleted the App.

It's crack cocaine in App form.

Well, there is another more urgent to put out....it's callled the freakin global economy...lol...expected this....just like with Trump's 1st term, he starts ensuing chaos and never completes anything....
I think he will successfully complete the total destruction of America. It won't exist with three more years of this.
