He’s THE Anti-Christ. That’s why he’s so different than anyone who has ever lived. Have you seen his supporters wearing Bandage in their Ears to show solidarity to him last summer? Or they clapping at everything he says even if it means financial hardship? This is beyond a cult at this point.

By extended the TikTok sale or ban deadline, it gives Trump more time to use it as leverage to get China to agree to a sale in exchange for lower or no tariffs.

You can't keep executive ordering your way around if the legislature and judiciary do their jobs. Right now they are in willfully failing to exercise their responsibility to be the check on executive-power abuse.

Elon already said he’s not interested because the algorithm isn’t for sale. Nobody smart is dumb enough to buy something without the secret sauce.
You only have old tech guys from Oracle interested in the shell of a company because they think it’ll increase their brand recognition.

Cultural critics - think TikTok is brain rot, addictive and destructive.
National security types - focused on China surveillance and influence.
Dealmaker types - want to now “save” TikTok by handing it off to U.S. investors (after originally wanting to ban it).
Partisans - people who liked TikTok until Trump wanted to keep it, or hated it until Biden tried to ban it.
You’ve got anti-China hawks awkwardly teaming up with digital wellness advocates or concerned parents, while political partisans are trying to reverse engineer a moral stance based on who’s currently for or against it.

I guess I'm not really alarmed by folks "teaming up"
It's ok to have interests of multiple groups align and agree on some things.
I feel like that has been totally lost in our political climate of the last 15+ years now.
Because it’s easy to copy the idea, but incredibly hard to match the execution.
Anyone can build a feed that shows you videos and tracks what you watch. The hard part is training an algorithm over years, using data from billions of users and trillions of interactions, to get scarily good at predicting what keeps users hooked.
If someone else builds a similar system, it won’t perform the same without the same volume and quality of behavioral data, the same infrastructure for real-time feedback, and the same subtle refinements. The actual TikTok algorithm is much more valuable than just the idea of it.
They're not concerned about privacy and data collection, they're concerned about the biggest competitor to American social media (read: Musk's X and Zuck's Meta) not being under their control.
It can sort and understand the 30 million videos uploaded to it daily.
It's really good at offering content users find interesting, even if they weren't searching for it. Most importantly, it has integrated e-commerce features, basically shoppable content. This what the people who think it's just an app that shows cute videos don't understand. TikTok is an AI company and millions of small business owners in the U.S. rely on this app.

Hey… they are willing to launch a trade war over it and put everybody’s retirement savings in the toilet. I had no idea that TikTok and renaming the Gulf of Mexico were such hot button topics for voters in the last election.This administration is putting a lot of work into saving TikTok, and I'm not even 100% sure why. 😬

I’ve seen the consequences firsthand—a young kid I knew took part in a TikTok challenge. Now? He’s in prison. There are others too, though I can’t speak from personal experience with those cases. Honestly, I believe the obsession with social media apps might end up being more addictive than heroin laced with fentanyl. 🙄
