Steve wouldn't have done this. He probably would have written something like:

"We got 'em!

Sent from my iPad" and then go back to doing Steve-stuff.

Still, isn't a lot of this copy and paste from the press release?

Yes, but undoubtedly Tim Cook saw and personally approved both. My guess is that they had two press releases and employee e-mails ready to go depending on what the verdict was.

Were Apple fans. I love all my Apple products, but I am now done with this company that is trying to sue there way into a monopoly. I will keep what I have, but will not be purchasing anything new from them. I know I will get negative comments since I didn't give Apple praise, and the faithful do not look past the :apple: symbol.

They aren't trying to sue their way to a monopoly. They are simply protecting themselves against being double-crossed by one of their biggest suppliers (Samsung) and a former board member (Google).

Apple entered into cross-licensing agreements with Microsoft on the Surface, which to me presents a bigger threat to the iPad than all the Android tablets put together. I think they are OK with fair competition, but don't like it when "partners" turn on them the way Samsung did.

Whether Tim Cook or a writer authored this, the bottom line is that it was done with finess, appreciation, thoughtfulness and class.

So what happens with the sales of Samsung devices?

There will be a hearing on September 20th to determine whether to impose an injunction. In the meantime, Samsung is free to explore ways to work around the patents.

I think this is probably the best describe my feelings in the matter exactly.

Hey, Go get your Galaxy tomorrow before its banned!! :D

When Tim Cook (Apple CEO) said that the current patent system was 'broken', he was right. But there's a lot more he needs to do in regards to the way he uses it to not be a hypocrite. Software should mostly be made up of open standards, not "my two finger gesture does this on my phone, so it can't on yours". Though I can understand it to a certain degree, it's this is a bit too extreme.

Other companies need to learn to become more innovative, like Apple is. However, there will be certain things that need to become standards. If something like this had happened decades ago, only one company would be able to have a QWERTY keyboard, only one company would be allowed to have a mouse and so on. There are certain things that should be shared as being equal among all companies when it is invented by one company. Though certainly at a cost of using their idea, but not the extreme of denying the use of another company's idea entirely or a settlement as large as $1 billion at the end.

You prefer copying over innovating? That's too bad.

Today, values have won and I hope the whole world listens.

"Today, values have won and I hope the whole world listens...."

Dont they already listen? For the last 10 smth years

Watch what happens if the Surface or Windows Phone becomes super popular, they'll attempt to find a loophole to pull the cross licensing on the Surface and the Windows Phones ( tho I don't think they have any for Windows Phone, its VERY different ), then sue Microsoft and say they invented everything on the Surface/Windows Phone.

" Its a rectangle with a touch screen! THEY STOLE IT! "

Apple has 0 interest in actually competing by making products. We already see what a pile of fail the iPhone 5 will be.

What happened to the company that made phones I wanted to buy?

So, other than looking like a rectangle.

They run different OS's, use different hardware, have a different amount of buttons, are different sizes, use different apps, and aren't even made of the same material?

Yes, copying!

So, I'm taking it that I can have your place in the line at the Apple store for the 5?

For those who wish to read Samsung's statement.

"Today’s verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple, but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices.

I've read this statement before....oh right it was GM complaining when they passed CAFE laws. GM fought it claiming it would hurt consumers and stifle innovation and pass prices onto consumers. What happened? The Japanese companies innovated, made fuel efficient cars, and sold affordable cars to millions of Americans. GM went kicking and screaming and eventually went bankrupt. Now suddenly they are making cheap fuel efficient cars and are doing well. What's the lesson, companies that claim something will stifle innovation, raise prices, etc. don't want to change, they just want to keep doing what they have been doing. Innovate or die Samsung. Go make your own OS. See how hard it is to do.

I'm looking forward to the new iPhone. LTE, a thinner design, and possibly NFC all appeal to me.

As for the Surface, I'm sure Tim Cook knows quite well that Microsoft will be marketing that device hard. For all we know, he's comfortable with Apple having 20-30% of a market 4 times as large as he is with owning 70% of today's market.

RE: Tim Cook Addresses Apple Employees After Lawsuit Victory

Who can remind me, What company said good artists copy and great artists steal. Hmmm food for thought. Isn't fun when the tables are turned.

Seems like a tone-deaf e-mail and a bit slavish, to borrow a popular word, with the morality speak. It's like the message from a king who's won some foreign war that benefits his interests and expects his subjects will be overjoyed. The majority of Apple's employees won't care that Apple won, and some will be upset it did. And when you look at the people who work for Apple, the vast majority of whom are not employed by Apple, I imagine the disinterest in Apple's success in a lawsuit is even higher.

So far, Tim Cook is still, to me, only proving he is the curator-of-intertia-in-chief. And he's doing a good job at that. Still waiting for one original idea or thought from the man who says that today Apple defended the rights of innovators everywhere.

Lmao. God forbid they protect what is theirs. Its the devils work I say!!!

The worst thing about this verdict is the truck full of sour grapes folk are going to have to put up with.

Well, I would never camp out for a phone. Because I have a life, if I was in the market for the next iPhone. Its not like my 4S ( my company gives me one as a work phone, I like it for the most part, its just not as good as my S3 ). will stop working the second the new iPhone comes out. I could easily wait a couple days.

So yes.
