Apple hasn't done anything but neglect almost all of their products from anywhere between 2 and 7 years while still charging full price. I guess in a way they are brilliant getting people to buy old overpriced technology.

Maybe it was a typo in the article...Maybe Tim Cook was one of the most influential people in the Architectural industry with the new space station building he built? I don't think he's done anything for the tech industry.

As is with almost anything Cook + Apple, Jobs did that before his passing. Cook is simply a steward. As a CEO, Cook is doing exactly what he should. Do I think he's influential, yes, but definitely not in tech.

I'm not sure how Tim Cook is influential apart from being the CEO of the world's most valuable company. Steve Jobs was influential. Tim Cook is just a numbers guy. If anything, he's holding the company back from its true potential.

Elon is the closest person to Jobs alive today. He WILL change the world. Tim Cook will not, he's just a very rich man who gets even richer every time somebody buys one of his company's shamefully overpriced sub par products.
Well musk is reinventing what Porsche already innovated on 1904.

And cook deserves whatever compensation the board gives him.

You don't think Cook has influence? Ok then..

There's a very large difference between being an influencer and actually doing something influential.

That's because they're all just fat cats compensating each other. The exec pay in that company is outrageous. Everyone is using it as their personal get-rich-quick piggy bank. They are living off of Steve's legacy, coasting along with the company for as long as it'll continue to line their pockets.

Steve was NEVER about the money. I'd like to see Tim Cook take $1 a year in wages.

I know at this point it's in very bad taste to suggest what Steve would have wanted/thought. But I don't think he'd have been pleased with the current output of the company he loved so much.

So what's your antidote for this? This is the system we have in this country.

I don't live in your mess of a country. But the entire western world is run by a privileged few. So it's not like it's surprising what's happening. It's just wrong.

I won't comment towards that line of enquiry further. This thread is not listed as political, and we all know how trigger happy the mods are around these parts.

Is being slim a requirement to be part of top management at Apple? Not complaining, just wondering? Steve was always slim even before he got sick...and all their devices aspire to thin. It seems to be an obsession.

You're of course entitled to believe that the executives at Apple are overpaid. As a shareholder myself, I do not. I think that, if anything, Mr. Cook in particular is underpaid. But he seems happy doing the job he's doing for the compensation he's getting, so that's of course fine with me.

To the notion of Mr. Cook taking $1 a year as Mr. Jobs did: I suspect, if he was offered 70 million shares of AAPL for roughly 14 years as its CEO, instead of what he's received so far and is likely to receive going forward, he'd accept that - or, at least, he wouldn't turn it down because he felt it was too little compensation. That's essentially what Mr. Jobs got for being CEO in his second act with Apple.

That said, Mr. Cook's actions have suggested that he isn't interested in squeezing every dollar he can (for himself) out of being Apple's CEO. For instance, he's already voluntarily given up over $50 million worth of dividend equivalents which he's been entitled to. And he's on track to give up around another $30 million worth over the next 5 years or so.

Well I love my country and the freedom it affords. Anyone can become one of the few. And good for them.

Who is Jeff Williams?

Rather you're being flippant or not, allow me to educate you briefly:

Williams has been with Apple 20 years and is the Chief Operating Officer and answers directly to Tim Cook. He helped launch the first iPhone under Jobs. He also was in charge of the iPod and iPhone in worldwide operations. He is in charge of the Apple Watch and Research Kit.

What do you guys have against Tim Cook, eh?

Under his visionary guidance, he's ended AirPort, end-user automation, displays, stagnated Apple's product cycle, weakened trust with Apple's deprived professional base, released the Apple Watch to a lukewarm reception, and consistently released watch bands in multitudes of colors while highlighting emojis as a core, important feature within macOS and iOS!

What more could you people want??

What have they been smoking? I really need to get some of that California weed, that **** is just blowing peoples minds...

Although not a fan of Cook, how is Zuckerberg higher on there? Facebook has merely bought Instagram and Oculus while copying Snapchat. What's he influencing?
And considering he stole the Facebook idea I don't think he really did anything.

He deserves the boot which is what I've voted for the past 3 elections. Timmy is not what Apple needs.

Actually, let me chime in for a more interesting connection.

Tim Cook and Jeff Williams:

1. Joined Apple in 1998.
2. Williams worked for IBM from 1985 to 1998.
3. Tim Cook worked for IBM for 12 years and then Compaq for 6 months ( according to Wiki ).
4. Tim and Jeff BOTH attended Duke University with an MBA.

Smell a rat? You should.
