Don't question Tim he really knows where his words come from...
We do also. From a southern part of his body.
I wonder how many people in US do know that the name "Europe" is ancient.
Don't question Tim he really knows where his words come from...
Android is Europe. OSX is the US. iOS is Canada.
Windows is North Korea.
Apple wouldn't be a dictatorship; they'd be a single country with a single identity and culture.
That's the worst analogy I've ever heard in my life.
So what does that make Apple, a dictatorship?![]()

But he is right though! Europe is a big mess. And so is Android.
Who would have the power to set up such a rule to be effective in all of Europe? In Europe we have a rule that whoever brings up WWII in an argument first, loses.![]()
Sorry, I'm not offended. Comparing means to point out similarities and differences. You can compare any two things, even apples to oranges. I see plenty of articles mentioning the $14b stock buyback, nothing about "Europe like Android, is many things".One European (non-English) news source I saw had the following (translated) headline: "Apple CEO thinks Android Tablets are rubbish. Tim Cook compares Android to Europe". For most of the people visiting that front page, that will be all they read on this topic.
Android is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get.
Well wanted to buy an iphone and now i see i wont. Will wait and buy a samsung s5 and never again an iphone.
No. But every US state they speak English. They all use the US dollar. They all are subject to US Federal Law, And they all have the same stores, restaurants, and TV stations.
Can you say the same thing about Germany and Britain? Finland and Spain? Ireland and Norway? Switzerland and Turkey?
The EU is great in theory. But the reality is that it (Europe) is a collection of wildly divergent peoples, cultures, political systems, and economies. In a way that the USA fundamentally isn't.
Thats the point Mr Cook was trying to make. Sorry so many people are too sensitive to understand that.
Do not be emotional. It is easy to see he is stating Android has some good parts but many bad parts. Switzerland is not bad part of Europe.
But, Android has very many negative parts, such as is demonstrated in Europe by countries like Greece.
Is good comparison. Obvious, Android has much market share from good features like Switezerland and Germany. But also has many bloat and viruses like Greece.
What are you talking about? Europe consists of many countries having different cultures. At least Europe has a culture, something that the USA severely lacks...
I don't care about Android and the comparison to Europe, I care about what Tim Cook said about Europe's name...It's interesting to see how Macrumors (and other US Sites) don't even care to comment on this totally wrong statement.
Switzerland and Germany are good features and Greece is a virus? I suggest you read history..
Without Greece you would still be eating with your bare hands..
Greece is the cradle of democracy and civilization as we know it. Yes, they have problems and they are also responsible for most of them, but that doesn't make them a virus. I suggest you be more careful about what you say!
Well then, you just proved his point and maybe that's what he is talking about. And politically/economically Europe is a mess and please don't try to tell me otherwise. Btw, I am European too.
Thats debatable. Switzerland is the Delaware of Europe, home of all the letterbox companies.Switzerland is not bad part of Europe.
Thats debatable. Switzerland is the Delaware of Europe, home of all the letterbox companies.
It is obvious how EU would benefit from demise of Greece. Greece steals history from Macedonia, Albania, and others. Greece claims many great accomplishments but careful reading of history will tell you otherwise. Is why they sue to make Macedonia change the name of its country, Greece is insecure, and for good reason. All real Europeans know Alexander the Great and others are not from Greece. The country is a failed state.
Tim Cook alludes to this, the failings of Android are similar to the failing of Greece.

Good point, and I think Cook didn't want to insult anyone here. Europe never was something like the US, I don't even know why people compare them. You can compare america (the continent, not the US) to Europe, and there you got the same divergent cultures and people.
