If I had the money I 'd just pay up to tell him what a **** job he's doing and invite him along to meet John Sculley with me for some pointers.

...and he would probably react with more dignity than you would be showing him and politely point out that perhaps the only idiot at the coffee table is the one who just paid over $605,000 for the privilege.

He would then wish you a good day, whilst you call your own taxi...

Should have done this 2 years ago with Steve, and the Charity would have received a 8 digit bid. :)

Not Steve's style. In keeping with Buddhist beliefs that acts of charity shouldn't be publicly announced, he kept any giving he did a private matter.

Tim in the other hand, doesn't hold such beliefs. Nor does he agree with Steve's feelings that Apple has no right to decide what charities to support with shareholder money. So since Steve gave him the blessing to 'never ask what would I do' Tim didn't and follows his own heart on both matters

----------

pretty sure some startup company wants to pitch Tim their product to see if Apple would be interested in working with them.

There's likely some kind of terms or disclaimer that such things are not allowed.

ah yes because you could do so much better right?

Delays in several macs, bugs in several macs, overpriced computers later receiving price cuts, the maps debacle, the mac pro debacle, ios and os x at an all time low in terms of popularity even in (or especially so) in the mac community due to stale os development, the dixons guy in retail, 40% stock plunge... while sailing on Steve's laurels and apple enjoying a huge popularity and having 150 billion in the bank...Yes I genuinely think I could much better. :) Tim Cook IS John Sculley v. 2.

Any idea who J********n is? Jonathan Ive saving Cook from having to sit down with an accessory maker for an hour?

It's one of the most dignified gestures to point to someone their predicament especially if it's a negative one of their own making. It's for people with guts and self respect, not the arse kissers surrounding him which I am sure are telling him he's doing just fine.

...and Steve Job's had nothing to do with Mobile me [debacle], iPhone 4 [antenna debacle] or iPod Hifi [debacle which could not play every iPod] and Final Cut Pro [I am not even going there...], just from memory alone.

I would have loved to have watched you having coffee with Steve and watched you 'tell him what for' over the above...

Look, I am a fan of Steve Job's, but turning him from a legend into some mythical person and pretending that he made no mistakes is blind mindless devotion. And that not only scares me, it scares girls too...

Oh..... and one more thing, Apple has not sacked Tim yet for any screw-ups in the last 15 years, so he is one-up on Steve so far... ;)

It's for charity, it generates publicity and someone gets a huge tax write off. I hope Tim and the winning bidder enjoy a good conversation and know that they both helped out a good cause.

They want to kill him

I say the only one who might be that interested (paying $605,000) in meeting tim cook would be Samsung. They want to send a killer to kill him and get rid of apple's competition looool. well that aint gonna happen samsung. Too bad :p

Hey, that's a little unkind... we all know if it were Samsung, they'd steal some of his DNA and clone him to make a cheaper version, not kill him.

Then in a year or two they can do a charity auction that features coffee and a chat with one of the 's-Tims' plus several new exciting features such as:
- The ability to simply dart your eyes over to the s-coffee and the coffee shall pour itself into an s-coffee cup
- Cooler chairs - those chairs you sit in at Apple are for your parents!
- An actual on-site barista who owns an iPhone.

It's a sure-fire winner.

I hope whoever wins, asks him WTF he has been doing for the past 9 months.

I don't want to read about BS auctions, I want some new product news. Sick of waiting.
