Yeah which in no way is Scott’s fault anymore - i think you would agree with that?
Absolutely, and Apple Maps isn't a bad product; but when released as an alternative to Google Maps… It sucked so bad that even just an intern could/should have flagged it as not ready.

I happily switched to it when it was new, and damn near got killed following its directions for walking.

Yeah - Apple Watch wasn’t ready for release too - nobody got sacked.
they completely overhauled the UI after macrumors users gave them instructions - even the cpu and stuff was obsolete 1 year after realase they needed to do a s1 version.

so apple maps was just a political thing - getting killed while walking is always your personal fault Unless a tree hits you or an a bomb!

Noooooooo… as someone that happily wore that first Apple Watch (SS) for years I don't agree at all.

In my opinion calling that first AW obsolete after a year is as ignorant as calling every earlier iPhone obsolete simply because Apple releases a new one every year.

Why - who was in charge of building/acquiring the database?
How can we know? Was this really Scott’s fault? Under how much pressure was he to release Apple Maps at that time? Did he warn it wasn’t ready or not? We don’t know the details. All we know is he was fired because he did not want to sign the letter of apology to the public.

So the whole Apple Store godfather mafia is convoked it seems.
All these people will pretend they work for users, innovation, the greater good of humanity and other bullcrap.
Not at all for not "leaving money on the table" at the expense of developers.
Innovation is laughable in particular, with all the restrictions of the app store and the inability to even have a competiting web browser engine. Speaking of which, the web (a small innovation, heh) could never have been invented after app stores.

That’s - epic.

i hope forstall finally sets the things right - an axes cook - well deserved!
I don't think he will. I'm 100% confident that he's still super loyal to Apple even if he don't like those who are in the charge. I think the legacy of Apple and Steve Jobs is more important to him. Plus he's got a huge chunk of stocks so why would he want to axe the company?

Many people still don't know it but the decision to build their own maps was made under Steve Jobs. And in my opinion it was mainly Tim Cook's fault that he approved it. He isn't like Steve and don't care about the product. If he knew the Maps app was such a disaster he wouldn't released it. Or if you ask me I think the whole Maps fiasco was an excuse to fire Scott Forstall because Jony didn't like him.

I wonder if Forstall ran into Cook and Schiller - and if there is still any bad blood as Forstall definitely had to take one for the team back in the day.

Seems you are very special - even apple called it obsolete - giving you an s1 when the original was at fault - which was often because water-sealing was not strong with it.

Yeah - might be true.
there was an an internal rage after all Scott and steve - lots of internal trouble - its time to move on ... apple is a great company in an average society.

Epic was having difficulty locating Steve Jobs too.
I am sure Epic will claim that is proof that Apple is hiding key witnesses...

"Clearly Your Honor, Apple has something to hide - why, they won't even make Steve Jobs available for discovery and testimony!"

Cook will be on the Hot Seat BEFORE May 3rd, so the timing is NOT good for him !

Did NOT know Schiller is still running the App Store; I give him a D- for his work there !

A witness from Facebook? Seriously? Good for Apple. Trust and Facebook are opposites IMAO.

he got fired for a good reason. cause he ****ed up on apple maps
They found any excuse to get rid of the change-making elements who could stand in the way toward putting the whole operation on rails, maximizing profit and calling it a day. That’s it.

We see what the result is today.
