Your take demonstrates that you don’t understand the issue at hand.

The claim is that Apple News (known as a news aggregator) only picks up non conservative news sources and then puts these in their feed.

This is largely true.

Whether you understand the issue or not I don’t know.

I will tell you though that if you only hear one side, you can’t make educated conclusions because you lack data points.

Or is the issue that Apple News only uses veritable news sources and Brietbart et al. are not trustworthy news sources?
It would be great if the News app would only show AP, NPR, etc - unbiased news sources.

The outlets named in the report include Fox News, the New York Post, the Daily Mail, Breitbart, and The Gateway Pundit.

That's what the FTC wants for "balance?" Wild.

The publisher of The Gateway Pundit is widely known as "the dumbest man on the internet" (let that sink in), and his site is known for trafficking in conspiracy theories, hoaxes and misinformation. Not a news outlet at all. If you want a healthy dose of misinformation, go to Breitbart. And if it's racism you're looking for, go to Breitbart's comments.

But don't go to any of those places for "balance" of any sort.

Cheers. My thinking was on the hardware refresh years add security updates to software—no new features. This gives a year to work on the new major software version without releasing it and the remaining time leading up to WWDC to refine and clean up the whole thing—battery efficiency, bugs, issues, animations. WWDC could similarly move to every other year to align with software release years.

Knowing no new hardware is coming every second year gives them much more time for quality of both hardware and software. Once the benefits are felt the consumer would far prefer this is my thinking. As a small bonus, on software years Apple could add seasonal cases, new watch strap colors, and perhaps an additional phone colour. But no new devices.
Ahhh so you mean no hardware refresh at all, and no major OS release, on opposite years.

I was thinking like make one year a hardware redesign, together with a Snow Leopard type software release, and the next year keep the hardware design but make it an "s" year with a new chip or something, but a major software update with new features. Gotta keep those shareholders happy! 😂

The FCC elimination of the media same market cross ownership rules really consolidated media. Now removing national cross ownership caps is being debated in Congress. Pushed by the six companies that already own 90% of Americans see and hear on screens, paper, and speakers.

Yes, the fear shareholders would be unhappy, i.e. the reluctance to do it would ironically result in less great hardware and software potential. If they did do it, once the consumer got used to the cadence sales would find their rhythm, and software and first-gen hardware quality would improve along with brand reputation. I would expect to see some other brands following once the surveys came in.

How do you expect the House and Senate with their Republican majorities to pass laws to curb Trump, when most of them still support most of the awful things he does and says he's going to do, and he's the one who signs the bills to pass them anyway? Even on the rare occasions when they co-create bills to curb him, that pass both chambers, he virtually never signs them. The Epstein files vote was a rarity, and Trump signed that bill since he knew otherwise it was one of the very few that he'd be overridden on if he didn't, and he didn't want to look "weak" by being overridden. For nearly every other bill that the Republicans and Democrats could conceivably work together on to reign him in, there wouldn't be a supermajority to override his veto. It's absurd to say that Trump isn't responsible when he doesn't sign bills that have passed in the House and Senate by simple majorities.

In other words, it's not the fault of the entire House and Senate for not being able to pass bills to reign in Trump--it's the fault of most of the Republicans in those houses, who wouldn't vote in enough numbers to overcome Trump's vetos.
Sounds like ‘We the people’ need to stop voting in spineless politicians whose only agenda is to line their own pockets and shine their own 🫏.

It shouldn’t matter what party they belong to, they are accountable to the PEOPLE.

If Apple News is not reporting all the news be it right or left then why pay for it????
Time for everyone to re-evaluate what you’re getting
I was under the opinion Apple is unbiased but apparently they’re not if the FTC is getting involved

The MRC is not a legit walkdog source and nobody should actually consider them as such. They're not exposing media bias anymore than pushing their own idealogies in the name of fairness.

As others have pointed out, if apple news is an aggregator for your own curated content, then curate it to what you want of whats available. If apple doesn't have the licensing fees to that particular source, use a different aggregator or the actual source. I can't go to pizza hut and demand that they make me a big mac.

Hum. Seems like a waste of Tax payer money. Maybe Apple News is more left leaning, but that might be because the right leaning decided to not support Apple News. I tend to find more down the middle reporting from a few outlets I enjoy, but I also try to get information from multiple sources.

Now, did I vote for Trump? Yes I did. Do I like everything he has done? Bleep No.
Yet! I don’t blame Trump, I blame the House and Senate for behaving like elementary schoolers in the playground so bent on fighting each other because of their ‘parties’ and pointing fingers that they have FAILED to create any meaningful laws that would solve the issues and curb Trump’s … ego.

So you support a child abuser, rapist, and racist.

Anyway, doesn't Apple News asks your interests when setting it up and what news sources you typically read? You bet your ass I (as an Apple One Premier subscriber) blocked FOX News and all of those other rags. That's not Apple's choosing though, that was my own decision.

What the *ell is happening to our First Amendment and the Constitution?!?
Those are only threatened when there's democrats in control. Just like we need the second amendment only when Obama is trying to force Jade Helm (big nonsense sandwich) on us, but not when the government actually becomes tyrannical (like now).

I just checked the App Store, nope, no News app from Apple. Also not part of Apple One, over here.
I believe it's only available in a few English-speaking countries like the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, etc.

It's great to use for articles from websites that have enacted paywalls (like the New York Times or The Verge).

“The Washington Post, The Associated Press, Reuters, and The Wall Street Journal – publications that are traditionallly considered either center outlets or nonpartisan.”

Nonpartisan?? Looks like MR is also pushing left wing propaganda. These are far-left activist organizations, but unfortunately, 90% of mainstream media has become a left wing propaganda machine, turning otherwise normal citizens into deranged lunatics. The below is just a small sample of all the left wing propaganda/ disinformation they helped spread in the last few years. How many times will they get caught lying before the other 40% of the population finally wakes up and realizes they’re being gaslit? Real journalists have gone indie and that’s where everyone should get their news.

People who say they get their news from X or YT or TikTok or Facebook or whatever are hilarious. It's like someone saying "Who needs farmers? I get my food from the grocery store!"

Unless you're following the original reporters's social media accounts themselves, you're getting someone else's spin on the news. And even then, those original reporters are going to link to what's been published at their outlets eventually.

I definitely agree that I don't need Apple or anyone else to curate my sources of information for me. I can do that myself.
People who don’t get there’s a lot of things on YouTube are hilarious and think that farmers to grocery stores is an apt comparison to Apple News vs watching news stations on YouTube to be even more hilarious. A lot of hilarity ensues, it seems.

Boy, that's a new one for the Wall Street Journal. 😀 Go have a look at their op-ed section one of these days. And it's owned by the same people who own Fox News, one of their "good" conservative examples!

Now, to be fair, their news side is serious and rigorous; lots of people who read the WSJ have actual money at stake, so they can't be relying on propaganda of any sort.

The Washington Post is owned by Jeff Bezos, the man who also founded Amazon, which funded and distributed Melania, which is indeed a massive box office bomb - a critical and commercial failure, so to speak. It's failed to make back its production budget and marketing costs -- which would garner the "flop" label for any other widely released film. LOL. If you just refuse to believe science, numbers, tangible factual data...

And Breitbart is a conservative rag filled with opinionated misinformation and disinformation, it's not a legitimate news source. The AP presents news as is, with no slant. Literally just fact and evidence based reporting. If you think the TRUTH is left-wing, maybe take a look at your political party affiliation?
