The guy standing to the right of Tim Cook - he's got a black device clipped to his belt (right hip). Does not look to be an:apple: device (huge antenna sticking out)... You stand right next to the CEO of Apple with a non -Apple device?? :|

A walkie talkie.

That's 'shoes' to Americans

No way dude, these are shoes to anyone - shoe-ly! (Surely)

I am serious... And don't call me Shirley. Thank you! I'll be here all week be sure to tip your waitress.

It is part of the charade as no one in a right mind receives any pleasure from shaking an unwashed hand of someone who slept all night on the street among a number of other hygiene issues. I am surprised he did not wear gloves and a mask.

Oh please... don't be so judgemental. He's a nice guy - deal with it without being so cynical. :)

So interestingly enough there no Woz camping out this time that made the headlines... Did he switch to Android or something?

I'd love it if Mr. Cook cornered the first scalper and asked them to open their iPhone box on camera, while trying to get a sound bite out of them. Watch 'em squirm....! :D

Come to think of it, it would be embarrassing all around...

it's a Motorola CLS UHF business radio. they are used in all Apple Stores

But if we're criticizing dress codes, lets not get into how Steve Jobs dressed please.. I mean even in his keynotes. I think it's a tongue-in-cheek thing. "I have all this money and I could easily invest in some image/dress consultants, but I'm just gonna dress how I like and be my geeky self." That's how I've always seen it.

Jobs said once that always wearing the same outfit freed him from ever wasting a thought on what to wear (and buy in terms of clothes). Talk about being focussed.

One (unconfirmed) anecdote mentions that after a buying one particular black turtleneck he liked it so much that he wanted to buy more of it but it wasn't on offer anymore. So he contacted the manufacturer and asked how many he would have to buy for them to restart production (which was a three or four-digit figure).

When I was in the Stanford Store. Eddy Cue was wearing the Apple Watch and Tim Cook wasn't. Both of them were extremely nice to all the customers and taking photo with everyone.

I was surprised by Tim's outfit as well, last year he was wearing a collar shirt.

Eddy Cue actually held up his watch for me for a few second. It was really cool!

Here's the quote from Wikipedia: "[Issey Miyake] also developed a friendship with Apple's Steve Jobs and produced the black turtlenecks which would become a part of Jobs' signature attire. Jobs said, "So I asked Issey to make me some of his black turtlenecks that I liked, and he made me like a hundred of them."" Not quite the same as this "unconfirmed anecdote".

That's why I called it unconfirmed. I've heard different versions of it and was relatively sure that there was some kernel of truth in it but that it likely was somewhat different in reality.

Go Tim!
I like how involved he is on these sort of events.

Yeah love this photo, Tim clapping away in his own little world, good looking kid grinning at him and older and wiser guy looking at him over his glasses like he is some kind of nutter to be avoided.

That was interesting, thank you. ;)
