Tim Cook Highlights 'Magical' iPad Doo-Wop Duet Between Billy Joel and Jimmy Fallon

But he's still an incredible musician, so there ya go.
Yes not not as good as he used to be. The 2006 show I saw was amazing. The 2009 show I saw was good but not up to his lofty standards. Still even now he is so much better than 99% of the rest out there so maybe you are right :).

Try staying thin after the age of 40. Seems everything you eat goes right to your belly fat and love handles. A slice of pizza? If you're not hitting the treadmill for 3 miles, that pizza becomes fat.

The Apple vs Samsung debate is getting tiresome. Why bring it up in every ****ing thread? Can't we enjoy this awesome clip without nerd fights?

Agreed.

This thread should be more about a Fallon vs Ferguson debate. Craig runs circles around Jimmy the Bland. :D

Oh sure. I'd cut Billy some slack. But really, it's not that hard to stay in shape... at any age. You just have to stay active. Most people gain weight as they age because they become inactive.

This is pretty awesome! the "magic" was seeing it come together. For the people who think this kind of stuff can't be spontaneous, I spent many years in choral groups and many times we came together to create random moments music. I remember a European trip where we had a Czech orchestra with us. At dinner after a show, one of our baritone singers got a hold of one of the orchestra member's cellos and started playing it like a bass and singing "route 66" for them. Then more and more of us started joining in and also with their own instruments. Europeans love spirituals and jazz. It was awesome and an international bonding moment I will never forget! The moment literally WAS magical. Sorry for the people who have never experienced something like that to know it when they see it.

Are you seriously calling a touring musician inactive? Child, please. Just wait until your metabolism comes to a screeching halt and then let us know how it is.

Don't forget he was in a major motorcycle accident, so the fact that he is still alive is a major achievement.

I caught this on my TV the night it aired and I knew it was pretty special. Very Cool, wish I could have been there live.

Besides being a pretty amazing demonstration of what an iPad can do, this is why Jimmy Fallon may be the best thing to happen to The Tonight Show in many years. :)

Fallon is bringing back the "feel" of the original Steve Allen run of The Tonight Show, especially since Fallon is a pretty good musician himself. No wonder why I've enjoyed this show far better than I anticipated.

Apple has this while Samsung has to pay for celebrities to use their products rather unwillingly…
Pshhh...
They could have multi-tasked and bought tickets to Africa while being condescending to Apple users all with the convenience of an s-pen if they used Samesung.

I will. I've been around the industry my entire life and know it well. There are plenty of touring musicians that are inactive, especially at his level. When you have an entire crew to take care of just abut any need, you aren't required to be active. You can choose to be, but that is a different story.

Thanks for pointing this out, they almost tricked us all!!

There's no trick? That statement is 100% false. You could pick up the iPad and do it singing into the microphones. Would it sound the same. No. But then your not billy Joel or jimmy Fallon either.

Surprise. Pro audio equipment was used on a national television show. Here's another secret. They used cameras to film it and you couldn't even watch it without a TV. Can you believe that. What a scandal.

None of this takes away from the fact you can download the app and do the exact same thing right now.

----------

would have been great if all fallon used was the ipad and loopy, but his setup included a $1400 interface device from Apogee.

And television cameras to film it. Advanced equipment to beam to it satellites and relying on people at home to have televisions to watch it. You also would clearly need a studio audience at home.

What is wrong with people? You can download the app and do the exact same thing right now. What's stopping you? You sing into the microphones built into every iPad. Will it sound exactly the same. No. But then your not hosting a late night tv show.

The great part? More ppl will see this and actually enjoy it than the crappy Samsung ad attacking apple. Try some positive marketing next time.

Yeah. I mean, it isn't like they'd hire Justin Long to lie about how bad Windows was compared to Mac OS, as if there was an outrageous much of difference for most users...

true on YouTube its nearly 500,000 i believe...far more than a Samsung ad plus it was better made and not trashy. it was like an Apple ad..it showed what the product does and is used for

Ask any Mac user whether they think there's a difference between Windows and OS X and you'll get your answer. Yes, there is a HUGE difference.

Actually, it didn't really show what it does and is used for as much as it showed that it made it easy to have fun and produce something great. Apple ads emphasize the end benefits to the user and how it might improve their lives in a small way, not the tech specs most people don't understand nor have the ability to extrapolate to an end benefit.
