Pretty much yeah. Ipad pro is a giant ipad mini which is a giant ipod touch. :D
And everything now is a giant version of this minus the cell phone service.

In short, it comes down to "many" Many could mean a large number, yet a very small percentage, aka "the numbers game"
For some it could mean a significant percentage, maybe a majority, maybe a significant minority.

However, at the end of the day its is just marketing spiel, puffery, hyperbole, words to attempt to influence possible purchasers.

When Apple publishes anything, and I mean anything in the media, its never information, its always advertising, marketing, damage limitation. Its never informative or news.

They give us sound hardware, buggy software, they rarely respond to hardware/software issues, but they are wonder marketeers. And I say that as an Apple user, and generally an Apple product lover

What company releases sound hardware and non-buggy software and responds to hardware/software issues to the standards at which you're holding this language to?

How many bugs and issues are widespread in the media, and the article finishes with, Apple did not reply when asked for comment? Thats a regular occurrence. Anyone else at least replies that they are investigating etc. No biggie, but stuff like that sticks out like a sore thumb. I am only an Apple user since the 4S, and I see the changes from then till now. And the comments I read anywhere mirror this.

I used the words sound hardware as it used to be great hardware, now its only sound. I could go back to my 5S from my 6 Plus if the smoothness was more important than screen size. Perhaps matching the HW with the device would help the lag, but that reduces margin perhaps

As long as the competition is equally great at bugs (or has even more) overall, Apple is at no competitive disadvantage.

So what you are saying is that so long as we have a level playing field - bug and quality wise then that's OK - the public should put up with whatever is given to them? What a great tub thumping apologist for Apple you are.

His statement implied that this is now the case for the Pro, implying that it wasn't for the previous iPads

I didn't read anything with him saying that. And in any case, it's false. There are already many people who use iPads and (even iPad Minis and iPhones) as their primary personal computing device. But, given different needs, some need a device slightly bigger to get pushed in that direction. Perhaps a million?

Apple was known for high quality hardware, polished software. It just works. None of these are the case now, they have moved to being average, no doubt for profit reasons. They actually don't compete. Sure they like to have new customers from other platforms, but that don't compete actively, their mantra is a closed ecosystem and a closed customer base, who they know will buy and buy and buy. When you see negatives stated, say here, and the defenders come out, thats what I mean. No real motivation to excel, be the pinnacle of devices, the sales will happen. And thats fine with me. Ive worked past my failng SMB2 file copies failing as file is in use (BS), Im fine with my state of art 6 Plus being laggy and jerky in various uses, that my ATV4 is unfinished. All I ask is to cease and desist using words like quality, customer focussed, it just works. Then I am happy. Just use words like stock price.

Am I a disgruntled Apple user? Nah, I am a realist

If you think it's possible to do otherwise, you are welcome to start a company selling full-featured but 100% bug-free consumer software (and either save the world... or go bankrupt trying.)

Please concentrate, I used the word implied. Has he said in the past that many iPad users don't need a PC they can use the iPad? No. Now he does, implying that the pro takes that step. These are base users, or users only doing base tasks. The extra screen size is not an issue for that, albeit a very nice update.

It will sell, but its not cheap, so a harder sell. Some may shy away as its heavier, clumsier. Apple says in the past that too many make devices that are a solution looking for a problem. Is the Pro that? For business use its still shackled by iOS as are the other iPads, so business use is a no go. Price will probably deter consumers, so where is the market? A pencil and split view don't make this a laptop on the run

He/we doesnt mean bug free, as you in fact know. I suggest he means a bug and issue level that is within parameters of Apple's iconic and quality status. Its not, its worse than the rest of the market. Its every update, HW and SW, every one. Expected.

Tim Cook never said that.

"I think if you're looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?" [...]

"Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones."

TC's own words, not mine. How's that reading comprehension coming along?

That's not what you said.

Then as said before, more than likely they never needed a PC in the first place. However, if you follow that argument further why would the iPP be a game changer when Tablets of all shapes and sizes have been with us for some time now.

This is nothing more than a sales pitch. You see this all the time on TV, ads trying to convince us that our life will not be complete until we buy this or that product. What alarms me is that even a soft sell appears enough to make some Apple fans part with their money. They are not what one might term the discerning buyer.

Ahead of the launch of the iPad Pro, Apple executives have been doing a series of interviews to drum up excitement and interest in the device. Earlier today, The Independent published an interview with Tim Cook where he shared his thoughts on the Apple Pencil and the iPad Pro's target market.

This afternoon, The Telegraph published a second interview where Tim Cook spoke further on his vision of the iPad Pro as a PC replacement and how tablets are subsuming the PC market. According to Cook, the iPad Pro will serve as a replacement for a notebook or desktop computer for "many, many people."Cook also said the iPad Pro will be highly appealing to artists and other creatives, pointing towards the ease of use of the Apple Pencil and the iPad Pro's sound system, two features he also highlighted in his earlier interview with The Independent.

According to Cook, sales of the new Apple TV were "very strong," a sentiment he echoed for the Apple Watch, which will "set a new record this quarter." Cook also said Apple doesn't have plans to introduce sensors or other health features that would cause the FDA to get involved with the device. He didn't rule out the possibility of other products that require FDA approval, like apps.Tim Cook's interview, where he also speaks on the iPad mini 4 and device cannibalization, the health benefits of the Apple Watch, and the possibility of an Apple subscription service is well worth reading over at The Telegraph.

Apple's iPad Pro will go on sale online on Wednesday, November 11. Pricing for the iPad Pro starts at $799 for the entry-level 32GB Wi-Fi only model. A 128GB Wi-Fi only model is available for $949, and a 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model is available for $1,079.

I believe that an ipad can handle most of what users use a PC for. So ofcourse an iPad PRO can as well.
The problem I see is that casual pc users buy cheap pc's. You can buy 3 pc's for the price of one iPad Pro. This is why it won't replace PC's, not because it isn't capable. Will I buy an iPad Pro? You bet. But I need an LTE version and quite frankly the pricepoint is high. I only need 64GB but no LTE on that.
