full macos mode when iphone gets connected to a bigger screen, that would be very nice.
but it will probably not happen, for many reasons.
the main ones would be that apple has no clues what directions it is going.
it just try to follow easy money route, on the back of all apple users.. making money, but in a quick and dumb way. (that damage its reputation a lot by doing so, releasing uninspired, unfinished , buggy products as quick cash grab scheme)

personnaly what i would like is that all ipad, ios, watchos, etc.. to become all macos. a big unification.
with the UI just adapting to the hardware constrains and form factor.. "tablet mode, phone mode, watch mode..
underneath it would all be macos, with same capabilities, same functions.. that would be great for general consistency accros the various devices. so yes, connecting to a bigger display should show "desktop mode".


but .. that would require to have a very small , efficient, optimised, lightweight macos, that doesn't waste space and doesn't have tons of bloat everywhere. and that's something apple is not pursuing, it haven't noticed yet that OSes are supposed to be like that. small, fast, not getting in the way of the user.. but rather allow the user to squeeze the maximum of their hardware.

apple have no clues what it is doing nor where it is going anymore. it's like a headless (very very fat) chicken, still moving, but getting nowhere really.

you're probably correct, and that's very sad. that means money and user restriction dictate what the environment becomes. where idealy it should rather be OS features and ease of use .. all for the user. not for the money. i think that even in the best possible route-scenario, it would take a decade at minimum for someone to smell the coffee and get a pulse at apple. if it ever happens..

meanwhile, linux is kind of doing it already.. same kernel, UI adapting to the hardware constrains, possibility to connect to a bigger screen and get real full desktop.
 
"There's so much we can do with the iPhone." is an interesting statement from a company that hasn't shown any real sense of innovation in that device for quite a few years. It's a slow and steady thing. Most people say that's fine with them. So why act like it's not true?

With Apples vast financial, design and engineering expertise, they could easily create a compact highly useful iPhone.

Some will argue they've done it in the past and sales weren't that robust. But that was then and this is now.

Many iPhone users tired of large expensive iPhone models would welcome an opportunity to switch to an easily pocketed, lightweight iPhone.

As you can see from these forums, there's nothing Apple could do that would make people happy. For every action Apple can take, there will be people to whinge loudly about it.

same for me. i prefer smaller form factor. i currently have an iphone 12 mini. size is nice.

but unfortunately , apple doesn't ensure its UI is adapting well to smaller size display.
for example: in the files.app, it always displays the full search input bar.
on ipad that search input field, it is reduced to a button until i tap on it and only then it extends as a full search input field. but on iphone 12mini where the size is already limited, it insists to always show the search field fully. that wastes substantial space on an already small screen.
details like that, it makes me suspect apple doesn't even use their own products. or it would have noticed that the search bar is wrongly always extented..

but generaly speaking yes, i prefer smaller phones too..

Yeah. I have Siri hook into chat gpt and it’s pretty good at looking up info now. Much better than the “this is what I found on the web” days.

So then you're not technically using Siri.....and if you don't believe Siri is and was a failure, then nobody can help you....you're just trying to justify all you've spent on the Apple ecosystem which is fine.

What a disingenuous post. I’m the customer, I’m technically using Siri. I certainly don’t need your help. And on a forum such as this, posters can take it or leave it. 😉
