Geez. I have probably a dozen pairs of headphones (several high end studio types too) at this time and all of them have provisions for cables. Two of them are convertible bluetooth with optional cable as well types.

Am I concerned about the new phone possibly not having this jack? No, because Apple will have thought this through.

If it is an adapter, it will probably be something nobody anticipated and the "wah, I can't charge and listen to music simultaneously" issue will be addressed since the charging will most likely be wireless.

I see the vast majority of the people upset about the new phone is that it resembles the last two generations of the same model and also resembles previous versions. Complaints about antenna bands and protruding camera lenses. Most of you will be using this thing with a case on it so the bands and the camera lens is not going to be a problem.

You gotta admit, that Galaxy S7 is a sharp looking phone.

Apple is kind of running into an issue like they did with the G5 / Mac Pro aluminum towers - "familiarity breeds contempt" - it had been that form factor so long people started resenting the familiar. And nobody anticipated the trashcan design.

So, maybe not the next iPhone will be "new" in design but likely the one after that. I kind of wish they had a dark blue case though.

People said the exact some thing about the floppy drive and SCSI when Apple pulled it.

The 3.5mm analog jack was a band-aid from the beginning. The 1/4 phone jack is better in almost every way but of course it is too big for mobile devices. The digital output will give people more options when in comes to audio quality.

No, they didn't; the floppy was already on the way out - And the SCSI should have gone earlier - there was a significant cost factor to those.

All-Time Phones Sold
#12 - iPhone 6/6 Plus
#16 - iPhone 5
#18 - iPhone 4s
#22 - iPhone 5s
#25 - iPhone 4
#28 - iPhone 3Gs
#34 - iPhone 5c

Doesn't seem like people buy it strictly for a new design although iPhone 6/6 Plus and 5 have sold the highest. No worries, Timmay. Apple will be fine.

The iPhone 6se will likely sell somewhere as a Top 5 iPhone. Maybe on par with the 5s or higher. New design might sell higher but "s" models last longer with better resale value. 6se is NOT going to flop just because it looks the same as 6 and 6s. The worst looking iPhone 5c still cracked Top 35. The worst I see 6se sell is 40M. That's alot when HTC One M7 (phone of 2013) sold only 5M. The Xperia Z sold like 15M but mostly in Japan. That's worst case scenario. It could go higher over 50M-60M easily.

Has Apple lost its edge in innovation and design? Sure. Will the 6se flop? Hell no. Flop to me would be if it sold less than 20M. Then we will watch them go back to over 50-60M when the new designed iPhone 7 gets released next year. Doom and gloom talk is reserved for sour grape haters. The 4s and 5s still sold alot just by looking the same as its predecessor but with faster internals.

Sell the tick models. Keep the tock models. Or now with a 3-year cycles, keep the special edition models. Third time's the charm these days with the "se"...

How good is the DAC/Audio playback hardware in the iPhone what happens if you want a better hardware, wait for a new phone and hope it is better? This gives the user more choices from better audio to options like surround sound.

Your argument is invalid. The user has the same choice with an iPhone 6S right now. It offers a Lightning port that you can use Lightning headphones or a Lightning DAC dongle, right now, today.

No headphone jack is a "feature"?

At this point it would take some big and unlikely features to want to trade that in. Namely higher resolution for the 4.7" iPhone 7 and/or much better battery life.

If they don't do either of those things I'll pick up a 128 GB 6s before the 7 ships. That will easily last me a couple more years.

The phones are good enough now that I don't exactly need the latest model anymore. Even the lowly 5s is still decent.

Why get a 6S BEFORE the 7 ships? You will still be able to get a 6S after, and it will be discounted.
