Damn, that is a pretty good deal. I call every few months and threaten to cancel and I don't get anywhere near that good a deal... though I do have more channels.
If they don't want to give to you, just cancel the service and wait until they call back, usually the following day.
My experience the call back folks are way more flexible than just calling first and asking to lower your bill.
At the end of the day is better have something than nothing and DTV is willing to work once they see you are serious about leaving them.

That is really going all in on the bluff. Never dared take it that far... Do they disconnect service right away or do you get the rest of the month? I gotta try that.

Contrary to whatever ideologies you have, most open minded experienced people will have hybrid solutions. You will rarely find a tech enthusiast locked into the Apple ecosystem.

Apple’s ecosystem “works” but there are always limitations where it can’t do certain things that a user may want.

Different strokes for different users.

As I like to use the saying, “You don’t miss what you don’t need”, and I happily embrace the Apple ecosystem precisely because I am not really impacted by its limitations, or have otherwise learnt to accept, even embrace them.

I don’t claim to be a tech enthusiast, and you can all call me close minded all you want. I know what I need, Apple was there when no other solution worked, and I will continue using the very Apple products that have been serving me so well until the day Apple no longer works for me.

They disconnect for one day. No big deal.
The savings are worth the hassle. My bill was around $50 during the promo period and then spiked to $90. I called couple times, the first the guy was willing to lower back to $50, then I said I would think about it. The second guy would not budge for less than $60 so I asked to cancel it. He was pissed. Anyway, next day they called me and the lady was very nice. We end up around $50 and at the end of the call she gave me some extra saving closing it at $35. I had the DVR already paid through the 2 years commitment. So if you have a DVR already you are in a good place.
Just keep your cool and always be polite. It works because they know once your are gone for good the chances to come back are very slim. Good luck.

Apple’s subscription service is around the corner and for what I hear is that your favorite Bollywood shows are soon airing. Have fun with your $ 99,99 /mo Applestream

They probably will, somewhere in 2025 or so.

I am not sure if this was intended to be racist or otherwise insinuating something, because I am not Indian, don’t watch Bollywood shows, and I don’t see Apple offering anything that costs anywhere near $99 a month.

I don’t get what racism has to do with this. I like Indians like every other person.

Screw the original content. All I want is a way to find out where a specific piece of media is free across all of the services I have. And if it is NOT free, which service offers it to me for the lowest cost. Now I have to open Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime and search on each one.
Try the JustWatch App. Once you delete all the services you don’t have it works pretty well. Shows who has whatever you search for, and shows which are free and also the prices, both HD and SD, on various platforms. Also shows new content on a daily basis, as its added.

Which is also why you should not be naive and criticize people for their Apple comments. You don't know/understand their use cases.

There are a many that use the Apple ecosystem along with the Google/Amazon/etc ecosystem with each other on much deeper integration points.

Is it too much to expect that the rest here not be as dismissive towards the iPad, Apple Watch and Airpods?

Or is this only a problem when the Mac is criticised?

Webos is as fast as Appletv on my LG. Don’t know how old your tv is though.

2018. It’s no where near as fast. Please don’t let people think they compare. The input lag on webOS is at least 1 second moving between apps and as much as 5 seconds when opening them.

On top of that the LG buttons are stiff and unsatisfying to press. It’s like typing on one of the old clear Apple keyboards.

The difference is that people dismiss the iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods because they have used it. There isn’t anything particularly involved in the usage patterns.

On the other hand, the Mac is an entirely different subject matter. All of your accessories depend on the success of the Mac. You don’t really do much involved work, so you defending Apple when people cry about the Mac doesn’t really help here.

I can describe to you over a dozen reasons why the Macs suck at the moment, but you will counter how it works great for you. But newsflash, people don’t use the macs like you do. Some of us use it much much more than your simple use cases.
