You may be surprised, but I had wrote a letter with frustration over the GPU issues with 2011 MacBook Pro few years ago and I got a replay within few days. I got an email and phone call from Apple Asia Head to resolve the issue.

Seems that they don't respond to nice emails.

Excellent point. Sometimes being direct, firm and subjective obtains results. I typically conduct myself in a rational manner, but there are those times where escalation is appropriate to achieve results in a faster, more efficient manner. And most want to avoid confrontation or further problems, therefore, resolving a concern may meditate from the problem worsening.

I have them too, but they aren't in-ear and portable

I use them alot for Uni so i just put them in the case and in my backpack so for now it's ok for me. I may buy the Airpods for the portability aspect so I will have to wait and see what they are like.

Oh yea Tim's time is so busy, trying to figure out how we can screw over our loyal followers with more over priced devices that need $$$$ adapters. Dropping the wireless line for what ? Driverless car? Yea that makes sense.............

Nobody is forcing you to buy the products, if you don't like it there are other devices you can buy. It seems like i keep seeing the same thing just lately, people who feel like they are entitled to something, if you don't like the way Apple are heading, you don't have to buy into it.

I know this is a forum with everyone having an opinion. But anymore I feel its a place for complainers. Posting your opinion is fine, but to repeat over and over again the same complaint is just disheartening. So much for unity (like our politics).

yea exactly, i'm fine with people having an opinion, after all like you said it's a forum where people can express their individual opinion. But just lately the amount to moaning is getting stupid, it's like people think they are entitled.
People have been moaning about the new MacBook Pro's, yet they have broken online sales records according to Apple. People moan about the lack of a touch screen Mac to compete with the Surface devices, Apple have addressed that a number of times, even explaining in detail as to why they won't do it. People have moaned about the iPhone 7 not having a headphones jack, Apple are addressing that with the AirPods and the Beats Wireless Solo3 headphones.

It's not even like it's something new, Apple have been doing it for years, i.e. the floppy and disk drive.

I may have come across in a way people don't care for. And you are right NO ONE is forcing me to buy apple products. I just see lack of vision, and innovation in products from Apple. These ear buds just add to it.

The same people who moan are the same who are likely first to pre order the products. Go fiqure

Don't get me wrong, I do think that Apple as a company have changed since the death of Steve Jobs, we now have bigger screens iPhone and more choice, we also have somethings that people might not like. innovation is a tricky one, because people see it has a whole new product catagory or the "one more thing" but innovation can be seen in other aspects as well, maybe the touch bar on the new MacBook Pro's for example, I don't know because I haven't used one yet, that's just an example.

What's stopping Apple from announcing the iphone 8 at this point. They can just stall until it releases like they are doing with Airpod and BeatsX

The fact that they announced the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus this year, it would annoy a lot of people if they announced the iPhone 8 just months later! Also it takes time, I'm not even sure they have finalised the final design.

I am just a little frustrated.

Just my two cents here: I probably won't be buying these right away. No volume control. I don't want to take one out to pause, would prefer a pause button. I don't use Siri all that much (not a hater, just has limited utility for me).

Fair enough I must of missjudged that lol. I understand your frustration with the Airpods tho, I really want to get some to try ever since I got my iPhone 7 Plus, I've wanted to try the Airpods out.

I think because they will be the first version, the second generation may have better volume control and maybe the ability to skip tracks and so on.

I'm sorry but announcing a product to ship in October and here we are they may show-up before Christmas is just ridiculous. The sad part is this is just one example of many over recent years under the failed leadership of Tim Cook.

Apple has become a fraction of itself over the past few years with few product rollouts, product categories being eliminated, and when new products do make it to market they are plagued with false supply issues and missed delivery dates. I have to believe Steve is rolling in the ground over these past few years of "Innovation My ARSE"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MacRumors has been forwarded an email in which Apple CEO Tim Cook, responding to a customer, allegedly said he anticipates AirPods to begin shipping "over the next few weeks."MacRumors has verified the email's full headers appear to originate from Apple's corporate servers, while Apple executives are known to respond to customers on occasion, but as a boilerplate disclaimer, it should be noted these emails can of course be faked. Apple did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Apple has so far only said it needed "a little more time" before AirPods are ready for customers, while conflicting rumors have pointed towards release dates between December and January, offering little clarity. AirPods remain listed as both "coming soon" and "currently unavailable" on different sections of Apple's website.

The worst of it, is that they planned to release the AirPods almost 45 days after the iPhone 7 went on sale in the first place. The one product that single-handedly made the removal of the headphone jack somewhat acceptable, wasn't even planned to be released within a week or two of launch. And even after keeping everyone in suspense until the last day of October, and they permenantly delayed the launch by an additional month and counting, right now we're going on to 100 days before we likely see these first hit the streets. That's almost a third of the useful life of a phone that's likely to be upgraded to the latest model next Septemeber for most of the early adopters.

I always wait a generation, even if it's two years, like the watch. Loving my Series 2!

This is an amazing behavior that shows what Apple is as a brand.
Despite the numerous wireless bluetooth earbuds being available today, even the ones from Beats, we have people waiting for Apple to release the Airpods.
I can't speak for everyone, obviously, but as someone who has tried a lot of different in-ear buds (of the wired type so far, but looks like basic design of the bud itself is staying the same), I can say that the Apple ones are the only ones I can wear for long periods of time without any discomfort.

It's not because it's Apple, it's just that these particular ones fit my ears perfectly and it looks like the airpods will also

This has got to be the funniest thing I've ever seen. Hopefully, you do realize there's no such thing as "truly digital sound". Speakers are driven by analog signals because sound is analog. Trying to pump the square wave of a digital signal into a speaker would be nothing but useless noise as you blow the driver from one extreme to the other.

As long as sound is stored in a digital medium, you will always need to use a DAC. Even BT headphones use a DAC, it just uses one in the headphones instead of in the phone.

You are right, I didnt word it properly. Why cant the device actually playing the sound have the DAC? This would mean that quality equipment will have better DAC and wont be at the mercy of the DAC installed in the phone. That is what I meant to say.

Headphone jack is/was also preventing us from going to a single port. I hope the next iPhone will have a single USB-C port to drive everything and the rest of the industry moves in that unifying direction. Tired of so having so many different types of ports.
[doublepost=1480608145][/doublepost]
So instead they moved the dac to the bt headphones or the dongle, I think the logic is kinda flawed: why not provide a better dac inside the phone, perhaps with an improved, state of the art tiny headphone amp that perhaps justify the 900+ usd asking price?
Ah, yes the ever present obsession with thinness....
There's nothing wrong with the jack per se, since the alternative still has teething pains and no slam dunk advantage, since audio quality in the airpods is only on par with the classic wired buds (per early reviews).

Just because the wireless quality is not good right now does not mean it will never improve. If headphone jack is present, people wont refrain from buying $500+ headphones, hence there will be no incentive for manufacturers to improve wireless. If people wont buy equipment with 3.5mm jack then the rest of the industry is forced to change. I am really looking at the brighter picture here.

Also the price is 650+ usd not 900+

No one is disputing the vast amount of headphones available. Many of us (my self included) have a set or two of noise canceling headsets. BUT the AirPods are a great IN-EAR portable set you can toss in you pocket, syncs across Apple devices, and are convenient as heck. Not the best sounding, but great everyday toss-around earphones.

I'm not suggesting the AirPods are not going to sell extremely well, more trying to explain to another poster that there are indeed great sounding BT headphones on the market today. I'll get a pair of AirPods for myself and my wife for work and casual use for sure.
