Revenue is up partly because they sold a record number of 2015 MBPs from the refurbished store upon announcement of the new MBP. Read that recent interview they did about their plans for an overhauled MacPro, they spoked about their "surprise" in seeing the old MBP sales skyrocketing.

Not surprising, really. The lineup has some pluses and minuses, and the the MBP line in particular needs to be refined a bit (mostly in terms of price, capability, and lineup)...that said, the heavy hitters in the Mac lineup (MB/Pros, iMacs) are still more or less the nicest "all-rounder" machines out there.

The article you're posting in?...

"Kuo also mentioned a "15-inch MacBook" that would include 32GB of RAM and enter mass production in the early fourth quarter, which starts in September. He said the model would be "the most significantly redesigned product this year," and he believes it will adopt desktop-class RAM to satisfy high-end users.
"

That's a different product. Also, if his timing is accurate, the design would have been completed some time ago. This rumored high-end MacBook doesn't support your claim.

Lol, wow. Just wow. I pose a question based on a rumour in the article and people don't have a clue what I'm saying? Really?

Source?

That's what I thought...

Try reading in addition to having your thoughts? :)

You're thinking of the Mac Pro. At least do your research next time you want to troll.

No, I'm thinking of the MacBook Pro. At least read the article you're posting in response to next time you want to accuse others of trolling ;)

what says who??

Kuo. Read the article.

Oh you and your sensible reading the actual article before responding...! ;) Thanks.

Again, for those who apparently missed it earlier:

I'm assuming he was talking about a Macbook Pro. But hey, it's a rumour, could be nothing in it. But I didn't just pull it out of nowhere, and seeing as Apple won't break out sales per model or give targets for how many they wanted/expected to sell, we can't really tell if strong demand for MacBook Pros means they translated into as many sales as Apple would like.

And I posed it as a question!! Lol.

I think it was desperation more than anything else that drove people.

It’s the only reason why I bought one. I was holding off as long as I could waiting for new models. I still miss the escape key.

Pretty much goes to show you that the outrage over USB-C/TB3 is pretty much angry nerds online and doesn't correlate to the general public.

Dongles don't bother me. I'd rather have USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 and deal with dongles. What really bothered me was the extra $400 compared to previous models. I definitely don't think the touchbar which I barely use was worth an extra $400.

This post is more troll bait than anything else. The 2016 WAS a contentious issue...but do we need to rehash this again?

Classic MacRumors strategy...pick out one line from Tim Cook to fan the flames.

My Esc key is always displayed, did I get an update you didn't? I heard about the Esc issue before I bought and was surprised to see its pretty much always displaying Esc in the top left.

Oh and totally agree the touch bar was a rip off. Totally useless and not worth $400, but I wanted the Touch ID signin, which disappointingly does almost nothing.

The vast majority of new buyers enjoy their MacBook Pros. We are a small percentage of the buyers (or in my case, buyer/returner) for many reasons. I do think Apple dropped the ball on this one, and hope they come out with a better lasting battery. The pricing is bordering on absurd.

I've been trying out one of the new Macs. (Review is in the thread.) I like the general redesign and the touchbar.

Bottom line is our VP said "no, we're not ordering those" because the price increase is too much to justify when, as they are currently configured, we'll also have to order new dongles/docks as well. We went and ordered 2015 models.

And I'm talking about an international company with engineers who like Macs, and we order millions of US$ (and £, ¥, €, etc) of Apple stuff.

Take it as anectdotal, but us and other Apple's Enterprise customers have made it known.

My MacBook Pro 13" toucher is the best machine I ever had. fast, light, super display and thanks to Thunderbolt 3 eGPU for pro app and gaming! TOP

I had the same one but returned it because the battery life was not very good....is that your experience?

Who would've guessed it, release new products that aren't 4 years out of date and sales go up...incredible!

Seriously though, this just highlights how much money Apple is missing out on right now. If their whole Mac lineup was up to date rather than just one product, they could be making a loooot more...

I've hung on to my 17" 2009 MBPro for as long as I can. I'm probably going to have to replace it this year with one of these. : /

It's such a success they are doing a significant redesign for the next update? Hmm.

Did their back peddling include the MBP or just the MP?

I badly need a new laptop to replace my 2011 MBP, but I am not buying the iEmojiBook or worse the EmojiBar-free model with a toy CPU at a hiked price. I'd consider the 2015 model, but I don't want to pay tomorrow's tech prices for ancient tech.

I'm on the fence now about a Dell XPS or MSI GS. I'd wait until the fall to see what Apple comes up with, but what are the chances they'll add more ports, magsafe, an SD slot, and removable storage? Pretty close to zero.

I also just retired my 2009 MacMini which is no longer even able to stream netflix, and Imoved my 2012 quad core a into its space, and now I'm looking at an Intel NUC Skull Canyon to replace the 2012 mini. I would love to buy another MacMini but considering that the current ones are inferior to my 5 year old machine and have a higher price tag, Apple just don't have a suitable option.

So there's two macs I'd buy almost instantly if they simply offered modern versions of what they've been selling for over a decade. Instead that's going to be 2 new windows computers very shortly. And personally, I don't care to use an iPad and don't care much about my phone. I currently use an iPhone now because I have macs; no macs = no iphone for me.
